Amber – High quality and relatively cheap. From what my contacts tell me the Eonir have a functionally unlimited supply of amber, being able to produce it through magical means. While the supply is bottomless the output is limited however, something many merchants in Salkalten are grateful for. Laurelorn amber is much prized by jewelers for it generally lacks insects but are of little value to certain naturalists for the same reason.
Bezoars – Valued by the nobility for their ability to neutralize poisons and certain magisters for magical properties relating to the same. Prices are good, resale prices are better. The best can be obtained in Marienburg or Erengrad. Contrary to what some might expect the dwarfs have little demand for bezoars as the poisons they have to deal with are rarely ingested.
Candles – Within Laurelorn Forest lives an elf who is quite probably the finest chandelier in the Empire. This individual and their apprentices have been making money hand over fist producing and selling spermaceti candles of the highest quality. Notable customers for these candles include the Ar-Ulric, the High Matriarch of the Cult of Mannan, and the Grand Theogonist, as well as half the Elector Counts of the Empire. However I advise caution when informing potential customers about their virtues when said customers are dwarfs. They tend to get argumentative, potentially violently so, if one claims an elf makes a illuminant that is superior to their dawi made equivalents.
Castoreum – The castoreum glands of Laurelorn beavers are significantly larger than those of ordinary Old World beavers, though that is only to be expected of a creature five times the size of a normal specimen. Best prices can be obtained from the Gold Order, with various perfumers of Marienburg, Reikland and Wissenland taking second place. Dwarfs will generally either outright refuse to purchase Laurelorn castoreum or offer prices so low as to be barely worth the effort of transporting cargos of it to their holds.
Furs – Along with lumber furs form the bulk of the goods sold by the Eonir to Imperial merchants. Of the highest quality, naturally, and many possess unusual properties. For example, the pelts of Laurelorn beavers are nearly completely waterproof and much larger than those of ordinary beavers besides. More than a few officers of Nordland's armies have paid a premium for the ability to stay warm and dry during even the most torrential rains.
Glassware – Mostly forest glass, but forest glass of a quality unheard of in the realms of men. Some examples are as clear as crystal with none of the green tinge that characterizes ordinary forest glass. Others are as red as fresh roses or as blue as the sea. All of it is significantly stronger than ordinary glass. Sells for high prices in major markets across the Empire.
Honey – The highest quality available for sale anywhere. Supposedly possesses minor magical properties. Tastes superb, can last years without crystalizing. Supply is limited however as the Eonir harvest only part of a hive's honey, leaving most of it for the bees, and keep much of what they harvest for themselves.
Jewelry – Of the very high quality that is to be expected of elven craftsmanship. As beautiful as they are pricey and every example I have encountered is very pleasing to the eye. Since regular trade with the Eonir has begun some years ago Eonir jewelry has become a popular fashion statement throughout the Northern Trident.
Lacquer – Laurelorn forest is to my knowledge the only source of true lacquer in the Empire and one of the only two in the whole of the Old World along with Athel Loren. From what the elves tell me they struck a bargain with trees of a certain species centuries ago. The trees get especial treatment such as quality fertilizer and magical "healing" and in exchange the elves get a supply of lacquer sap. How exactly one negotiates with trees is unknown to me and the one time I'd asked I was simply told that it was beyond my understanding.
[1]
Lacquerware – Very
very fine. Even moderate quality Eonir lacquerware is comparable to some of the best coming from Nippon. The best (that the Eonir are willing to sell) surpasses them. Floral decorations are a common motif, as are hunting scenes. The decorations are either painted on the lacquer before they receive their final coating or are made of ground gold, green gold, silver, red gold, and such. The latter examples naturally fetch better prices.
Laurelorn lumber – The highest quality lumber in the Empire and second highest quality of any sourced in the Old World as a whole after that- illegally and supremely dangerously- harvested from Athel Loren. Much of it is far too fine to be wasted on architectural purposes and instead is used for high quality carpentry. Since regular trade has begun Nordlander carpenters have managed to wrestle a reputation as producing some of the finest woodwork in the Empire, much to the grumbling of Dwarfs and the (apparent) bemusement of the Eonir. Laurelorn lumber has also been a boon for Nordland's shipyards. While the province has no lack of timber for its shipwrights much of that from Laurelorn is stronger and better at absorbing shock and stress than that from ordinary trees.
Medicinal herbs – The Forest of Laurelorn provides a great bounty of medicinal herbs. From rare herbs such as moonflower to trinkwort to common ones such as valerian and salwort the Eonir sell them to Imperial merchants who in turn sell them to herbalist throughout the Empire.
Pearls – Of the highest quality. The Eonir offer perfectly spherical pearls in a quantity that is essentially impossible to obtain naturally. It is widely suspected that the Eonir possess the ability to induce oysters to produce pearls through some secret method. Most assume the method to be magic, though once an elf deep in his cups told me that it wasn't before his compatriots told him to be quiet. Regardless of how the elves produce them such high quality pearls have become significantly more common in the northern Empire since regular trade started.
Potions - Magic and extremely expensive, so few merchants are both willing and able to deal in them. Nonetheless those who are make superb profits due to the higher quality of elven potions compared to those produced by the Colleges of Magic, or at the very least the perception of higher quality.
Soap – A pure luxury product. Much higher quality than Imperial soaps or even Estalian and Arabyan examples. Extremely long lasting, with a pleasant odor and even taste if certain rumors can be believed. The best prices for it can be found in Marienburg, Reikland and Wissenland.
Whetstones – Probably the finest available for purchase anywhere. Blades sharpened on Eonir whetstones will stay sharper for longer compared to even dwarf whetstones. A luxury reserved only for the wealthy. The prices the Eonir charge are expensive, but they can be resold for even higher prices. In addition, they are excellent gifts to curry favor with knightly orders, powerful nobles, the various cults, and their warrior priests and so on and so forth.
Wine – Widely considered the archetypical good obtained from trade with any variety of elves, Eonir wines are a luxury product reserved only for the wealthy. Produced from grapes, hawthorns, honey, blackberries, and more. Near universally possess dominant floral and fruity notes that are superbly balanced against each other. Very expensive with a single bottle of Eonir wine fetching the same price as a cask of Bugman's New.
[1] Certain safety standards should be maintained when transporting and handling cargos of Laurelorn lacquer as it is a potent irritant that causes rashes shortly after contact with skin. These rashes produce itchiness, inflammation and in severe cases a burning sensation. They will typically clear up within fourteen days, though severe cases can produce scars.
