No one thinks a nanofog cage would be easier and safer? We could always use grief blades or degem them after they're contained if it seems like they're pushing through the cage or something.
Everyone knows about the lich thing but still. Yuma is ten, they're all just kids despite everything. If we can avoid showing them a human blender we should.
I don't see how blades would be faster or safer than freezing the fog.
Ordinarily I'd agree with you, but freezing fog isn't as useful against an enemy who uses energy based attacks rather than physical weapons. And blending is faster than de- Gemming. I'm also worried about unknowns. They may have allies around.
As for Yuma, I'm prioritizing her safety over her keeping her lunch down. Plus, I don't want to infantalize her. It feels disrespectful to Yuma.
Max safe speed for a rock and surrounding cityscape is a lot higher than for a body. Worst case it doesn't work, and we fall back to using the soul gem generated grief blade.
Also, should we try lasers? Either the blinding nonlethal and invisible kind or lethal and visible?
My point was Sabrina's Grief manipulation does not appear to have a "max speed", and I don't want the atmosphere ignited because we weren't taking our (lack of) limits into account. Not to mention the risk to the Soul Gem we're grabbing.
Could we just, sprout grief blades from their soul gems? They'll likely have some build-up of grief at this point, they've multiple gems to target, and it's pretty much impossible to dodge an attack that is beginning literally on your body.
The problem is the Souju's are currently blindingly fast. That could absolutely mess with our precision control. I'm seconding more caution around the gems.
Our Grief control is literally as fast as our thoughts. If they're faster than that, then our only remaining option is to call Homura and deal with them from timestop.
[X]Plan modified godwinson
-[X] Grief armor, keep them within our control range but outside melee. Utilize flight dodging.
-[X] Use grief control blades for maximum bodily damage, simultaneous with a degemming attempt.
-[X] Next time she looks at us snipe her eyes with a blinding flash bang laser.
I do like some of @Muramasa 's suggestions, @Godwinson , but I suspect that you're correct and being decisive in our votes will lead to us being decisive in our actions. We can't really afford to hesitate with someone this fast as an opponent.

Also, on the subject of how serious the Japanese school system is about attendance, who wants to bet that at least a few girls over the years have Wished that school administrators would be more lenient about that kind of thing?
The walls loom large ahead of you, plasticky, half-translucent material forming what you can now see is a vast, arcing ring. Said walls are also under siege, even larger strawberries heaving themselves out of the ground on squat, quadrupedal legs and hurling themselves to splatter against the walls.
We have excellent fine control, the risk to them should be minimal - specifically, minimal enough that I'm happy to go for it and prioritize Sabrina and our friends safety.
I'm ok as long a we get Homura a present she loves. I like the idea of talking to her to fish for ideas. Also, how cool is she in that final Walpy fight!
She might be a bit paranoid sometimes to maybe being painfully obvious about what we're planning so she doesn't get completely blindsided might be good- tho we might be able to pull that off naturally lmao,
In short, we want to seize the means of meguca production. When we're running the factories, we won't be using production methods that make OSHA scream in terror.
I wonder if there's a way to tap into the new potential that gets added after contracting, I know it seems locked to only the witch getting it- but- hm,

Gotta go quick and make sure they don't pull any other tricks so we can check on any other tricks they might have left around lmao,
And blending- is funsies, if we've got a nanofog around too then we should be able to sense any movement anyways right? I forgot if we could sense soul gems with it specifically too
Checking in with Madoka and hearing her out is the most important thing.
Making it explicit that we will break trust and spill any secret we have if the alternative is Madoka contracting in ignorance is another point I'd like to make. I believe that our friends would want that to be our priority if the situation came up, but I want it spelled out for everyone so we're all on the same page about it. Especially with Madoka herself aware that's everyone's priority.
Telling Madoka that her wishing will end the world is lower on my priority list than those two points.
I keep raising it only on the grounds that I believe telling Madoka SOMETHING is better than telling her NOTHING, and because it is possible to tell Madoka about the scale of the risk without going into the mechanism. It is my belief that Homura will object less to telling Madoka this than she would going into details about the Witchbomb or about the Loops.
If that moves forward, we'd probs have to preempt anything QB might be able to bring up against that- like, hrm, y'know the whole "oh, but Sabrina didn't tell you about this did she?" And stuff, we'd probs try to skirt around that and emphasize the whole cognitohazard thing, tho that might make it harder, for us and for Homura to take it maybe- would need more convincing? Iunno. We're not there yet anyways so we've got some IRL time.
Not if the spot size if focused on the back of her eyeballs. All we need to do is saturate that, not even burn her. Heck, a full powered laser wouldn't be effective against a pyro kinetic with decent heat resistance.

Unless soul gems are shattered, you can't meaningfully "kill" a meguca. Mission kill perhaps, but experienced meguca have gone around with 0 blood pressure, if with high magic cost. Which is the point. They're gonna lose a lot of extremities if we have our way today. The Soujus cannot be given a chance to exploit an opening.

The point of freezing the nanofog would be to immobilize them since they're super fast. If they can melt the fog then they can melt the blades, the reaction speed needed to do that would be the same.
Their attacks we can keep dodging and defending against at a distance regardless of our method of attack. Keeping the Soujus still would make defense and targeting much easier if anything, for both us (our grief blades if everyone insists) and our friends, who do not possess the same insane control Sabrina does. It would also let everyone spare attention for other potential threats.
For the record, I'm not trying to single Yuma out, although I'm not sure how much she even processed the lichbomb by her reaction.
They are all children, badass children but still, seeing human bits flying around can't be good for their mental health. Honestly, it's horrible to think about even as a reader. So yeah, I'd like to avoid that if possible.

I guess trying to turn this bandwagon around would probably have proportionally bad effects then. I guess this kind of narrative reflection is one of the best way to handle the flaws of the entire questing genre.
Yes. But grief moves at the speed of thought. Light doesn't. As long as we had a spec of grief in LOS to her eyes we could project blinding radiance, to remove eyes we need to remain in contact with her body long enough to remove the organs in question.
i mean, we're doing all of the above. Sabrina's grief is faster and more precise than light. If they have figured out how to operate as a gem, the less able they are at fighting back, the better
