Same, but that would have to wait for a Romulan or Klingon version of this quest if one is made, since the federation signed a treaty with the Romulans not to use cloaking devices.
The federation did use a cloaked federation made ship in the TNG movie Insurrection, but it was later stated that section 31 made the ship.

Counterpoint in favor of the midline thrusters. We are so early that just the number of hulls available is a sharply limiting factor.
Starfleet is TINY right now, barely a few dozen hulls total. A single specialist ship will take up a significant portion of Earths total tonnage. That then cannot do anything else should need arise.

I guess, but in order to not sign the treaty we'd have to make ships good enough to significantly alter the outcome of the war in the federations favor.
That treaty was signed in 2310.

I think multi-role starships are the way forward, but for now we need a ship that can tell a rando who comes to Sol to fuck off, and we aren't good enough to make that multirole.
