An image appears on the viewscreen, a command centre aboard the RDS Yagad-Tich. A Tellarite Starfleet officer appears on the screen, and behind them is an assortment of Rigellian and Starfleet technicians, working the member world capital ship together. "Admiral T'Lorel, a pleasure to hear from you."
"Commodore," is T'Lorel's terse reply. "I understand you are ready to proceed."
"Set to warp on a moment's notice, Rear Admiral, just give us the word." The Commodore gives a broad grin. "We have a direct fix on Ynnead Outpost's orbital location and will be giving them very little notice."
"Then execute the attack, Commodore," orders T'Lorel. "Aim true, and keep your mind sharp."
"As ordered, Rear Admiral. Task Group 3-1 out!"

Ynnead colony has been taken successfully, with no ships lost ... but the Yagad-Tich suffered badly for a mine it ran into on the approach. Unfortunately, there are only so many practicable ways to approach a planetary defence platform, and mines are no more expensive than photon torpedoes to make. In addition to that, the Hadabat is scratched up. But the outpost was destroyed, and the colony occupied, giving you an ideal stepping stone to launch right into the Gammon system. All in all, you gave compliments to Commodore Wev, and a hurry-up to Heidi, who is researching anti-minefield techniques. A smaller ship than the Yagad-Tich could be wiped out.
Your engineering teams are already establishing a listening post at Ynnead to provide intel on the Kortennon. So far, though, your ships are telling you that the Baron has holed up with his fleet, the Needle heading back to join him there.

The Ked Paddah officer, a lean and walnut brown Andorianoid looking woman, her antenna swept back along curly hair, watches the Starfleet officer across the table carefully. Her silence lingers on, until even the diplomat alongside the Starfleet officer begins to fidget. Finally, though, the woman nods, and she hitches forward, propping her elbows up on the table.
"Acceptable," she says curtly. She reaches for a device built into the table and has it scan her hand. A definite click precedes the device opening up like a flower and a series of holographic images beginning to display. "We will see what cooperation nets both parties. You see, we have an Aggadah, one of our battleships, clearing spacedock next month. With that available to bolster our defensive positions, and the Federation tying down the Arcadian Fleet, we feel comfortable launching a major offensive."
"What is the target," the Starfleet officer asks. The officer is a tall and Vulcan, a choice made with composure and prudence in mind. "Perhaps we may offer some support to your operation?"
With another button press, a series of arrows extend from Gad and Ashira to the Arcadian planet Ixaria. "We aim to finally nullify the most dangerous of the mentat-users: House Ixira. They are without doubt the most reckless and least restrained. For the length of the war, we have wanted to remove this influence. However, House Ixira has always been able to pick up our approach and muster sufficient forces to supplement their fixed defences. Our expectation is that with the Federation and the Gaeni opening a new front, it will no longer be possible to muster that force. In spite of this, their fixed defences are still considerable."

There are no uniforms aboard ship. The technology appears civilian. The registry says it is a civilian ship. But it wouldn't take long to realise something was amiss. To find the racks of experimental Mark-III family phasers, the sheer number of modified Type-V Zero-G suits. The dozens of little pieces of definitely non-civilian hardware and comms lying about. And combined with the way every officer and spacer aboard conduct themselves with an iron-clad purpose, it was clear this was no civilian vessel.
And god forbid anyone takes a peek in main engineering, or inside the warp nacelles.
The ship is crewed by members of Starfleet Intelligence, and carrying members of a number of different Offices. The key office numbers, however, are 24 and 10. Members of the Special Security Projects Department, and the Irregular Operations Department. Both typically rivals, but working together for a project.
The cargo bays of the Hummingbird have been refitted as hangers, carrying runabouts and shuttles. Together with warp nacelles fine-tuned for efficiency and whisper-like subspace wakes over performance, and the sort of sensor-dampening tricks one would think could only come from the devious mind of a Romulan, the Hummingbird may not be a proper cloaked ship, but she was close enough for Starfleet Intelligence's purposes.
"Ladies, Gentleman."
A short, lean, and altogether mean looking Amarki stands behind a lectern in a briefing room, with a few dozen of Starfleet Intelligence's finest ahead of him. He holds everyone's attention effortlessly as he scans the room. "You all know me. I am Commander Iltoor Paralan, a transfer from our counterparts in the Confederacy of Amarkia. I will be joining you all on this operation. We have been training hard for this, and it is time to show you our true, final objective."
He turns around and the image of a large installation built into the surface of a moon appears on the viewscreen behind him. "The Anoxa, a super-weapon built into the moon of Gammon itself, Naravonn. We need to take this out of commission before any advance on Gammon can be contemplated. Sisters, brothers, this is likely to be the most dangerous, elaborate mission that Starfleet Intelligence has attempted in a very long count of years, and one of the most crucial. This is a dangerous mission, and one that can easily become a one-way suicide run if we fail to execute it with precision."

Tbf, it wouldn't have made a huge difference, since I would have added it into the Skirmish phase and it would have pulled back after driving off the AHS Needle. The outpost was work for the big boys.

Sending Thuir (TF1) and the middle deadline on Gammon seems far better than pressing the attack with our best ships out of action. These two options go together, as does rushing repairs on the Yagad-Tich which turns a 6 month job into a 6 week job, in time for the two month Gammon deadline.
It's actually fairly pointless to make a decision on Calamar at this time, given that we will lose ships either at Ixira or at Gammon. So the cut off decision for now. Same for the next target, that's pointless to set.

Our commanders were making noise about a forward base at Kappa Tau. If we commit to it now, we have TWO diversionary attacks happening that the Acadians cannot ignore, and the outpost will be finished just shortly after the Gammon campaign. In other words, now is the opportunity.
Since we're making the Kappa Tau outpost, a minefield to protect it seems sensible. It makes the cost of raiding it quite a lot higher.

Why did she not use all of TF3 for the attack on the outpost, then? Her plan was outlined in an earlier update, and it was to use TF3 as the attacking force alone, with TF1 and TF2 as blocking forces. So she is telling us directly that she plans on attacking using only TF3.
e: Plus, Nix, look at how the combat engine works now. We don't get the benefit of all our ships anyway. Heavy ships need to be massed seriously to have a proper effect on the battle.
