For those wondering what the Design thread has for Ambassadors, the last two designs currently standing have primary identical stats, and similar material cost; they differ in crew requirements and build time.

Basically, we choose longer build time with less officers or shorter build time with more officers.

C8 S9 H7 L9 P9 D8
O7 E7 T6
300br 240sr
4 3/4 year build time

C8 S9 H7 L9 P9 D8
O6 E7 T6
300br 250sr
5 5/12 year build time

So, 2/3 year difference in build time for a difference of 10sr and O1.

Yeah, I do kind of expect the quicker build design to win, but we should give everyone who tried their hand at designing a big thank you.

Looks like a design that'll make the Pacifists pretty happy. Which I suppose they haven't had much reason to be happy lately.

How far did we disseminate the Biophage research? Because unless we are incredibly lucky, we won't get rid of it till every possible host is inoculated. Is everyone even keeping with the innoculations? It has been a few years.
And with how much life there is in the star trek verse, and with it having access to cloaking warships, I wouldn't be surprised if it has more than a few planets in our area. It will not get technology from low tech planets, but in game the Beast can research and innovate, and it can always reverse-engineer captured ships.

This is of course, only locally. Beyond our sector who knows how far it has spread. I don't even want to think of it meeting the Borg, whoever wins that conflict will be bad news for everyone.

plus on officer for a -3Q build? that sounds mild

then again building one of these is a project of its own right

Anyone else becoming convinced that procedural generation has boned us, and the Cardassians are popping duranium champagne and serving exotic crystal caviar over on their side of the Gabriel Expanse, wondering why they would ever bother fighting the Federation for the scraps nature left on our side?

Nah, I suspect all the resources to be in the unexplored Sydraxian corner, which will cause them alot of salt once it's found out after they've definitely given up on expanding into Gabriel.

We really need to push hard for more resources. Urgh seeing this, makes me want destroy all Cardassians mining bases.

In my defense, I posted the longer build time design back when the short build time design had crewing costs of 8/8/6 instead of 7/7/6. :V

Has anyone considered yet that the "infected" bird of prey was actually a fake? Both other powers would prefer for the federation to be distracted and were surprised we finished the licori stuff so quickly and anyone with common sense would shoot the ship first and only scan stuff later, thus making it easier to create a fake. Not that this would change our reaction, but it is at least a reason to lessen the panic in this thread a bit.

I actually have a dirty suspicion the Ambassador will have a refit fairly early on to install phaser arrays instead of banks once that tech is unlocked, which should add some combat oomph.

I would imagine that between burst torpedoes and phase arrays we will be able to add +1-2C to almost everything if we wanted to. Assuming the sheet is correct...

@OneirosTheWriter, some corrections:

308 / 8 = 38 rem 4

28 Tech Teams Activated, 4 Boost Applied
60rp carries over, 248 used
We should've activated all our 29 tech teams.
29*8 + 4*10 = 272rp used
36 left over (although we've since gained 25rp in Q3 Captain's Logs and looks like another 5rp from GBZ)

Continued Diplomatic Push

None
As others have said, we voted for the Yrillians, and the Ashidi was supposed to be strike-throughed, but I believe you gave us the Ashidi diplo push as well because you were in a "good mood". Yrillians diplo push should still result in quarterly rolls.

Challorn should have the "(Blooded)" suffix like Kumari has.

This section is still missing an 2 extra cargo ships that we voted for back in mid 2313. It does list the 2 extra freighters that we voted for (to total of 4 freighters), but not the 2 extra cargo ships (to total of 6 cargo ships):
[X][FREIGHT] Send 2 extra freighters, 2 extra Cargo Ships (-15pp)

Unclaimed:
19 Dorsata II - 10sr/yr mine site, small interest
Also unclaimed: 31 Miele - research site interest as noted in 2314.Q2.M3:
I'm told that 31 Miele is being considered for a research colony, but I am loathe to invest in it at this stage.

Thanks this is helpful info.

So we got an additional 5rp, while Apiata has gained some more substantial BR.

Apiata may want to consider some newer ship designs that take advantage of their new BR income (br/yr: Sguirri XI +50, Dorsata V +20) over their lower new SR income (sr/yr: Dorsata II +10).

I have only recently arrived within the Collie System to review the disposition of the new Gabriel Border Zone force, and I am pleased with what I have found. In spite of the pause in operations, the assets here have not been idle. The Collie repair yard has been completed, each of the three outposts have been reinforced, and a series of defensive minefields have been arranged protecting strategic points. As dispassionate as I am to be, it is nonetheless of comfort to me to be on this side of the mines this time. A weapons station has been added to support the repair yard and the outpost at Collie, and stations at key systems in between Sguirri, Collie, and Tal Hanar have been added. With the return of damaged craft and other reinforcements, our prospectors are once again beginning to push out.

The arrival of the two Amarkian Hebrinda-A cruisers also represents a healthy boost to our combat forces. After our meeting with the Apiata, we are told they are considering relying primarily on their full Queenships for hive defence and dispatching a third Little Queenship team to bolster their forces in the Gabriel. I am informed through other channels that the Caitians are still organising an expeditionary force, and will likely join us during the new year.

Also good to know. We're building ourselves quite the invasion prospecting fleet :)

Question: Are those "two Amarkian Hebrinda-A cruisers" replacements or reinforcements?

@OneirosTheWriter @lbmaian looking at last years Ex Astris results and the Snakepit the Cronulla VI research colony should have been 1pp cheaper due to Message Networking.
Huh, yeah that should be the case.

On the other hand, we did sneak in a 1pp saving in 2314 because the Betazed Starbase was erroneously discounted by 25% instead of the correct 20%. So this balances that out.

We should just ensure that the 1pp research colony discount applies in all the following snakepits.

Why would they need warp capable vessels? From what we have seen, the biophague cells don't age. If that is the case, they can afford to take the long way around and run on impulse alone. Combine that with the fact that the biophague can use purified metals as well as biomass to make more of itself and it turns out that it could grow without any of the powers noticing. I wonder if the change of diet would result in physiological changes to the biophague? Might change the form they take into something akin to Stargate Replicators in they remain unable to absorb biological material for long enough.
The context was that specific omake I quoted. You need warp capable vessels if you want to build up any sort of force in years rather than decades.

Those are replacements for the damaged cruisers
I'm aware of the replacements; just wondering if these were additional reinforcements on top of Hebrinda and Hilindia.

Based on their doctrine just replacements they need the two going through repair and refit to support their two Riala back home.

Thanks for the fixes. I was trying to put the key information in a more easily accessible area.

It struck me earlier that part of why the Defiant class is so crazy, is that it participates in the initial phases of battle, and absolutely mauls opposing escorts even before it joins the heavy metal for later phases.

@OneirosTheWriter , I understand if upgrading the phasers requires refits in all our ships, but is the same true of the sickbays? I mean, I'd expect more powerful phasers to have bigger components, power draws or both, but a sick bay? Most of that stuff I'd expect to be possible to carry in by hand, maybe with 2 people for the beds because they're unwieldy due to their size more than anything, while power draws and the like remain similar or the same.

But even if it does require a major refit, is Starfleet Auxiliary going to integrate these sickbays into the new hospital ship class while there's still ships under construction?

Say, how do the T2 Sickbays compare to the old T1 versions exactly, and can we do what Hazard just said, because it seems kind of stupid to have to do a refit for just the sickbays unless there's a pretty big difference.
