Ohaithar, Erwin! Why am I not surprised? Because he's a recurring character in TV and Taylor is DOOMed, so I was kind of hoping to see him here.

At this point, I think he may be legally required for any fic where Taylor is or can turn into a large lizard. I'm just saying.

Ahhh, young serpent. Just because Golds fall under the good guy category, doesn't mean they have to be nice about it.

Remember: Good Is Not Nice.

Hell, I like to think I'm good even if not Good. I'm sure as hell not Nice.

Great chapter, now that guy has some confidence to interrupt two dragons talking.

Erwin just doesn't give a shit. He's been a few places. He's done a few things. It'll take a hell of a lot more than an overgrown freezing lizard to scare him.

...Okay, so the larger members of the Family qualify, but he'd like to see you do any better, dammit!

And here I am being squarely in the Nice side of things ... And rather Vindictive when lines are crossed. ;;;P

After a bit of a re-read, and with a notebook to keep tract of ideas by chapter, I have some suggested chapter names for you. For the first arc:

1.2 Pieces falling
1.3 Falling in place
1.4 Leaving the shell
1.5 Exploring the nest
1.6 Stretching her limbs
1.7 Leaving the nest

Remember: Good Is Not Nice.

Hell, I like to think I'm good even if not Good. I'm sure as hell not Nice.

Reminds me of a quote one of my Shadowrun characters used to explain why he was dragging the crew off Hooding to break up human traffickers: "I'm not a nice man. I'm not a good man. But there's some shit you just. don't. do."

He didn't have many lines to cross but, if you crossed one, he would make an example out of you. It's how he kept right with himself doing the rest of the shit he did for a living.

After a bit of a re-read, and with a notebook to keep tract of ideas by chapter, I have some suggested chapter names for you. For the second arc:

What, no Shell Shock?
I'm not claiming to be the best at coming up with names, but since no one else on this site seemed to want to try, I thought I would take a stab at it, as per the author's request. If you have some better ideas, please do feel free to post them; I'm not happy with all of my suggestions, but figured a poor suggestion that inspires others to do better is better then no suggestions at all.....

Also, sorry about the double post, but I miss-clicked on "post" when I was planing to cut and edit in to my last one.

@Jacen1 And I thank you for your efforts. I'd like to get at least one more set in, so I can pick and choose; So far, I have two sets, one from the CrossTimeCafe' where the chapters have been posted for slightly longer than they been posted here, and of course, yours.

@Haiku Uhm, maybe? No one's quite sure if he's a Francis or not. :) (Yes, I'm shamelessly borrowing humorous concepts from ALL OVER THE PLACE. Muhahahahahahaha!)
(Seriously, When I need something fun to read, CrimsonSquare's Learning to be Human is one of my first choices, along with Constellations, Fourth, and Taste of Peaches.

For everyone else : While SV seems a little less prickly about borrowing characters, I do have MPPi's tacit permission to use Erwin in an Omake such as this. As to why he sold Uber his old German binoculars, he bought a pair off this Russian sub captain who hid a Typhoon class sub in a river in Maine when he defected...

As I said before, I'm doing a quick re-read, and I have to wonder if this:
Again, he felt ice water in his veins, and he looked up to see a glow in Naurelin's jaws. It started off with the red and orange of mere fire, and slowly worked it's way up the spectrum, until it was a brilliant blue color, almost blindingly bright to look at.

Lung began laughing, an odd sound coming from his inhuman jaws.

There was a flash of blue light, followed by a substantial concussion. Lung, the Dragon of Kyushu, screamed in pain as his entire right side became vapors as the 60 foot stream of plasma turned everything in it's path into component atoms. The air around the stream super heated, and rapidly expanded, creating a visible shock wave that blew out windows, cracked pavement, and did considerable damage for 50 feet around it.

That's Darwin Award material, right there. For anyone short of Triumvirate level, the proper response is a) Faint, b) Run away and don't stop, c) Freeze, d) Develop urgent need for spare trousers.
Presumably in that order? I'm fairly sure that if you're as terrified as you should be in that situation, your legs are perfectly capable of running away without your input. Right up until they realize Tia is right in front of you, and that running doesn't help.

Continuing my re-read, I somehow missed Tamara's appearance in Chapter Pi. Which leads me to wonder if/when the mystery of Ragnar will next come up to be addressed.....

At this point Erwin is a Worm Meme, the sailor, ex-secret agent with a pair of testicles bigger than all the male members of the gangs in Brockton Bay put together.
I mean, he talks to Dragons, is friends with The Family, kicks ass and takes names, can make agents from the freaking pentagon crap their pants, never pays his tab, is drinking buddies with LUNG of all people..... I mean if you told me Erwin could kill Zion....i would probably believe you. This guy is reaching the upper levels of the Saxton Hale scale.

Erwin (non canonical picture) :p

@XenoTekker I was spending my first year abroad, learning to love the colors haze grey and Navy blue. :) Also finding out the foreign anti-nuclear demonstrators were much more polite when protesting unlike US anti-nuclear protestors...

Is that the infamous cousin of Kaiser with the uncertain name.
Yes, it is. As said before, I'm borrowing humorous bits and pieces from all over. I am in awe over how many different ways CrimsonSquare described facepalming in Learning to Be Human. He is unlikely to show up in the main story, but Omakes are fair game

As I said before, I'm doing a quick re-read, and I have to wonder if this:

was inspired by This:

Considering I've not watched any Godzilla movies for a long, long time... Probably not. That part of [3.13] Tempest was showing Taylor's Shard derived power in action; She was absorbing the energy from the flames, the kinetic energy from the street light, most of the force from Lung's blows, and then channeled it back out into her breath weapon, taking from mere fire (~1000° C / 1832° F) to actual plasma (8,000° C / 14,432° F) for the couple of seconds it existed, plus being able to channel the normal cone shaped attack into a line (or a long, skinny cylinder, anyway). Be very afraid when QA figures out how to dump it into Dragon!Taylor's magic. Metamagic feats, anyone?

Who Ragnar is and why he is the way he is will be tackled here soon enough. Why Tamara was talking to him? It's just who she is. Why is Ragnar important? Not telling. :p
