[X][COUNCIL] Plan Kadesh and Old Guard
[X][SHIPYARD] Amarkia
[x][STARFLEET] Standardized Sector Fleets: An Excelsior and an Oberth in every sector fleet

I am well aware we're going to be designing an Oberth sucessor by 2030. Lovely thing about Oberths is that the odds of them responding to non-science events are precisely jack and shit, so we can keep them in our home sector fleets for ages for event support purposes.

I'm content to wait Seruk out. I'm sure he will retire on his own any day now :D

Ord Grind Duk is currently the central system of the Federation. Given that the next central system appears to be Alukk, I don't want to preempt that shift right now.
I... I thought that sounded off. And I went and had a look at the map, and I blinked. And then I went and had a look at the old maps, and now I'm not sure what to think, or indeed where I'm going with this, except that, well.

Jesus fuck.

Still, Tellar has the advantage of mollifying the Development faction, which sponsored this.

The development faction are already getting a shipyard - they should already be mollified.

Also, we shouldn't assume that Tellar Prime will remain the "capital" of the development faction forever. All political parties are going to be in constant flux.

On the other hand, the Amarkians have been getting left out in the cold an awful lot lately. We've snubbed backing from the Hawks a couple of times now, we didn't want their military police

Heh, actually the Amarkia councillor isn't hawkish - he's expansionist. This political party snapshot is a little out of date, but it's only a year old.

We've snubbed backing from the Hawks a couple of times now, we didn't want their military police, and Tellar Prime already has a Starfleet shipyard. This last point is most important to me, because I'm a fan of keeping our vital infrastructure distributed.

Actually, I'm hopeful that if we build at Amarkia it might be cheaper to expand on with a shipyard for non-support ships (that is, our normal ships) there later.

I think we are best off putting it over a major world. Good defense, and more importantly an easy supply of personnel and materials. Putting it on a frontier colony world just means there's a huge pain in the ass supply chain to get resources to the shipyards.
Fair enough.

I suppose I should explain why I prefer Amarkia to Ord Grind Duk or Tellar Prime for the new logistical shipyard.

Vs Tellar Prime it's just a matter of spreading Starfleet construction assets around.

Vs Ord Grind Duk, it's a matter of defense. Ord Grind Duk doesn't have much in the way of installed defenses to protect a logistics hub. Amarkia? Amarkia has the defense grid built by the resident soldier race, and the Amarki Fleet.

@OneirosTheWriter
Does the increased PP cost for multiple starbases per sector apply for a core world's first starbase?

@Briefvoice or whoever does our ship deployments, thoughts on how both Appinae and the SBZ are going to affect our deployments? A bit tight, no?

If the SBZ garrison requirements can be delayed until next year, and the Apiata ratification doesn't happen this year (extremely likely), we'll be fine. We'll be getting 5 Connie-Bs and an Oberth then.

This is what I'm worried about. Taken literally, this means a Betazed starbase would cost 50pp, which is ridiculous.

This is our last chance to push the Kadeshi and we want to peel the Gretarians, Yrillians and Daiwar away from Cardassian influence.

EDIT: plan vote changed

I like Ord Grind Duk more then Amarkia but have been convinced by the people talking about the defenses there being better. Plus there's going to be major trade going through Amarkia considering it's the bridge between the homeworlds and Apinae.

I like the one Excelsior per sector we've been working towards but I think it's too easy to be an ambition. We're going to be starting the Ambassador in the next few years (2315 or 2317 I think) so it's pretty much guaranteed to succeed.

hey @OneirosTheWriter i found something moderately important...
1 Oberth-class @ Utopia Planitia Berth 1 (ETC 2310.Q2 - Crews deduct 2309.Q2)

its 2311 and i am 80% sure that that bad boy did not launch yet.

also, is there a list of our current ships in construction sorted by completion date instead of whatever method is being used in the Shipyard Ops post?

and @SynchronizedWritersBlock im pretty sure we are getting a new Excelsior to the general fleet this quarter/last quarter from
1 Excelsior-class @ Lor'Vela OCF (ETC 2311.Q1 - Crews deduct 2310.Q1)
unless it does not exist, in which case i am confused

@Briefvoice or whoever does our ship deployments, thoughts on how both Appinae and the SBZ are going to affect our deployments? A bit tight, no?

Here's a hypothetical deployment that covers everything.

Vulcan Sector (D12)
Fleet: 1 Constellation [Sappho] (3), 2 Mirandas (4) [T'Kumbra, Thunderhead], Starbase I (5)

Andor Sector (D9)
Fleet: 1 Constellation (3) [Docana], 1 Oberth [Suvek] (1), Starbase I (5)

Tellar Sector (D9)

Must be a misprint. We have an Oberth under construction, but it deducts crew in 2311Q2 and completes 2312Q2. We didn't have any Oberths under cosntruciton in 2309.

My Shipbuild spreadsheet is tight, showing every berth down to the quarter. Look at it and you'll see everything laid out.

Trust me, we aren't missing any ships.

and @SynchronizedWritersBlock im pretty sure we are getting a new Excelsior to the general fleet this quarter/last quarter from

We already got it, it's called the Thirishar, and we assigned it to the Klingon Border Zone.

[X][SHIPYARD] Ferasa

The Caitans seem to have a lot of experience when it comes to smaller ships and I think they deserve a boon after their help in the current Orion affair as well as their behaviour during and after the Dawiar war. Plus since north and south are the only/best possible areas to expand its location will likely soon become far more central than it already is. In return I would build the next major military shipyard on Amarkia since that amkes even more sense in my opinion.

  • Request Mining Colony at Lapycorias XIII, 8pp (4 turns, gain +25 br/year)
  • Request Research Colony at Ke'Luur, 8pp (6 turns, gain +7rp/year)
  • Establish Betazoid Counsellors in Starfleet vessels, starting with Explorer Corps, 8 turns, 40pp (Increased Retention nets +.25 Officer/Crew/Technician in Explorer Corps)

  • Request focused Diplomacy on a potential member species, 10pp (Dawiar) [Can be taken up to four times]
  • Request focused Diplomacy on a potential member species, 10pp (Kadeshi) [Can be taken up to four times]
  • Request focused Diplomacy on a potential member species, 10pp (Gretarians) [Can be taken up to four times]
  • Request new Starbase I [Apinae] 20pp for home sectors or CBZ , 30pp for KBZ, +15pp for each Starbase past the first
  • Request new Starbase I [Rigel] 20pp for home sectors or CBZ , 30pp for KBZ, +15pp for each Starbase past the first
  • Request new Shipyard at Amarkia, 45pp (12 turns, 1 3mt Berth, 1 1mt Berth)

I personally think that we should wait for the new admiral and if/how he results in new Old Guards before we make any serious changes to our command structure since otherwise we could waste a perfect opportunity for some reshuffling of the command structure. I also remain unconvinced that creating a SBZ is a worthwhile investment, especially if we focus our diplomatic efforts on the Gretarians and a possible dialogue through them. Instead I would rather build some starbases in the new sector's (and I picked Apinae over Indoria because the latter is already near the CBZ starbase which might not matter for event rolls but should matter in military logistics). Ah, both of those places already have Starbases though I guess they don't yet count towards its defence till they are fully integrated. Well in that case let#s get started at building that shipyard at Amarkia immediately since with our admiral bonus we should have enough pp (should end up around 135,7)
