[X] Godwinson

I like @Redshirt Army's vote a lot more than the competition, but IRC supports multiple windows, and Sabrina can multitask like a boss already, so why not have two windows up at once?

[X] ... You don't like keeping secrets, but you don't know Madoka that well. You'll defer to their judgement and do it their way.
-[X] As for Iowa, you'll try to gather more information before committing to any plan. After how Rionna went, you'd like more details before assuming the general hearsay about someone's accurate. You're hoping the American IRC group you're in touch with might have some insights.
--[X] Say bye to your friends.

[X] Head home.
-[X] You told #nyantokanyaru you'd be in touch around 1 PM - follow through.
--[X] Be gentle, they seem skittish. Try to reassure them that you don't mean any harm, offer references with the University Group, Ishinomaki. Mention your offer to Tokyo.
---[X] Ask if they'd like you to visit. You're free next week, and if it's scheduled for the afternoon Mami Tomoe can come with you. (Hopefully Mami's reputation as a do-gooder can help you get a foot in the door.)
-[X] Also log into #milesgloriosus to hang out a bit and chat. Nothing heavy, just get to know them more.

[X] While on IRC, confirm meeting times today with:
-[X] The Shiogama Refugees. (To check their mental health, warn about the Soujus, and check their witchbomb status).
-[X] Oriko and Kirika. (To check on Oriko's soul, and update them about Tokyo Politics and the Iowa situation).

[X] Contact the Animators, let them know about the Soujus.
Would it be possible to add that we ask Homura for some bullets to have Kirika enchant? They'll be extremely useful if the Iowa situation devolves into a fight.
Maybe something like:
[] From Homura: borrow bullets for Kirika to enchant.

Reasoning:
Speaking of the possibility of fighting Iowa if kidnapping hits a snag, can we ask Kirika to just keep enchanting as much antimagic ammunition as she can whenever she has time? Just like we have Anri doing clear seed research for us, we can have Kirika pumping out antimagic enchantments for our potential battle with Iowa.
I'm thinking we could take a chunk of metal, and use grief to cut/mold it into numerous small bullet or flechette shaped pieces. Or we could just ask Homura to give us some bullets. When we're in combat, we can just use grief to throw the antimagic enchanted bullets at *ahem* sufficient velocity, and let them get stuck inside of enemy magical girls. It will be nonlethal because our targets are magical girls' meat puppets, and it will prevent enemies from casting magic and disrupt magical effects they already have in place. Furthermore, it will be hard for magical girls to remove the bullets, since they will be lodged inside of said magical girls. Once we have captured the offending magical girls, we can simply use grief to remove the bullets.
Even better, we can ask Kirika to enchant the bullets of the gun we've been toting around. That way if we get hit by some kind of antimagic ourselves we can at least still shut down enemy magic in return. The only thing worse than having your magic shut down is having your magic shut down while the enemy can use magic freely.

The problem is, just saying so doesn't necessarily make her feel or believe it.

Let's try a bit of Homura roleplay for a moment to attempt peeking into her mind - let's say you're Homussu-chan herself, and right now you're feeling pretty useless about you. All your power and you have never been able to succeed in your singular mission, even after hundreds of tries - and now Sabrina says she needs you, that she's relying on you: that "Homura is just *completely* in the way of [Kyubey/Iowa] being a problem". A perfect defense, the ultimate trump card.

Cynical little Devil Hom-Hom on your left shoulder says this is exaggeration, you should just dismiss it. But let's not listen to Devil Hom-Hom for now. Let's assume that it's really all true, turn instead to Angel Moemura on your other shoulder who says believe the statement wholeheartedly, trust that Sabrina really IS relying on you and on your might to carry her through to success.

You- Homura Akemi. Whose power has, historically, never been enough to succeed in so many previous tries, who always fails to stop Kyubey contracting Madoka. What does that mean? It means If Sabrina really IS relying wholeheartedly on you, she could well be up shit creek herself. Because it means she's relying on a power that has never been enough before, so why should it be enough now?

If it's true that she is fully relying on you to cover her back, she is likely screwed and setting herself up for failure, because you know from experience it's unlikely to be enough. That YOU'RE unlikely to be enough alone (hell, you know it, that's why you've often tried to recruit Kyoko you in many timelines).

You refuse to accept that. It can't be true. She can't really be wholly relying on you. She's not dumb enough to screw herself over that badly, knowing already just how many times you've failed. She mentioned all your experience - 100 timelines worth of experiences of failure. Which doesn't automatically mean attempt 101 will work, because that's Gambler's Fallacy. Thomas Edison didn't invent the lightbulb after 100 failures - it took him 900 times more before he got that lucky.

That leaves the other option - her words not entirely true. It's at least partially exaggerated. Which is perfectly normal, people exaggerate all the time.

So you swing your neck around and start a starting contest with Devil Hom-Hom. "How exaggerated?" you ask. Devil Hom proclaims it's all a complete lie. Angel Mura says it's still mostly true. You, Homussu, as the level head in between the Angel and Devil, throw your hands up and go for the middle ground (well, maybe slightly tilted towards Devil Hom since you're depressed).

It's half true then, you decide. She's only half-relying on your power. It's not -completely- a lie, but neither are you as -completely- useful as her words would indicate at face value. You're not really absolutely essential to success. Which is good for the overall health of the mission, since it means someone else can take over if anything happens to you (if Sabrina can't just do it all on her own, look at how well she's been doing).

Which means, should circumstances require it, you can be cut loose to serve the greater good... like if, for instance, you became aware that your very existence was threatening the health of Madoka-sama's divine karmic balance.

Nice words of encouragement made her initially contract to save Madoka but it wasn't those words that fueled her to keep fighting - it was the promise she made in the third loop to save Madoka from making a contract. The very first line of the opening song of the series even goes: "I will not forget the promise made".

The Meguca Army, the Clear Seeds, the encouragement, it's all raising Homura's hopes that Madoka will get her happy ending, true.

But that's Madoka's happy ending.

Not Homura's happy ending.

Homura has probably already given up on herself having a happy ending and possibly gave up on it the moment she was forced to break Madoka's Soul Gem. Remember how I said Homura is unable to separate Homura from Homura's power? This is what I mean. She regards herself now as a machine meant for bodyguarding Madoka. She got her power to protect Madoka, her power is for protecting Madoka, she herself is a shield for Madoka. Not a friend, not a fellow human, but a meatshield.

One who would willingly destroy herself for Madoka if she thought the act would keep her safer.

Please provide constructive alternatives if you know Akemi Homura so well.

Anyway, I guess I'm not getting this, so... Fine.

Only... @Godwinson, what do you mean by "head home"? Why would we go back to the apartment? That sounds really dumb. We could go pop in on Oriko at a minimum, see if she can turn up anything on Iowa, read her in on what we learned.

Hmmm. Idle thought, what happens if Kirika fires her antimagic right at a witch barrier from the outside?
Does it destroy the barrier, kill the witch, and drop a grief seed?
Does it rip a hole in the barrier, letting you go in easier, or letting the witch out?
Does it destroy the barrier, spilling the witch out?
Does it destroy the doorway, preventing anyone from going in or out of the barrier but not harming the witch?
Does it do nothing?

We told Kagoshima we'd contact them on IRC around 1. After lunch is around 1. We should keep our promises with them if we want their trust.

Redshirt. Listen to me:

I'm not saying we shouldn't contact Kagoshima.

Actually, no, I'm not saying that either: I'm not just not saying we shouldn't, I outright -am- saying that we -should- contact Kagoshima.

But think for a second.

Why the hell would we go back to the apartment for that?

So your idea is to just stop at a library or something on the way to the Kure's house?

Could we make a computer out of grief? It would mean we could do the IRC while traveling, cutting down on time even more.

It probably just literally closes the portal.

In other news, Nokia's are so strong that you can probably one-shot any meguca by yeeting it hard enough.

Nokia could be used as projectiles against Walpurgisnacht and I honestly expect them to have a noticeable effect.

Cuz really. I owned a Nokia once. It fell on the floor.

The wooden flooring cracked.

The Nokia didn't.

Not even the fucking camera.

Nokia is the Chuck Norris of the mobile phones.

.... I just had a thought

WPN likes plays....

... so would WPN be weak against a Chuuni? : P

The more melodramtic the better.
