For the Tauni, I would say Constitution-A, Constelllation and Miranda-A and maybe the Oberth. Once they have been affiliates for a few years I would pass on the Connie-B and Centaur-A

Yeah but I don't want to give them the Excelsior and this way we should get them caught up to T 0 in all techs at least as from the description they are all over the place in terms of tech. So Constituton A and B, Constellation, Miranda-A and Oberth would be all I consider for now. Probably pick two designs, and send the rest once they hit 300 and send the Renissance once they hit 400.

Maybe the SDB could take a look at what parts are actually in each ship? If it turns out that all the parts in those 4 are all that's in the Centaur-A, for example, then would we really be giving anything extra away by giving them that as well?

@OneirosTheWriter, can you clarify whether we actually picked up 30sr or 10sr in the Q2 GBZ? We should have gotten 30sr, but only 10sr was mentioned in that update:

The biggest danger of sending them a design is someone leaking it to the Cardassians and them exploiting any weaknesses they find during a war, isn't it? So I don't think we should send the designs of any of the main classes we would fight such a war with, no Excelsior, Renaissance, Connie-B or Miranda-A. IIRC they were specifically asking for cruisers and I think Constellation-A is a good compromise of sending them a modern design that doesn't expose us to as many risks since those would probably mostly stay away from the front-lines even in a war.

Not viable. The Tauni want our ship designs, like they want to join us, because they want to be better defended. Not sending them at least the Miranda-A would be downright insulting towards them.

On fleet distribution, I'm mostly fine with Briefvoice's earlier draft.
My only issues with it are that I think short-changing the LBZ may not be wise, since it now effectively covers diplomacy to 2 or 3 affiliates (Ked Paddah, Laio, maybe Tauni*) and the Licori.
That and I agree with SWB that the SBZ could replace the Miranda-A with a Centaur-A for Sydraxian diplomacy reasons.
* Tauni could be part of Rigel sector's responsibility instead, like Yan-Ros and Honiani already are.

Because in their position the implicit request is for combat ships. The Tauni only recently became a free people, and they did so by force of arms. They affiliated with us in the belief we would help them defend themselves. That's been a very consistent theme. We need to give them something that can be seen as working towards that goal. And we're probably not going to give them Connie-Bs or Rennies, so the Miranda is it.

As I just stated before your post, can you find a way to put an extra diplomacy ship here? The LBZ is responsible for the Licori and 2 to 3 affiliates: Ked Paddah, Laio, and Tauni (if latter not already the responsibility of Rigel sector).
Perhaps shift over something from the RBZ or KBZ, now that we have a Caldonian task force in the vicinity there?
