Okay, given I don't want to write the next week straight away, and you're still coasting on the decisions made in the previous vote, here's a choice of next post:

Another Miracle of Ship Birth post
A detailed post on a fleet, like the Confederacy of Amarkia Navy post
Politics post
Something else?

A starfleet design research post.

Want to see the inner workings of the Rennie research.

Politics

How about an unknown cardassian client's view on Cardassia's turmoil and rumoured conflict with an far off enemy aka federation.

Another Miracle of Ship Birth post sounds good. See, I'm hoping you finish that series before the Ambassador prototype starts because we're planning to build it in the SF 3m t berth. Hoping there will be an epilogue post showing everyone's reaction.

Hard to write that without giving away information we shouldn't have in-character.

By contrast, a politics post or a "details of a fleet" post gives us information we SHOULD have in-character, and may inform or at least color our decisions.

I'd be okay with politics, provided it was relevant.

Ideas for a politics post?

Well, I suggested something on the Indorions, because we know almost nothing about them and if this turns into a war they're sitting in the most strategic sector in our entire territory. Knowing a little more about them would be nice.

EDIT: OH MY GOD I FORGOT ABOUT THE QLOATH.

The Qloath would also be very much a good choice. I think they may be even less a 'known quantity' than the Indorions. If only because the Indorions have a clearly defined 'hat' of being practical industrialist people who build lots of stuff, while the Qloath kind of, uh... don't have a hat. It's unclear if their hat is 'political intrigue' or 'plays' or 'exploration...'

Hm, actually the single unifying theme there...

Maybe the Qloath species' collective hat is drama.

How would you show that then? What sort of cultural traits would that be?

Do they wear a lot of masks?

Does their culture accept the basic assumption that everyone plays role?

I was just thinking that I wished the Qloath had a better "Hat" or whatever, some way to remember them.

Miracle of Berth would be the most interesting but politics of either the Indorians or the Q'loath would be more important as they may have some problems/information we should know about.

Huh.

I could maybe do something with that...

I just need to review all our interactions with them; there aren't many, most of them being from 2308-9 when we were running our explorers around in circles trying to wrap up the Dawiar war by finding a way to talk to them.

I know Nash ran into the Qloathi (and naturally seduced one of their politicians). They helped us talk to the Dawiar. I know Saavik ran into them a few times, and likes them (not without reservations). Anything else?

I'll be happy to do it myself of course, if need be- I'm just going to be busy for a while, so it'd have to wait a bit.

Qloathi are big on exploration, drama, and theatre.

The "Leb" in each of their class names means "Ride", which is a word they use for their most important tales, as they almost all involve riding out on an adventure. In addition to the theatre districts in the cities, there is also a rich tradition of "theatre safaris".

Here is what Saavik thinks about the Qloathi, in her clearest statement on their personality.

Captain's Log, USS S'harien, Stardate 24547.7

We have successfully tracked down this elusive eddy and properly analysed it. As valuable as this is, my senior staff and I are of the opinion that this successful cooperation with our Qloathi allies has been even more important. Captain Nin Ocarsis has been an interesting colleague in this exercise. I find that the Qloathi are like humans except without some of the illogical absurdities and predilections for "mad science". Ideal humans, in other words.

I am told this is likely to become a play in Arquenious' major theatre districts. I am ... ambivalent about this prospect.

[+5 rp, +25 Relations with Qloathi]

Given that and the constant obsession with theater and plays, my conclusion is that Qloathi tend to externalize a lot of their wilder creative impulses into works of interactive fiction. See, the thing about plays is that the audience is smaller and more personal. Just what can fit in a theater. So it follows that if there are lots of theaters then there are lots of Qloathi doing theater as a hobby or second career.

O something like that, anyway. The point is that they're dramatic in their fiction so they can be boring in their regular life.

Anything to do with ship geekery gets a thumbs up from me.

What's their opinion on Shakespeare? :V

Wait. Interactive fiction.

So, they are great at making video games?

We need to send them a copy of Zork.
