Yeah, we'd have 6pp banked, which means we'd be able to do the academy expansion next year near guaranteed(unless blue kirk causes a major diplomatic incident :p )

EH, we can get an Academy next year.

[X]Plan Building the Peace

Also, for those interested: Enterprise has 10! Presence. Our other ships have a mere 6. A Sovereign class showing up on someone's doorstep is less impressive than Captain Nash Ka'Sherren and the Enterprise!

Where is "Kahurangi's special ability" listed? I believe you that she has some ability to reduce build costs, but I swear I can't find it listed anywhere on the information pages?

I'ts listed on the second update, I think, but yeah, @OneirosTheWriter it would probably be a good idea to list that on the front page, as well as the other abilities admirals give us

Edit:huh, given the timing of the edit on the front page, I've been ninja'd!

I don't see in what world shipyard expansion can be a higher priority than the academy. Don't you see how much more we are limited by personal than by berths? We aren't even running all current berths right now. We should expand the academy for each of the next 3-5 years (which would only be about as much of a relative increase as the shipyard expansions suggested for this year) depending on how income looks and expand shipyards when we have spare pp for that and nothing more urgent. I also want to try the budget request to see what we get, anything other than just bulk resources would also be more valuable than more berths. Even bulk resources could run short if we need to spam Constellations in a war.

Because it amuses me, I want to remind everyone how Captain T'Lorel was described to us.

Captain T'Lorel
Vulcan Female, 68
Current Assignment: USS Chreon, Constitution-class, Vulcan Sector
The very soul of patience and insight, may re-roll failed First Contact events

We have entered orbit around the world of Shar Kallor, an Andorian colony, to intervene on behalf of the Federation. The local government has been fractured by internecine fighting for weeks, and we have been asked to mediate. Our mission would be made easier if the locals had also asked us to mediate. They are demanding that we stay in orbit and do not come down to the planet surface, so they may be left to their devices.

I will not comply.

Patience.

The local politicians were not pleased to see me. However after applying nerve pinches to a number of recalcitrant officials allowed my security officer to seize their phasers, we were able to start afresh. It seems that this conflict arose from disputed borders between estates between two of the major social groups on the colony, and through illogical behaviour was allowed to escalate into a general conflict. Resistance to the restoration of order has been fierce, and two of my security personnel were killed when our air car was brought down with phaser fire. After directing the Sarek to fire on the surface emplacements that brought down our craft, I have beamed down the entirety of the Sarek's security department.

So much patience.

I have beamed my security contingent back to the Sarek now that the situation appears to be resolved. After spending two days fruitlessly attempting to bring the two factions to the negotiating table, I instead arranged for transporter pattern enhancers to be placed among the belongings of the two faction leaders. Once those enhancers were on the persons of the two leaders, I had them both beamed to a meeting room on the Sarek, where I joined them. After I informed them that if either left the room under any condition without an agreement being signed, that they would be considered in revolt against Andoria, it simply became a contest of patience.

Yes, clearly the very soul of patience and insight. I mean, true... from a certain point of view.

I have come to believe that that descriptor was sarcasm

T'Lorel is patient in the way the scouring desert wind is patient as it wears away at flesh and stone. Nobody said that patient meant nice.
Indeed.

T'Lorel was quite willing to sit down and take some time to hammer out negotiations. And, indeed, she did that after she could get them to finally sit down -- bearing in mind that the officials 1st ignored her and then threatened her with phasers. In fact she's kinda underselling the fact two of her officers were killed when her aircar was targeted and hit by no-joke a SAM (SAT?) battery.

There is a time for patience. However, the demagogues of that planet who had stoked their people into borderline civil war had long passed it.

In fact, on review of the logs, you could say T'Lorel is actually trying to be quite diplomatic about the whole thing by understating the incidents. Vulcan-ness coming to the fore or her trying to avoid outrage in the rest of the Federation so the colony can breathe and sort itself out?

Plus, nothing says that later, the rebels don't wind up in custody on other charges.

Firearms charges, for instance.

Firearms charges, for instance.
Tru.

Aside: Are they really firearms at this point? Would they be like... particlearms? magneticarms?

This is like when I went down the rabbit hole of what you'd call a phaser weapon the size of a rifle, since technically a phaser weapon isn't rifled.

((obviously you'd just say rifle because it has connotations beyond that but shhhh go down the rabbit hole with me))

Okay, voting will close in SIX hours.

OneirosTheWriter I noticed we don't have any contact with the Gorn did you forget about them or are they simply outside star fleets sphere of influence right now?
They're suffering at the moment for my not wanting to go through every species in the show. I'll add them as you run into them.

@OneirosTheWriter , do the Mines count as Industrial Expansion?
Yes.
