That reminds me of shadowruns. What if we Rebellion now? What if we're being played by Homucifer and Oriko's actually out to break down the universal barrier? If Homu knew what we'd expect, she'd use her time stop powers that she had in the barrier instead of the bow she had after canon. And Kyouko said that amnesia didn't work like what we had. Botched mind wipe? Or completely successful one?
If true, there'd be nothing we could do except get in line for the Homu lobotomy or go for a scorched earth "tell Madoka everything" endgame. :p Or witch out to get pulled out by what's left of the Law of Cycles/get it to merge with Madoka if she's in the barrier at the time.

So while that would answer a lot of questions, let's operate under the assumption everything is as it seems...until we see our first Clara Doll.

Also, let's never, ever, ever mention Rebellion to Homura.

[q]Check minor NPCs for if they have faces or not.

-[x]Kyubey mentioned your power earlier, Homura. We think that it's pretty cool. (an unsubtle warning that Kyubey's onto her.)

Guys, just a thought.

It was mentioned that Oriko hired or was planning to hire someone.

Was it specifically said that she was hiring a magical girl?

Is a .50 fired from a few hundred meters enough to destroy a soul gem? Or a few shotgun blasts at point-blank?

Yes. A high caliber gun point blank at least does it, we saw that in timeline...3?
Thats assuming homuras weapons are purely normal, and not enhanced by her holding them.

And if orikos about stopping madoka, a high caliber to the head will do it before contracting.

But if you catch them untransformed, a bullet to the head should disable most for long enough to finish them some way.

Rebellion, lel.

And as for killing Madoka, Firn's said Madoka isn't Oriko's target this time, I think.

EDIT: Yeah, here.
Ok, so double post, but whatever. I want this as a new post by itself.

One last hint, three for three.

Oriko has her own agenda, and that agenda is not, I will say it again, not to murder Madoka. It is to save Mitakihara and the world, yes, but does not currently involve at any point Madoka's death. That can change, but not at the moment.

She is still antagonistic to you and the rest of the Mitakihara crew.

Anything more, I'll let you figure it out on your own.

As it is, I've said a lot.

EDIT: Oh, and you're free to meta away with this hint, as with the others.

I'm pretty sure she "only" shot herself through eye, level of ludicrous gibbs confirms that...

In the event that she's marshalling mundane forces (which I consider reasonably unlikely, there'd be a few troublesome hurdles to clear), it doesn't change much. Either she'll go for overkill (driving a truck bomb into Mami's apartment building, nailing us with a recoilless rifle from a mile out, ambush of trained soldiers with assault rifles, nerve gas while we sleep, whatever), and we'll be unable to plan for or mitigate it, or more or less the same tactics we'd use against a magical girl should serve.

It just means we should go looking for her. Give her less time to set things up. Which is kind of what we have been doing. Making contact with potential allies while canvasing the place. If she wants to fight while we're alone, we can choose to bail unless we think she's bluffing against our willingness to engage. Mostly depends on what Kirika's doing at the time. Oriko by herself is super squishy.

Of course, there's always the [q]Storm Oriko's house vote for if she crosses a line or we decide to go straight for the scorched-earth endgame.

While I'm not against letting Homura know that her trump card was compromised, revealing her power to Mami is still something she should do on her own.

I'd be okay with leaving that for the later meeting- except that we're going to push for transparency anyway and the heads-up that she may as well use it in the next Witch fight's a quality of life thing.

Sure, it's probably a bit more diplomatic to do that, but it's a question of "can Homura mention her power without it coming across as forced, and will she do it before Kyubey blabs to Mami about it, undermining the show of trust".

As your vote stands, it's still a breach of 'our' trust with Homura. Weather Kyubey reveals her trump card to Mami isn't something we can control. But prompting Mami to ask about it 'is'.

At some point we need to either go on a solo hunt or with just Homu. We stil need to see what happens if we try "cleansing" a witch.

Yup but it can wait for the moment. Was considering trying it after the meeting but the timing wouldn't work. Solo might not work in case familiars swamp us at a bad time- Homu help is called for.

Anyway, taking the last line out of my earlier vote since it's not really worth the risk.
