I strongly suspect that Mathilde will be fine by the time we start the next turn. The Shrine construction, in particular, seems like the sort of thing that will lift her spirits.
Oh yeah, we've got 'build a casino filled with people who think you're cool' as one of our actions penciled in. That sounds pretty much exactly like the sort of thing that could make us feel better, and we're already doing it.

It probably was rough to go through, but nothing that couldn't be slept off. Now if the gods decided to get involved and the feedback of their conflict wounded Mathilde I'd agree, but this is something that is less severe than the Mork heist, and that was recovered from with no adverse affects.
This too. It was emotionally heavy, but physically we should be fine.

That was at least in part due to Gunnars' superstar introduction as master of Soul-Lore when he rolled a natural 100. That roll, in a Bazaar style game, in a sense made us fine, because Gunnars could say so with such certainty.

Probably another social action to talk with him in the aftermath about what just happened, would be good for Mathilde.

That roll was actualy to check if we haven't been possesed instead of in any way about how well we were.
What actualy made us fine was the high roll for how well we handled the event way before.

Seriously Gunnars is a cool dude but he just keep winning the prize for most overhyped from a single roll in this quest.

I'm not sure we can do social actions with him any more; any time we put in with him would need to have a purpose other than idle chatter, because he's been rolled (one supposes, based on those early attempts to socialize with him) to have given the entirety of himself to Gazul. (This might count as that, but if Boney doesn't think so he might not just show up on the list next time).

I wouldn't mind having an option to discuss the theological options, though. It'd cost AP, but I'm pretty much resigned to us never spending it as I'd like, and we probably wouldn't pick that either.

an observation, eight peaks would likely make a solid staging ground for a campaign against black Craig. We might want to consider spending an action scouting them to see if it would be viable for reconquest. Staging the conquest of black craig out of eight peaks, especially if we conspicuously help, would be another big pile of political clout for belgar.

So... Wolf firing the Eye... does he need the targeting crystals?

Or can he fire at Will, or indeed any other unfortunate individual else he takes a dislike to? :V

Semi-seriously, can he use it as Mathilde does, though?

Maybe we should have simply done that, too.
Avoided some metaphysical angst.

(Yes, I know why we fired it for reliability reasons)

I now have this image of some poor halfling named Will who Wolf spends all his free time stalking, just for shits and giggles. Doggo may have gotten a bit too much from his master.

Maybe he could if he could cast the spell, but it'd be impressive for him to be managing petty magic, so definitely not.

The way the tower works is it's simultaneously a justification for, an amplification of, and an enchanted item of Burning Shadows. The tower and the steel rod let us go 'we can use burning shadows on this', the runes put Gazul's power into it, the main enchantment lets other people cast it, and the secondary ones let us do stuff like aim it or clear away likely obstacles.

We only get to mess around with it because we can skip using the enchanted controls and pretty much substitute ourselves as a component by casting the spell on the tower directly, so all the other enchantments also go through us in order to work.

That was my interpretation too.

I think sometimes people just don't get to roll for things, if they aren't expecting them. Who could possibly guess that a mountain would turn around, steal the sun out of the sky, and proceed to blast you with dwarven hellfire? The shamans might have been capable of watching for it, but Birdmuncha busied them all with talking to him, and by the time they realized what was going on they were toast.
They also might have gotten a 'can you react in time' roll that just wasn't shown. After all, when a Greenskin Shaman is attacking a Dwarf Karak, the last thing they expect is to have to do Countermagic. Let alone large-scale countermagic on Dwarf Battle Magic, which doesn't exactly exist.

Mathilde needs all the dwarven favour, all the congratulatory headpats, and all the hugs after this.

As an aside... I wonder what the dragon thinks of all this? It's already been woken up by a horrible chemical mess, then by Belegar claiming Karak Eight Peaks as his own, and now we've just destroyed half a million greenskins in a single burst of divine hellfire. The Karak's never usually this noisy...
