I read the whole thread up to around page 2500 before cheating and reading mostly just the updates. Then I didn't really read the rest of the thread
It did provide a lot of context and knowledge about thinking about microwaved tea. - It made me enjoy PMAS more and helped slow down my reading giving me time to think about each update and also also forced me to think "If I were to vote here, which vote would I do and why" or come up with my own, which isn't something I'd automatically do. Also, the reactions to the updates are part of the experience itself - that's part of how fully published works can be very different from serials. It also allows more suspense about the future when you limit yourself to not just skipping a page.
Also the various omakes in the thread are very fun to read in between chapters.
I can understand completely not reading the whole thread, as it's what I ended up doing, but without the first 2500 pages of the thread, I wouldn't have enjoyed PMAS as a whole nearly as much.
