The one ring isn't really a ring of invisibility, it's a ring of psionic domination. In this case it would connect to the ring of the '9 lords of men', aka the nazgûl expies apparition bindings.

Of course, that would be insane, and probably isn't recommended, but by FSM, it would give some martial bonus to small squad cavalry tactics.

I edited. It wasn't really 9 kings for Sauron just 'lords' and 'great warriors' and 3 kings. But if you want to go full shounen surpass the ancestors that's fine too.

There are 10 elector counts so this is totally doable. And in fact it would be a nice omake.

I think placing most of the blame on the parents is misguided. Malekith spent a great portion of his life outside his mother's eye, and a great deal of his desires are not quite the same as his mother's. He is a greedy, horrible person, and while his mother is horrible she is not the reason he is the scum of the earth. Malekith had lots of positive influences in his life and he discarded them all in pursuit of his own selfish desires, and that is his fault and his alone.

Morathi did arrange for Malekith's wife (who was also Ariel's sister*) to be killed because she didn't want anyone else have as much influence on him as her IIRC.

*Which led to Ariel hunting Morathi down and sparing Morathi only because she taught Ariel how to use Dhar (wrongly, as a joke).

I remember that. It was an 8th Edition thing that was added to make Malekith more sympathetic, likely to build up his "redemption" in the End Times. Despite that, those events occured millenia after the Sundering. Malekith still chose to discard all that he held dear for his selfish desires. Whatever could have happened if he had a lovely woman telling him not to be bad is in the realm of "what-if"s, and I don't think it would have made up for all that he did.

I didn't know about that, I just thought it existed to reinforce Morathi's cred as being one of the oldest and most influential people in the setting rather than trying to rehabilitate Malekith of all people.

Is this from Endtimes? Because that sounds like Endtimes.

Adanhu dying when cleansing Ariel from Dhar is apparently in the Wood Elf 8th edition army book so I assume it's from there? On the other hand, IIRC, this is also the Wood Elf edition which started to turn them into fantasy Eldar so the source is questionable either way.

He intends to get around to doing so one of these days.
Well now I'm wondering what would be more highly regarded by the Colleges. A steady supply of Orbs of Sorcery, or a steady supply of Towers of Serenity.
Travelling back in time to before he was Magister Patriarch.
It's so frustrating.

Depending fully on other people to come up with things. Both the We Silk Developers and the Time Travelling Apprentices have been getting nowhere for years.

We should create more incentives.
IIRC, 10 Counts (incluiding the Emperor) + the Moot + 3 Sigmarites + the Ar-Ulric
That's a rather large number of rings tbh. Can you imagine having to try to find them?

It's from 8th Edition Wood Elves Army Book. Ariel was frustrated at Morghur and how he was coming back and destroying her forest and one of her Treelord Ancients betraying her and she was feeling like her magical prowess wasn't enough to deal with all the world's problems, so when she had the chance to kill Morathi, Morathi begged for her life and told her that she would give her magical secrets if she would spare her. Ariel considered it and accepted the offer, even though Orion just wanted to kill Morathi and be done with it. I think there was something about Morghur possibly corrupting Ariel just enough to erode her sense of self or that Ariel was already dabbling with Dhar but didn't really know how to handle it, but the end of it is that Ariel learns a bunch of magical secrets from Morathi.

Morathi didn't teach her everything, but she was pretty sure that what she taught Ariel would be enough to corrupt her, and she was right. Ariel got pretty messed up by dabbling with Dhar and tried to bind Morghur and consume him into herself. Durthu sensed that event occuring and popped up out of nowhere to kill Morghur and disrupt the ritual, which Ariel was very pissed about and she exiled him for. At one point Ariel was so full of dark energy that one of the Treelord Ancients, Adanhu the Wise, had to sacrifice himself by draining all the Dark Magic from her, which led to his demise. Ariel, free from the Dark Magic, grew incredibly sad at what she'd done and sealed herself in the Oak of Ages, isolating herself. It was from there that the Sisters of Twilight appeared, apparently as representatives of Ariel while she was gone. There is still a section of Athel Loren, Modryn the Night Glens, which remains dark, gloomy and full of spiteful spirits, as a result of Ariel's dabbling in dark magic. There is also a contingent of Asrai casters who dabble in Dark Magic, known as Darkweavers, who followed Ariel's teachings, but they are counterbalanced by Highweavers who utilise High Magic to help contain the destructive influence of Dark Magic and kill the Darkweaver if need be, because they are aware of the dangers of Dhar.

This is all 8th Edition.

I think Eike Quest went off the rails really, really early when the QM rolled that she was abandoned by her parents but was taken in by her grandmother to be groomed as the heir to a massive merchant company. With a Grey Lady Magister passing through from time to time as her "fairy godmother" and future partner, and possible vacations diplomatic visits to the Moot and a newly-reclaimed Dwarf mountain stronghold.

At which point questers started clamoring to actually play through her childhood/tween years rather than be given dry summaries and stat sheets for them.
....man, now I really want to see that Eike NegaQuest. The spit-takes of what they must be rolling for chargen alone....

Like, imagine BoneyM MoneyB introducing Mathilde to the players.
"This is your grandma's former coworker. She's a Dame Loremaster Lady Magister of Shadows who destroyed Drakenhof, reconquered most of Karak Eight Peaks in a day, found Karak Vlag after centuries of it being trapped in the Warp, killed Drycha, helped Ranald mug Gork and Mork, dusted a million-strong Waaaagh...." (List continues)

Playerbase: "WHAT THE HELL DID WE ROLL?!"
It is from the same author as endtimes khaine. Matt Ward as part of his big 8th edition soft reboot of the elves.

I don't think even GW appreciates his legacy. Most of the End Times is either ignored or retconned in Age of Sigmar, and one notable part is that in Broken Realms Morathi, the whole "Every Phoenix King after Aenarion is false and a pretender" from End Times was retconned. Every Phoenix King had a touch of Divinity and was blessed by Asuryan, it's how Morathi managed to become a Goddess. By eating them.

Really? That's actually kind of nice. End Times just pissed me off so bad it tainted Age of Sigmar's introduction for me, so I haven't gotten into it, lore or otherwise, at all. Maybe I'll give it another chance.

3rd Edition is very nice and incredibly polished in comparison to the beginning. I do recommend anyone whose opinion was soured to at least check out 2nd or 3rd Edition. Not 1st, that was pretty rough until the end of the Edition. It's become refined and developed over the years into an interesting setting that bears a lot more similarities to WHF than one would think, while also maintaining a Mythic/Epic Fantasy feel. It's not for everyone, but I quite enjoy it.

I also like the fact that the narrative is constantly developing and progressing. Things happen in real time and events play into the future of the setting. Things change, and not just in a Retcon way. It's not a static setting.

Eike arrives at K8P and Matty shows her the place:
-"You'll be living here with me. This is the bedroom, this is the magical laboratory, this is the cell of Dr. Qrech the Skaven, and this is the holy doomtower I used to kill half a million greenskins. Be careful with it."
-"Yes, this is the library I run. Don't worry about the giant spider-librarians, I convinced them not to eat humans. Also, if you see the Dragon, tell it I just got the original and complete Creeping Flesh; I'm sure it'll be interested."
-"I'll be off for a few weeks, I have to meet with some of the brightest magical minds in the Old World to work out a continent-wide Dhar cleaning system. In the meanwhile, keep an eye on all these vampire skulls, just in case."

Meanwhile, EikeQuest players: *confused screaming*

Green stuff is far harder to handle than I anticipated. Mathilde's staff will have to deal with being a little scuffed I guess. Well, I have 12 hours for the stuff to dry, so maybe I can salvage the misshappen staff.

At which point MoneyB removed exploding Crits from the game.
