...and if the countermeasure fails, amd we win instantly? The point of this spar is to show her that how terrifying we can be. We'll miss the opportunity to show any of our other tricks if we just focus on stealing her gem.

Stealing someone's soul is pretty terrifying to me.
And we aren't exactly focusing on it, just leaving the option open?
How about opening with Gem Get, and if Yuki for some reason doesn't counter, offer her to restart but without haxx?

"Do you wish to restart with a lowered difficulty level?":V

[] Stand up
[] Surround self in thick layer of solid grief, maybe six inches of armor
[] Saturate the building with utility fog, find Yuki's gem
[] Utility fog to maximum witch
[] Put laser pointer dots on Yuki's hands and feet
[] "Ready when you are."
[] Body-kill her with a Prima Luce to the head the instant the fight starts, continue at that threat level until spar over

I like the image of going "bring it on" in the middle of her fortress. I think that we want to go completely all out here, pull out all the things we've theorized about but never done because it wasn't safe to lichbomb people. Also, cheat like a motherfucker, because I get the impression that she's of the belief that if you aren't cheating you aren't trying.

I fully expect her to be able to continue operating as a detached soul gem. We've been observed fighting that way and she's badass enough to have made a point to practice it just in case.

So I'm thinking we should ask if she has an efficient healer, and if so, what the rules of engagement are. Then go as hard and as fast as we possibly can right up to the edge of those rules.

I wonder how much of their rate for Walpurgisnacht came down to the amount of magic they expected to expend fighting it. With our cleansing and a couple of clear seeds, even as leases, we could cut out that portion of the cost.

Of course some is down to risk too, the question is how much.

So how do we deal with her continuing to operate with her body vaporized? Retreat to high orbit, griefhax an anti-magic field or wait for Kirika to finish crafting, and come back to finish her off?

It being a spar precludes some of the more dangerous options, but if this is for her to get a feel for our combat power, should we take a moment at the beginning/end to demonstrate the less discriminating stuff? Like pointing at some innocent mountainside and setting all our Grief to 'laser' for half a second. The majority of threats won't need anything like that much power, and will usually take place in a populated environment, but it is relevant. Plus, she might want her own volcano.

Our lasers have to deal with pesky "physics". Firing a laser that can devastate a mountain would blind basically the entire city, to say nothing of more direct collateral damage.

Griefhax an anti-magic/disabling field, probably, assuming she doesn't yield when we have her gem in our possession for an extended period.

This is a spar, not a war. Total physical incantation is not likely to be necessary. And if it is? Then we can expect she'll tell us if we ask her preferred rules of engagement.

(also, any plan that relies on griefhax is not a plan we should be using in the middle of a fight, real or simulated. It takes way too much time.)

The odds of Yuki not having a prepared countermeasure for a gem yank, when she knows for a fact that's how we took out her employees, are so low as to approach zero.
Also, she already knows we can do that. This spar isn't about winning, it's about demonstrating our combat utility. More than losing, we want to avoid coming off as a one trick pony.

We can sense magic. If she keeps operating without a body, it'll be through investiture of magic into the area of the spar. Just doing enough high-intensity landscaping to destroy the latent magic in the arena would probably shut her down.

[ ] Attempt instawin.
-[ ] Grief fog:
--[ ] Freeze Yuki. Take Soul Gem.
--[ ] Destroy everything inside the room, including the room itself.

Remember the building itself is also the opponent!

Stupid thermal blooming, stupid fragile mortals, stupid physics preventing me from getting a nice lava lake...

Encase her Gem in solid Grief, along with all reachable surfaces if she's using her building control? A bit of a simple and brute force approach, but it should shut down a lot of things.

Just to make sure it's noted: "Location of my choosing" will certainly be "right here, right now". So we should be ready for that.

I basically agree with going hard but let's not be reckless. Given that last time we met up with this group we told them off for going too hard and causing collateral damage it'd be really embarrassing to cause collateral damage here (even if ours is non-lethal and theirs wasn't) so stuff like the laser might be hard to use.

She definitely knows about the gem yank. That's how her friends were beaten after all. So, definite countermeasure for that.

You guys should ask Homura about what she can do, assuming it hasn't been mentioned before. No reason not to seize every advantage possible.

You know, kind of ironically, if Sayaka could copy Oriko's power, that would be a fantastic way to keep tabs on Oriko.

For the spar, my first thought (besides destroying everything) would be to simply use the Grief Fog to stop everything. Of course, this place is so heavily magically shrouded it's making it hard to see meguca with our Grief sense, so that might not be enough. But it's a start.

And again, we might want to make a point to do so right now in lieu of verbally agreeing.

Has anyone asked the Fukushima girls who their enemies are? While obviously it's useful for us to have them in a defensive alliance, the Fukushima girls may have some pretty big enemies they're worried about.

In addition, there's always the chance that the Fukushima girls just lolnope despite agreeing to the defensive pact. Something to ensure loyalty should be done.

On another matter, have we used our wings (in, "translate to a point in 3d space" mode) in a fight or spar yet?

I kind of doubt that, if only because I don't think she wants her base to be collateral damage.
I suspect that this base is only shaped like an office building out of habit. As long as we don't disenchant it she'll just tell the building that it's fixed and it will be. And it's likely to be the strongest, most heavily trapped are she has.
