As much as we just proved Thorgrim in the wrong I can't help but be sympathetic to him.

To him we were an overstretched hold lead by dwarves with more ambition then sense. Ones that could be tolerated for now and hopefully would mellow out in the future.

Then the Waaagh comes and well...we should die. On paper at least. Especially given his lower opinion and probably not knowing we had a wmd.

Even not evacuating makes sense. It makes a better story, a better grudge. All of them died and no one is left to say you abandoned them. One day when you reclaim the eight peaks that grudge will be on their minds.

Future generations might revile you but so what? You protected the dwarves today and if your ancestors hate you for it they're either wrong or they'll just be even more angry when the time comes.

I don't think he was right, but I can't help but see some logic for a dwarf playing the looking game.

No-one's going to declare a grudge over it. It was in what we consider to be exceptionally bad taste, but it was a perfectly viable interpretation of the situation, and Thorgrim tried to do what he thought was the right thing to save the most dwarven lives that could be saved; a one point two million greenskin waaagh isn't the sort of thing you send reinforcements to unless you also want them to perish.

I think two things can be true.

1. Thorgrim's position has a logic to it from a detached, neutral POV.

2. No one is going to give a shit about his 'logic' when he was so spectacularly wrong, and for every dwarf who dies defending against this Waaagh (we'll have at least some) their family will be asking if maybe a few more gyrocopters might have slain the orc who ended up killing their boy.

The fact that Belegar and Thorgrim had a feud makes it far worse, because no one can say how much he allowed that to sway his decision-making.

I'll note he does know about it he just discounted it like he did the rest of the Umgi, the halflings and King Kazador.

You're not wrong, but I do feel that point needs to be raised.
I don't think he did know about the Undumgi, the halflings or king kazador. "25000 dwarfs" which matches the amount of dwarfs that were reported as staying, iirc. Clan Angrund, clan huzkul, and the Karak izorites.

He doesn't. He wouldn't have much trust on an umgi zhufokri's creation anyway, but he doesn't actually know.
He does know, Kazrik told him about it, but yes that is why he discounted it.

I'd be surprised if Kazrik didn't mention his dad and throng had taken up semi temporary residence there. Even then it still ignores everyone sans a beard.

I'm going to need a quote on that, because I distinctly remember someone asking about it and Boney saying he didn't know. It's the same WOG where he added the fact that it wouldn't have affected his decision anyway.
It doesn't make functional difference, by my recollection of the WOG is that Kazrik was there, told him and it made no difference on the decision making process, since its umgi foolishness.

But can I weed my garden with it?

Remember when we wanted to use the mountain's Burning Shadow as an agriculture project, only to be told 'no' by the local Jade Wizard? Can you image Gazul's reaction to being told to weed the gardens with his cold fire?
Is this weed an enemy of the dawi? :V

Gazul: Manling, why did you invoke My fire? I don't see any enemies of the Dawi in the mountain's shadow.
Mathilde: They are right here! All over the Eastern Valley!
G: If there were someone here, he would be unable to hide from My gaze. As it is, there is nothing here except some plants.
M: Yes! It is what I'm talking about!
G: Are you saying that these weeds are our enemies? Did your mind crack after recent battles?
M: I am and it didn't. These weeds lower harvests by 20-30% each year. They are sabotaging karak's food supplies! How many Dwarfholds fell because their defenders were starving before the final assault? How many could have been saved if their defenders held out couple more years? This enemy is insidious, but no less deadly for it!
G: By My beard, you are right! Burn them all! KHAZUKAN KAZAKIT-HA! Oh, I probably should tell Grimnir about this, so he could send some dreams and tell Thorgrim to write grudges against weed in Dammaz Kron.

Do we have an idea of how many orks are left in the badlands or Iron rock? Because it seems every big tribe is here. Which would give us several opportunities and not just the Dwarfs but for the EIC, and maybe the border princes.

Ork Quest Players: Hey what the fuck? This is terrible storytelling, we just got half our Waaagh ganked in one shot after spending months building it up.
MoneyB: You decided to assault a Dwarven Karak. I'm not sure what you expected.
