[X] MATHILDE: Infiltrate Karagril early, and pick off any competent leaders.

I think that now's a pretty good time to get xp for our Assassination skill.

Barring "female wizard", Mathilde's basically a checklist of things they don't like: female knight, foreigner, assassin, Ranaldite, and jumped up peasant.
Female knight is eh, not too bad. If you think they're going to know any of things after foreigner you didn't actually bother to read what I argued and assumed Mathilde would be an idiot about it.

Like why on earth would Mathilde let them know she was a Ranaldite!? She only told Kragg and Belegar because grand theft Waaaaaaaagh! Was inexplicable without that bit of information.

Warning: Calm Down
For god's sake can we shut UP about the flipping Dhar manipulation?! Attempting to manipulate Dhar breaks the articles. Period. Using "tongs"? Still. Manipulating. Dhar. The Second Secret is a "break glass in case of zombie apocalypse" issue. That's it. All of this back and forth and POINTLESS debate over the whole thing is maddening. So all of you that CANNOT LET IT GO? BELT. UP.

calm down
While I do not believe this is serious enough to warrant infraction, this is over the top and uncalled for. Please cool off.

WFRP 2e's Bretonnia book doesn't give an opinion on female wizards, but it says that male wizards are even more distrusted and hated in Bretonnia than they are in the Empire.

From Mathilde's point of view Bretonnia is in all likelihood a major step down from the Empire in every category she cares about.

I'd say between the Stirland Watch debacle, the impromptu service for the mercs, and her ongoing affiliation with the semi-public shrine it would be safe to assume that anyone who has reason to investigate Mathilde will have at least a decent chance of discovering she's a Ranaldite. Random people and those either without a decent way of gathering information or that don't take the time to look into her aren't going to know, sure, but at this point there are too many independent sources pointing towards her faith for us to be able to cover it up if we tried.

Of course, if we do decide to be a famous and publicly not!Ranaldite crusader that just happens to favor a lot of causes Ranald looks fondly on, doing so in an assumed identity is likely possible. That said, I'd say we're a bit too much of a representative of the Imperial (and now Dwarven) government/power structure for me to feel comfortable doing such crusading in scenarios where it would actually be important to hide our god anyway—at least without some fairly explicit permission from said power structures. That's the sort of shit that could cause wars.

@BoneyM how big of a scandal would it be if the Empress was found to be a Ranaldian priestess? Would it cause a religious shitstorm if it's found out she's got Shallya's blessings too?

EDIT: How about her real age? Would it cause issues despite the fact that she's clearly fertile?

Most notably, in Bretonnia Ranald is in the same lineup of "illegal-but-not-Chaos" as Stormfels and Khaine.

Honestly, now that I think about Mathilde's future, the option I would favor most is a happy ending after K8P is fully retaken. Back to the College and shaping a tiny apprentice or dozen to be as fierce as us. A satisfying conclusion that leaves open the possibility of a new quest in the same continuity, wherein a new MC can interact with the awesome mentor that is Mathilde.

My headcanon has generally leaned toward Everything Is Terrible Forever in Mousillon and Knights of the Round Table Only Super French prevailing in the other dukedoms.

There is no way, no way, that the empress did not have enemies or ladies plotting her demise so they can take her place.

As such, im pretty sure the rumour is pretty saturated with even more scandalous info of her doing worse things.

The key here.. is to spread an even MORE outlandish gossip so that 'true' scandals are dissmissed.

Why are people trying to deny the one true path?

Nehekhara has everything. Mystical might to learn, learned company, a outcast people searching for a purpose just ripe (eh) for alliance with the broader community of Order, a ruler that hates chaos, a black pyramid to loot and demolish, and a Nagash to punch in the femur¹.

Also that undead command bonus might apply.

¹ the femur is the upper part of the leg, and yes, this is scale accurate.

Yes yes! Even better, with the war going on we'll have lots of material we can use to make the greatest apprentice ever!

Bonus points if the ducklings lose any parts that they don't strictly need.

Explicitly illegal in Bretonnia, last I checked. Also, they don't like all female magic users, just priestesses of The Lady.
And it's also something that they try to ignore as much as possible as a polite fiction. And while obviously they don't hold all female magic users it's the nature of people to try and reconcile new things with what they know.

And this is all presuming we use Protector and a bit of monster hunting to lay a foundation we can build on.
