Member World Coordination Office - Member and Affiliate Shipbuilding Update
It's just occurred to me that we have more knowledge of the plans of
affiliates than we do of Starfleet auxiliary commands.
@OneirosTheWriter, can you start including the ship construction plans of:
Starfleet Engineering Command
Starfleet Medical Command
Starfleet Logistics Command
Starfleet Colony Command
alongside the MWCO or Shipyard Ops reports in the future?
With the GBZ colonialism competition going on, the Starfleet auxiliaries are starting to feature more and more.
Vulcan - Constitution-B (NCC-1753)
Huh, anyone else notice this? This is surely going to the last Constitution ever constructed.
Surprised the Vulcans didn't want to wait one more year for the Renaissance. Or maybe they want another member fleet to take the Renaissance plunge first.
Amarki - Centaur-A (NCC-2128), Cargo Ship, Civilian Ship, 1x1000kt Berth, 1x700kt Berth, 1x500kt Berth
Betazed - 1x1000kt Berth, 1x400kt Berth
Caitian - Hospital Ship, Civilian Ship, S'Harrhr Auxiliary Yard @ Ferasa [2x600kt]
Well that's a lot of shipyard expansion.
What's really notable about the Amarki construction is that they're building a 700kt berth. That's too small for the Centaur-A and just large enough for their own escort designs. They also already have a 700kt berth at Selindra (and maybe more). I strongly suspect their next escort design is going to remain below 700kt to take advantage of these berth sizes.
I think Betazed currently only has 1x1mt and 2x400kt berths, so the additional 1x1mt and 1x400kt berth is a huge investment for them.
Those Caitian 2x600kt berths may be intended for auxiliary ship construction, but they can be repurposed to producing their escort ship classes in a pinch.
Anyways on the Orions, I imagine they're going to, as
@aeqnai put it, snap the spine of the hypercorps and really scale them back to integrate them into the Federation economy. Then get things like universal health care, massively increased welfare, maybe even with a universal basic income in some fashion. I'm thinking they'll get corps down to working more on delivering product than delivering
profit.
I don't think the Orions are going to fully embrace the Federation welfare approach, but I can easily see them compromising to adopt Rigel-style capitalism and mercantilism (and I don't think Rigel believes in the historical definition of mercantilism that's all about economic protectionism).
When the Orions join up, the mercantilist party is gonna be a force to be reckoned with. Depending on the Federation's major colony population threshold, the Orions have anywhere between 3 to 5 major colonies (Alukk 20, Celos 10, Akola 8, Duaba 7, Broken Chains 6).
