A wild theory appeared!

One of the things we were worried about in the near future: according to Oriko, if she didn't burn Sayaka's house down, Sayaka would have wound up dead tomorrow, with no visible wounds, which fits Rionna's MO. So it is important to examine what change Oriko caused by doing so.

There are 2 primary major effects of this, with a number of subsequent effects:
  1. The solidification of Sabrina, Homura, and Mami as a team.
  2. Sayaka's trust in us is increased a lot.

To elaborate on each point:

The solidification of Sabrina/Mami/Homura team comes by initiating cooperation through shared adversary. Because we were able to cooperate as a team, this opens the door for future trust between us, while simultaneously establishing precedent for cooperation. This is important.

Because the group trust was built on a foundation, it is much stronger, and thus we don't have to spend time wrangling Mami and Homura, and thus have more time to deal with situations like Sendai. Additionally, due to the events surrounding when we first met Rin and Sakura, Mami got lichbombed - another very important point.

Because Mami was lichbombed, she now hates Kyubey, which means that her main issue with Homure (that Homura was trying to kill him) is no longer a problem, thus removing another barrier between them.

On Sayaka:

Her trust for us greatly increased when we saved her life. because of this, she is far more likely to listen to us when we warn her away from doing something (like contracting). Additionally, her increased friendship with us means we can heal Kyouske, and thus she no longer has a wish in mind, and is less likely to impulsively contract.

The improved teamwork is important here, as well, because if we had just befriended Sayaka, and warnd her off from wishing for Kyouske, but otherwise were relatively independant from the others, Sayaka may have tried to emulate our individual results with her wish. She might have tried to wish for grief control.

We know of exactly one instance where grief control turned out well: Sabrina.

However, due to the focus on teamwork, she had seen what teamwork has done for us, and therefore, when Sayaka did end up contracting, she mad a wish to support us, rather than being individually effective.

That brings us to this meeting in particular, with a few conclusions:

Without a team to back us up, this encounter with Rionna could have gone very differently:
  1. Because Sayaka is much more of a team player, she is much less likely to run into Rionna on her own, which means that She is not going to be provoked into attacking her and getting soulsnatched.
  2. Mami is present at this meeting, which means that we are talking to Rionna in a privacy bubble. The privacy bubble keeps out Rionna's shades, and thus keeps us much safer.
  3. Mami being present also means that it would be a much sharper blow to Rionna's reputation if she simply attacked, due to Mami's own reputation for exceptionally high moral standards.

In conclusion, Oriko's actions thus far were to stack the deck for this particular meeting. She even warned us about Rionna ahead of time, and stressed how dangerous Rionna is.

After a prolonged period of vote development, I often think it's valuable to go back to the actual update, and see how the votes actually follow on from that update. And the current ones... kind of fail on that respect.

I've adjusted my order a lot, but I remain open to critique.

@Kaizuki: I guess my urgency with the Ckear Seed thing is basically this: If we can keep Rionna talking, we can gain ground, whether by learning more about Rionna or convincing her. But we're on thin ice here. Rionna's made it clear that she doesn't think Sabrina can help her, actively dismisses the things she's said, and trusts her not at all. And the thing about a potential enemy asking what you really want? It's very close to 'how do I hurt you'. Telling her that we know she has something important in Edinburgh in the context of the last update where Sabrina considered killing Rionna (and Rionna being aware of this to some degree) is particularly bad, because Rionna will likely construe it as a threat. Oriko told us not to ask about her sister probably for this reason.

So yes, I think we're severely constrained here. We have to convince Rionna that Sabrina can be helpful to her, determine whether it's possible to extract concessions on shade use from her, all without touching too closely on whatever secret she has in Edinburgh too closely until some degree of trust has been built.

Looks good to me! States the goals, gets to the point, provides concrete actions for Brinapilot to use, notes that we're not just an individual but a faction. The question we're asking - "What is it that Riona is having trouble with" - is implied, but I think that there's only one way to respond to what we're saying here, and the vote states the goal so Brinapilot can adapt as appropriate and push further.

It's a term I used to refer to our powers, as opposed to False Grief Manipulation, which can only transfer. In hindsight I may have had too much Nasu on the brain.

Some squinting and 1337 translations later:

S. Miki #75382 is accessing a GUCA command console, section Berlin 2, using the code "Have dominion over the fish of the sea".

The command console is heavily compromised; enough so that S. Miki #75382 uses command override "Ragnarok".

The system is wonky and things are going badly wrong, enough that S. Miki #75382 is under enough time pressure to curse the OS. S Miki #75382 also needs to concentrate badly enough to immediately mute the alarms.

There was a witch "Kronos" in containment. It is now free.

S. Miki #75382 makes mention of contaking Yaka prime; through inference, we can assume that S Miki is an abbreviation of Sayaka Miki, and the number is her number as a clone.

S Miki really needs Homura, badly.

As the last entry, she manually activates the True Ontological Mundanity Enforcer, which strips magical effects. It is set to denature 3 Grief Seeds, 1 Witch, and 3732 Magical Effects.

The last sequence is her fumbling for the initialization command code "Valley Of Death".
