Thank you for the update!

- Is there anything Mami wants to do?
- Mami and Sabrina just bought a camera recently, I'd like to mess around with it before we forget we have one. Fly around and have a photography date, basically.
- We could be productive and do some magic research, start figuring out telepathy or hope-flavored magic or whatever other ideas we have lying around.
- If we wanna hang out with people then we can do video games, arcade, dancing, karaoke again, shopping, movies / shows, bowling, etc. Probably not that interesting to read about, though.

I do like the idea of having Mami tag along with Sayaka and Kyouko, while we go hang out with Madoka and company. We've wanted to give Kyouko and Mami a chance to hang out without us being present for a while, and we've wanted to follow up on Madoka a fair amount as well. My main concern is whether it's too early for that - it's been years for us OOC, but IC it's only been a few days since the Kyouko and Mami reconciliation started in earnest. I'm also a touch concerned that we'd be implicitly trusting Sayaka to chaperone, which is a fair bit of stress to put on her when she's stated a desire to take a break and decompress a touch. What do y'all think?

This feels like the most sophisticated deployment of Brinapilot yet. Like, I knew Sabrina had a pretty well developed personality by now, but wow did you do a lot of work turning that vote into this update.

[X] Sayaka had suggested that Kyoko might appreciate hanging out with Mami without you. Ganging up on Sayaka might be fun?
-[X] If Mami goes for it, remind Sayaka that she literally asked for it.
-[X] If Mami doesn't go for it, honestly you're not sure what to do between now and dinner.
--[X] You have some half-formed ideas about throwing Mami's connection magic at the telepathy wall and seeing if anything sticks.
--[X] You and Mami could have a quiet afternoon together.
---[X] Photography date?
--[X] You could check with your other friends to see if they're up for hanging out.
--[X] You could fly to the Yamato shipwreck and retrieve it for Yuki to refurbish and install Sasami on the bow.
[X] If Mami wants to train Sayaka with Kyoko, hang out with your other friends.

Not gonna lie, I kinda want to try making the Memory machine and see if Sabrina had any memories before waking up.

A good test aswell if we finally use it on sayaka to see the day she got witch kissed.

Just ask Sayaka and Mami? They both understand Kyouko better than Sabrina does, they can decide if the idea has any merit and they're the only ones who know if they're up for it.

I think we talk to Mami about her relationship with Kyouko, discuss what to do with the rest of the day (I like Torgamous's ideas), contact Sayaka and then Kyouko to ask if they're still on for training and send Mami off without Sabrina if she wants to join in.

Thanks for the update!

You let your feet guide you down the corridors of Yuki's building, footfalls silent on the carpet and observing the way magic courses through the walls, warping the space as you make your way back to that little living room.

"-there's an excellent ryokan on the outskirts of Fukushima, we've been there a couple times-" Shinobu's voice cuts off as you push the door open. "Ah, Miss Vee, welcome back!"

"Mamiiiiiii," you moan, glancing around the room before shambling over to the sofa and flopping down in Mami's arms, half-kneeling on the floor in front of her.

"That bad?" she asks, amusement warring with concern in her voice as she closes the embrace around you, patting your head gently.

You make a muffled, wordless noise.
I thought we were using a Grief proxy, so we wouldn't have to decontaminate ourselves afterwards.
With your curiosity satisfied, you take a minute to form a proxy body once more - with your Soul Gem, this time. The proxy forms much faster this time, now that you've got it down, Grief seeming to spin out of thin air behind you in successive layers. Except...

"The Soul Gem doesn't look right, Sabrina." Mami nudges you in the side.

"... yeah, I see it," you say, half-twisted around the sofa to squint at the faux Soul Gem.

It glitters in the light, the gold frame affixed on 'your' lapel as it should be, and the silvery-white of 'your' Soul Gem built of layers of carefully nanostructured Grief. It looks like a perfectly ordinary gem, albeit of a colour no mundane gem is. But that's all it is: a perfectly ordinary gem. There's just something missing from it, some vital lustre that you have no idea how to replicate.

"... hm," you say. "I... guess I'll go without. Hopefully Miss Airi won't take that amiss."

With that decided, you settle back into Mami's side, leaning against her and tuning the conversation out as it returns to more mundane topics - Mami and Shinobu swapping baking tips, of all things, while Yuki looks patiently amused, submitting her hair once more to Shinobu's ministrations.

It's another short trip down the corridors, the door swinging open ahead of your hand once more in an odd wave of deja vu, and you step through that little dislocation and into Anri's room. It looks much the same as it did previously: a discarded pile of clothes, now pushed into the corner, and rumpled bedsheets on that bed you can see past the little study table, which is admittedly new, along with a little potted fern sitting by the window.
Maybe it could work as us putting more faith in Anri? Character development!
Nevertheless, appreciate us leaving normally.

This part of the vote feels like a bad idea, considering...
"I didn't tell Kyouko I'd be talking to you about this," Sayaka adds. "Maybe consider giving Mami a push? But subtly."

"Maybe," you say. "Yeah, I'll keep it in mind."

A part of me wants to go to Masami and Hiroko, try to bridge the gap between them and Mami. Works as a reason for not bringing Mami with us and nudge her towards spending time with Kyouko.

Though again, we should also have a "cover" reason to spend time with them. The relationship between Masami and Mami feels like a sore topic that should not be done directly.

Hm. This is hard.

@Firnagzen Sabrina opted to go visit Airi with a grief body while leaving her real body in Mami's arms here but when she comes back to Mami in this update that grief body seems to have been replaced with her real one

I'm voting for getting started on that telepathy research. Mami seemed excited about the idea in this update and she has the rest of the afternoon free to spend with us

[X] Ask Mami if she'd like to spend from now until dinner experimenting with magic together. You have some vague ideas about her connection magic and telepathy that you'd like to try

Not a great plan. Last time Mami came up in conversation with those two, Masami was bitchy enough that Hiroko felt the need to jump in and end the conversation before Sabrina could take a swing at her, which she quite likely would have. That's not really a side of a former friend that Mami should have to see.

We were:

so that is a continuity error. It'll get fixed at some point.

Derp, yeah. That's a continuity error I'll fix in a bit.

So Linux penguin -> we're creating the Linux of telepathy vs the Incubator' Windows telepathy?

I don't know how Yuki would get the connection, when I think of penguins Linux is pretty far down my list of word association

I still don't agree with directly saying Sayaka suggested Mami hang out with Kyouko without us. While I do agree that we should be honest with Mami, Sayaka didn't ask Kyouko about telling us about her problem. It's probably not gonna go well if Kyouko finds out she went behind her back to tell us. Besides, "Sayaka suggested it" isn't a convincing reason by itself and Sayaka literally told us to be subtle about it.

Maybe an alternative might be to instead rephrase what Sayaka told us or what we ourselves found out, like Kyouko wanting to spend more time with Mami and seeing Sabrina as her replacement (Which turns out to be what Sayaka said, oops). If Mami still decides not to, then it's alright. I still somewhat agree with what Redshirt Army said earlier and we'll get plenty of chances to subtly nudge Mami later.
