I don't see why there is nothing left to rescue, the beast infection operates far to quickly for there to be anything left which isn't infected.
Even if everything is already infected at least it shouldn't have time to properly fortify the system and fill it with nasty surprises, nor get a month of production out of it.

A part of me is worried this is a trap, and the Beast left the colony alone to lead the Fed/Romulan fleet's into a kill zone with cloaked shuttles everywhere.

The beast has never demonstrated that level of tactical or strategic skill in the quest. Even the Naggarok wasn't capable of putting off nomming things that weren't benefiting it at that precise moment, and this isn't the Naggarok. It's the Beacon Pod beast.

So this "Yorktown the Sarek" thing is making vote counting a little difficult. If I don't mention it then is that taken as "don't Yorktown the Sarek" or do I actually have to post a vote saying "Don't Yorktown the Sarek"? Because I think it would be unfair to do the latter, but vote-counter programs may not make it easy to tell who voted, but didn't vote for that option.

No, that's easy, NetTally also gives you the total voter count. I'd recommend putting it in your vote anyway if you are opposed though, because otherwise it's hard to tell whether someone was actually opposed or just didn't see the suggestion.

Okay, new vote. I take the point that the ship design team is worth only 1 point compared to the Vulcan Science Academy team, so I'll change the the Andorian cutter. However I'm still voting to wait a month. I don't care if I'm literally the only person to vote for that. I'm right and y'all are wrong. Ships take a long time to build, and that's with skilled human crews much less whatever cludgy building the Biophage can muster. I simply do not think it'll be able to build that much in a month, compared to how much stronger our ships will be against it in only one more month of preparation.

Ships take a long time to build
Shuttles don't (their build times are measured in days), and repairs (e.g. to T'Seren) don't necessarily.
Still, I can see why one would argue against going. I'd rather take the first opportunity to try to smash T'Seren, but to each their own.

Oh no I'm all for going. But someone has to point that this may be a trap.

… do we still have the technology required in order to build a Genesis Device, because I think that might be the best method of purging the Beast's base of operations.

It's almost certainly a trap. If the biophage is capable of learning and growing smarter, like in a lot of similar works, then it would have realized that rushing the entire fleet in is something the federation would do.

We'd be rushing into it's turf without the benefit of all the outposts and defenses that we've set up. Who knows how many cloaked suicide shuttles could be in there, ready to swarm our ships from all directions.

Instead m, we should try to quarantine the system and maybe send in a clocked Romulans ship with a trilithium bomb or something.

If you really believe that, then vote to wait a month.

EDIT: By the way, it may be understood, but everyone should probably be specifying that McCoy will be joining the Infectious Disease research team to boost them to an incredible 6 skill. (That is going to do so much for resolving this crisis quickly.)

There's one great big hole in the trap theory: Where did the beast get the resources to actually create a trap that will WORK on a combined Federation/Romulan battle fleet.

It's got relatively few warships and they run like hell whenever engaged by our major assets. The suicide shuttles are at greatly reduced effectiveness vs a fleetball, because massed defensive fire is a thing.

And one month isn't enough time to build a fleet.

Yorktowning the Sarek is leading 11 to 5 even assuming not voting on the issue counts as a vote against. Joining the attack is leading 15 to 1. All other votes are unanimous.

It may not be a trap, but we're attacking the largest concentration of the enemy head on on their own ground. It would not suprise me if it had reshapen large parts of the planet's former population into orbital defenses and whatnot.

It still needs materials and time to build. Unless it actually stole full-up Homeworld construction tech it can't do that so quickly.

It spreads extremely quickly. It can consume an entire ship in minutes. It consumed an entire planet in a few days, and that was a planet far less densely populated.

I wouldn't assume you'll catch it unprepared.

"T'Lorel here. I am told that we will be 'Yorktown-ing these motherfuckers, bitches' by Lieutenant Deez. I am unclear on the meaning of that sentence due in part to the substandard grammar and what I suspect are Earth historical references, but I hope it serves as an inspiration to this crew before we go into battle as Deez has assured me it will. I have evaluated the damage we have sustained, and by my conclusions and our efficiency reports this crew is capable of compensating for the damage adequately. Perform your duties as instructed and there is statistically significant chance for success."
