@OneirosTheWriter i was looking at the front page and noticed that the affiliates have not had their relationship numbers updated though you do have them on the most recent snakepit.

Also as we unlock functions can you remove the locked message?

They are a race of heavy-set warriors, who are at a technological level similar to Earth a bit more than one century ago. Regrettably, they do not have deflector shields, nor an understanding of them, for a number of their small attack craft collided with our shields while performing close passes of our ship in what I am informed was intended to be a "threatening" manner. This was deemed cause for an all-out attack, however, by directing all energy to shields, we were able to render ourselves effectively impervious to harm. After waiting out their attacks, we hailed their commander and were able to return to diplomacy.

T'Lorel is very patient, and will let you suicide yourself into her shields until you get tired.

Eh, I don't know. It's hard to figure what research paths will ultimately pay off the most, though I find the argument for Xenopsych convincing and Computers presumably eventually lead to AIs.
Keep in mind that this is Star Trek, which means deliberately making AIs is likely to get us killed. Accidenting the birth of an AI is fine though, so long as we make sure to not suddenly flip out.

[X] Commodore Sanik

[x] Spock - Xenopsych
[x] Sensors: Vulcan Science Academy
[x] Daystrom Institute - Computer

I'd like the Sensors over Comms, largely because I want that first Tier of Anti-Cloak.

Okay, heads up everyone. The research master post has been UPDATED.

The Ship Design Doctrines are dead because after reviewing them, they didn't do what I wanted them to do. There is now Fleet Design and Fleet Tactics Doctrines, with some more explanation as to what they do.

Also, I'm expanding my little combat calculator to also handle crew losses. A.k.a., fun times are here to stay.

Indeed, let's research a little anti-cloaking technology. Have to say, though, those new Fleet Doctrines are pretty sweet.

Appointment:

Research:
[x] Spock - Xenopsych
[x] San Francisco Fleet Yards - Starship Design (Explorer)
[x] Daystrom Institute - Computer

The Office of Naval Architecture supports our preferred candidate.

I like the new tech trees, you are making me want to boot up HOI 2 now. We are going to have to think on those before researching since we can only pursue 2 of the 5.

Personally, I think the inherently defensive nature of the Federation lends itself strongly to Fleet in Being (home defence) and, similarly, Base Strike, as it lends itself to *defending* against starbase and planetary attacks as much as it does for offense.

Yes, these are basically the USA techs in HoI, but that's because the Federation *is* Spess USA

Yeah, it's not the most three-dimensional of the species. Not sure what to do about it, mind you.
As Akuz said, we turned them Randian pretty cyberpunk and it seems to fit. If the Ferengi have the 80's Gordon Gecko capitalist covered, what with their "put a slip of latinum in the family box when you visit," Orions covers more the cyberpunk "corporations on the level of the State" angle. On the plus side, they're highly libertarian and if you're tired of the stuffy society of the Federation, you might fancy yourself a free-thinker and go there. On the other hand, you literally have to pay for a firetruck to come to your house.

Add the fact that all the traditional gender roles are flipped and its interesting. You'll never realize how much you associate secretaries and nurses with women until you're going back through a draft of something and you keep having to flip the pronouns.

Hmm, next time we do something in-depth with Orion I may try and adapt some of that.

Hey master-level Trekkies, is it just Romulan Ale that's illegal in the federation, or is Saurian Brandy illegal too?

Awesome.

So it's just Romulan Ale, and not Saurian Brandy or Klingon Bloodwine.

:D

Something that surprised me btw in the romulan fight is that they seemed to lack the punch that the Plasma Torpedos should give them considering ho they always seem to be strongly alpha striking based on there sub doctrine.

Maybe the Romulans were concerned that Plasma Torpedos were becoming obsolete and sent a strike group to find out. The Commander of that flotilla was told, of course, he was to attack the Klingon colony, but the Romulans knew that two Federation ships with a perchant for meddling were in the area and would allow them a politically safe weapons test. RIP that commander, she died doing what she loved: being a pawn in the endless machinations of the Romulan state.

Now they know their weapons lack the punch they need. I'm sure we'll see developments on that front soon.

Maybe they'll steal some of our tech to do so usiNG SOUSA BECAUSE SHES A ROMULA

I'm mentally drafting a ficlet the Enterprise's latest adventure, (I've actually got "Captain Ka'Sharren gets Married" in proofreading right now) and I'm looking at taking the route that @Iron Wolf was talking about (Partially because it's familiar to me now)

Awesome.

Yup Kalifel is illegal, it's like a Cuban Cigar analogue.

I'm not saying I'm drafting out Yukiko Kahurangi and her inner circle of appointees in the O-Club lounge at Starfleet HQ having a few bottles of select federation alcohols playing a round of Fizzbin or two, buuuuut....

Tbh, I didn't do special calcs for the effect of cloaking between two cloak-using powers. I figured that between the two of them it would all balance out. It doesn't *yet* properly handle three-way battles where the factions operate on fundamentally different doctrines.

Please remember... we don't know the Senator's gender and we never will. I notice @OneirosTheWriter wrote it ambiguously quite deliberately.

Ohhhh.......

> : |

I saw "Beautiful Senator" and I assumed that the Senator was female, as you can see in the ficlet that I wrote "ENTERPRISE WINS OVER THE AMARKI" (Which I suppose was gently sexist of me > : P, though I have almost never seen men refereed to as "Beautiful" unless the point is that they look feminine)

Of course, bear in mind that anything I write is only "Canon" as much as @OneirosTheWriter makes it.

EDIT: Aslo bear in mind that I'm writing these bits for fun and welllll.......
