Sakura is her Soul Gem. If she's desperate, there's probably nothing stopping her from spontaneously learning to teleport her Gem to her body.
That's maybe a thing that could happen but it seems hilariously unlikely. How would she sense the world around her to pick a destination?

Also, if that was a thing, when we grabbed her Gem at Masami's wouldn't her Gem have left without her body instead of the other way around?

I honestly think we really ought to have more confidence and faith in Mami. If she sees Sabrina unable to trust her, it's not going to be good at all for her psyche. Plus, seriously, guys, she's badass

From a watsonian standpoint, I kinda understand wanting to let Mami take the lead for once, but from a Doylist standpoint, doing so is pretty much asking Firn to give us the answers to this particular conundrum instead of coming up with our own, and I'm not sure how comfortable I am with that.
IMO, that would only be an issue if we keep handing Mami or another NPC the reigns.

I think Firn would let us take the back seat every now and then, so long as we own up to whatever consequence that brings.

I think we want a step between 'consult, but we make all the decisions' and 'ok it's all up to you now my brain is going to peace out a bit'

For example: she consults, but that after a quick joint planning session she makes the call, and while everyone makes snap calls in combat individually, she calls the overall reaction to changing circumstances

I kind of assumed that was the plan anyway: not just "here Mami, now you do things" but more "Mami, you're better at stealth than I am, I'll have you call the shots on how to approach that tower."
Edit: actually, even that isn't quite right; she might have a better plan than sneak attack, and we should listen if she does.

Oh Jesus.

Op fails.
Mami blames herself.
We keep reassuring her it's okay.
Shit piles up.
Mami falls into depression

We turned Mami into Fluffy dragon.

We really are an inverted Moid Protagonist.:o:confused::o:confused::o

No, dammit! Sunshine and smiles! The op will succeed, Akiko will surrender, no casualties, and we figure out how to unwitchify grief seeds just in time for Rin to learn how to generate a body from scratch! Failing that, we successfully therapy Mami to a clean bill of mental health. Maybe in a world with wishes and magic, wishful thinking can work. Have faith, this is an important character development moment for Sabrina: does she really trust Mami, or does she just think she's as useless as Mami says she is?

Shit, I think I just used up all the optimism in the thread with that post.

Nah, I still hold out hope that we can one day hang out with Sakura and Rin. Maybe go out on a quadruple date night with MadoxHomu, OrikoxKirika, MamixSabrina and SakuraxRin.

That thought requires an absurd amount of optimism.

Within the Soul Gem range. I don't think she can think without her body, but if the Gem's only like, 50m away, she might be able to teleport it back to her body (and the body obv. has senses.)

And presumably, she was focusing on teleporting her body, 'cause that's the instinctive thing to do. The teleport feels like a local thing, it's something you can be dragged out of. So we grabbed her Gem when she wasn't expecting it, and pulled it out of the effect. If she focuses on the Gem specifically, that won't happen.

Eh, we'll deal with that if it happens. I think we can move out of body range and stay there before she figures out how to do anything without a body.

That sure were an interesting twelve pages to read after waking up.
I really liked Sabrina realizing, how she's been behaving towards Mami, depressing as it was.
"Yes. She will be talking to... Miss Ueda." Oriko stops talking for a moment, but just when you're about to probe further, she continues. "One of the Tokyo groups. Sakura brings her in."

"They're still in Sendai?" you ask urgently.

"Yes," Oriko says. "They will be... near the big radio tower."
So, if I understood the last part of what Oriko said right, Sakura will teleport to Tokyo to get this Ueda and then they talk? Does this mean Akiko will be alone for a while? Also she says they will be near the radio tower, which doesn't mean that they are there right now. Might be just overthinking this, but if she isn't there yet maybe we could ambush them? Let's see what Mami comes up with.

[x] Go quietly.
-[x] Ask Mami to lead this Op.
