As you should, for at the end of the Deep Space Station tech tree lies Yorktown!

I'm fine with trading information for information.

I missed that. It was hidden behind a Spoiler Tag.

For your interest, a build schedule I've been playing around with.

I hope you like cruisers.

CLA = Constellation-A
CLR = Constellation Refit
MRA = Miranda-A
MRR = Miranda Refit
EXR = Excelsior refit
EXA = Excelsior-A
CEA = Centaur-A
AMP = Ambassador prototype
RN = Renaissance

It might be an idea to shift some ships to our rimwards sectors to prevent raiding. From the first encounter it seems like the Hishmeri shy away from fighting powerful ships.

Not a fan of building more Constellation-A's. Too crew expensive. I'd rather build one Renaissance than two Constellation A's.

I think the big question with the Hishmeri is where they're trying to get to. Are they just wandering aimlessly in search of resources, or are they specifically wanting to get coreward?

In the former case, if I were the Hishmeri, I'd just go spinward and skirt the edges of Federation and Ashalla space. Avoid provoking either of the huge empires, and prey on any unaffiliated powers (like the Ashidi) I encounter along the way.

In the latter, I'd probably try to strike a deal with someone to pass through their space. Maybe approach the Klingons with an offer to help against the Romulans in exchange for passage. As nomadic raiders, the Hishmeri have almost certainly done merc work before.

It's especially weird since that screenplay was written in part by a British man. :confused:

My personal theory is it was supposed to be named something else, but the USS Yorktown saved it or was destroyed there or some shit and it was named Yorktown in memorium.

It's definitely an Enterprise exception too. We were told at the time we obtained Chen's bonus that prototyping with it would cause issues. That position was reversed when the Enterprise was lost and the proposal became to build a new Enterprise.
Leslie:

"Yeah, it's not going to be easy to cope. I think me and Bob have it under control, though."

It's possible (?) that we commissioned from one of the member state berths, I can't remember if they had their own 2.5+ berths at game start. Alternatively, in the wake of the Rogers crisis, the Council slapped Starfleet's hands and transferred a berth with Excelsior capacity to a member world.
Except that none of the member worlds HAD explorer berths at game start, which is why I posited that the Lor'Vela shipyard (leased to Starfleet in time immemorial and operated by Starfleet at least in the 2290s) built Courageous and then was shut down after a secessionist attack wrecked its explorer berth in 2294

It's the only way the Enterprise ever meets other ships!
Problem: we have no Enterprise. All we have is the other ships that get blown up to show off how tough the Menace of the Week is. :( !

Although hey, maybe they suffer from overpopulation and we could gain diplomatic points by killing a bunch of them. You never know!
Enterprise:

"I ran into people with an attitude like that once. It was creepy as all hell. I mean seriously EW."

Look, if she pushes one more first strike war she has to cross the aisle and join the Hawks, it's in the rules
If she pushes one more first strike war and acts like as much of an obnoxious moron to Sulu as she did to Sousa, she doesn't just have to join the Hawks. She has to join @Leila Hann 's version of the Goshawnar. :p

Given that we have a significant number of sectors with only one garrison ship per, that we're probably going to add multiple new sectors within the next five years or so, and that we're going to chew through SR at a rapid rate building Rennies at the maximum possible pace at Utopia Planitia...

This seems kind of counterproductive. We need hulls, and refit Constellations are about the most economical hulls possible for high-class event response. The biggest reason not to do it is crew, and if we have enough crew for refit Constellations then we should build them.

I see that quadbuild of Rennies at UP and I like! The Renaissance wave might have been delayed but it's still coming!
Leslie:

"Yeah. It gives us something to do during the negative four hours a day we're NOT nursing along those Ambassadors."

[laughs]

I'd rather do the Kepler prototype at UP, mainly for fluff reasons, and in case the Heavy Industry Park helps it.

And I'm not sure about the Miranda-A new builds.

I think we need more Constie-A's for response more right now.

So question I keep forgetting to ask.

The Romulins refer to Fed classes with the first letter of the class name. We have 3 classes that start with C. I'll assume they specify that Centaurs are C-type frigates, but what about the Constellation and Constitution classes? They are both cruisers ever since the Coni-B refit.

Shit I should know my parliamentary procedure better!

Task Force Splinter incoming.
Oh no

four of them, and since they're being built on Mars we could probably get away with four humans...

Did you plan this @Briefvoice

... Actually though they could be each a different artist from the four founding members.

Leonardo, Donatarra, Micha bev Gallov, ka'Raphezen. :V

Don't forget Rigellian captains for all four.

I think realistically we'd have to switch it up. I mean, if we wanted to do this.

Now I'm not deep into the TMNT lore but I do have wikipedia. Since Leonardo's the leader, Rigellian Captain for the Leonardo. Donatello is the scientist/inventor, so Rigellian CENG or Science officer/XO for the Donatarra. Michelangelo likes to have fun so, uh, Helm I guess? For the Micha bev Gallov. And Raphael is a fighter so Tactical/Security on the ka'Raphezen.

Together, they fight crime SPACE CRIME.

Our crew income is actually rapidly improving, to the point that we're running into a BR/SR shortage instead. A pair of Constie-Ps gives us some excellent responders very cheaply (70br/50sr, basically +10br/+5sr over a Miranda-A) on that score.

Also, @Briefvoice how many more Excelsiors do you plan on building? Their heyday will come to a close as soon as we launch the Ambassador.

We should be a bit careful, if we use up stuff like TMNT references just for some cruiser built on mars we will run out of rigellian names way too quick. :)

The massive incentive for parallel builds means we're probably better off building waves of Rennies there. Also, I'm pretty sure Utopia Planitia tech team WON'T be designing the Keplers, so it may just plain make more sense all around to stick them in someone else's berth. Once we know how long the project will take it'll be easier to decide.

Don't forget Rigellian captains for all four.
