So, besides letting the Ojous know about Magical Tea™ and asking Nadia if she's met Masami and Hiroko yet, there's something I feel we should share with Homura (if we haven't already and I just don't remember).

We should tell Homura about the Ribbon Grid. Its range it oustanding. If any of our prisoners tries to pull a runner, in between Mami, Homura and us, we'd be able to track them down 100% as soon as we got wind of trouble.

I have hopes that this will appease Homura's paranoia once we try and argue to let O&K have some more freedom.

And the soul hug might help Mami handle being in timestop for that long.
:o

Dude.

Soul Snuggles are already overwhelming on the senses.

Imagine how Mami would feel if there was no sound, no movement, no change, no colour, nothing at all. Nothing but Sabrina.

Throw in a Sabrina clone for double hugs alongside the Soul Snuggles and Mami won't want to leave. She simply won't want it to stop. Game over, man.

Can I get some more votes, and/or discussion, by the by? I mean, I wanna start writing soonish. :p

So here's my variation on the plan. The main difference is that I don't want to continue to fob Anri off on Oriko and Kirika. Sabrina can supervise her, at least for the rest of the day. She really knows nothing about Sabrina, so perhaps she'll try to convince Sabrina of how awful the Peliedes are and open up a conversation.

Can't say I totally disagree with keeping Anri around... my first plan was to keep her around and bring her to Fukushima after talking with Nadia and the Shiogama girls, so we could either drop her there or come back with a meguca guard and thus be free from having to deal with Anri any longer.

The problem would be if, say, Anri starts mouthing off about how we're late because we were out helping out our terrible murderous friends or some other shit.

In general, it might be best to not have Anri around while meeting with the Shiogama girls.

If we drop her with O&K and then decided to go to Fukushima right now (after meeting with Nadia and the Shiogama girls), we could pick up Anri and go, and O&K would have only have to put up with her for a few more minutes, rather than a couple of hours.

I wasn't able to follow the discussion very closely, and I might be going a little insane from sleep deprivation, but whatever.

How about asking Anri whether she'd like to wait somewhere else or go with us? I mean, yeah, and I totally can see how it can go all "what are you talking about? What city? The crater's always been there" kinds of wrong if she does stay with us, but it could create a semblance of civility in our relationship with her.

Another fine point is I think Oriko wasn't entirely precise in explaining Airi's status to her. I think she doesn't really think of herself as a prisoner, more like "indentured guest", if I had to take a guess. By no means it is a belaboring of Amazing Oriplomacy, rather I might have tried to make a compliment. I'm pretty sure. It's all pure conjecture anyway.

So yeah, have fun with that.

I don't know. Meeting the Shiogama girls with a prisoner in tow would certainly set a tone. "She tried to kill some people. I put a stop to it."

Note that Anri doesn't have to be literally five feet away, glaring murderously and talking shit. Sabrina could easily leave her in an orbiting mobile oppression fortress while she talks to Shiogama on a rooftop or something. That's how I was picturing it.

-[] Giving O&K limited access to Mitakihara.

Why does it even have to be Mitakihara? Could be Kasamino. Or anywhere else we can dump'em really. Put'em on a train to Asunaro for a day? Kasamino, Kyouko won't care as long as they aren't doing gucathings and we tell her about it.

Newly given... uh, well, haven't talked about it so let's not do that unilaterally. But Mami has been pretty understanding about the infohazard concerns.

Checking,
You step between them, meeting Anri's eyes calmly. "Airi Anri," you say. "You agree to be detained in Mitakihara?"

"Yes," she bites out, lips barely moving. "Get me away from these murderers."
Anri's agreed to be detained. I doubt she's holding onto any illusion of not being a prisoner.

I guess if we were to try and dump her at Fukushima, it would be polite to ask whether she agrees, first.

I reaaally want to see individual meguca files for all of the Pleiades , and all the others we've met at Sendai and elsewhere! Its very useful for keeping track, and fun to read.

We could keep Anri in an MOF a hundred meters away with buildings in between. No need for anyone to see that she's there.

Thankfully, we've got the Day Planner to keep track of everyone.

Thankfully because writing seven 'files' while trying to inject some humour into them would be... quite a thing...

A lot of 'The meguca Files' was writen as a collaboration with other posters. That was fun. If I go and add the Pleiades to it... uh, that might take a while. :V

How extreme are the hidden variables for our next few updates? An appreciation of the off-color potential -

Anri still holds her angry body posture, but there are signs of conflict and something you can't recognize in her fidgeting. She looks away from your eyes, just a bit. Her lips open, just a bit, and close, before she resumes speaking.

"I have my conditions, you know. I told that greasy lawyer of yours, and now I'll tell you. Ever since they killed Yuuri, I can't do this alone. Make me your prisoner, if you can do what you said for her. But until you do…

Some girl has to be waiting in my bed every night, starting tonight. I'll go mad otherwise! Nobody else is more like Yuuri than me, so being picky doesn't really help me, you know? Just get someone."

She's maybe almost about to cry now, perhaps humiliation, or the mountain of pain she lives under.

Sabrina just has an eyelid spasm. And breaks to vote….

"Welcome to Mitakihara! City of Friendship! City of Magic!"

- If we are starting a "new" city, gonna need some PR for the change, right?

Should we want to create a "better for all" society, hybrid route is still possible. Grab Kirika's parents, recruit them. Use pop culture analogy of 'espers?' Gain experience by doing this, they aren't the last adults we will need to sell the facts of life to. For SCIENCE, inspect their Grief while we are at it. Have Oriko confess to them, long form conversation. Sabrina will prevent escalation, defend marriage, not Kirika. Later, bring in the Mikis, repeat. Have the parents debate. Oriko confesses to her victims, and is able to 'defend' herself since they accept magic. Then, bring in Sayaka, have her listen to the result. We may have to deny loosening parole, but this is somewhat like our IRL current standard. Sabrina is the mediator. The families might even decide to help you supervise O&K, particularly if they have to do a check in system with Homura via phone?

We can, and should, have Mami set her terms of welcome. My prior proposal:
[eks] Oriko Asks. Stop at Anri's room, Oriko can get her a suitcase.
-[eks] Inspect Aurora
[eks] Let Oriko start to introduce us, be open and somewhat quiet. Do not be at all ambiguous, or weak. No anger yet, even if warranted.

-[eks] Ask Oriko to ask conversation - moving questions, observe,

-[eks] Routine patrols with Kures in outskirts
-[eks] If Homura says "no", patrols check on O&K in mansion, handle routine upkeep.
--[eks] We will need to buy her much more tea, hostess favors.
---[eks] Do you have any idea how much that will cost!!

[eks] Mami, gets a photo of us in her hat, then return hat
-[eks] discuss "welcome speech" for Shiogama girls.
-[eks] get her to school

[eks] Sabrina or Homura - Check Shiogama girls for Witchbomb, countermeasures applied
-[eks] ask Homura timestop tonight
[eks] Short tour leading to...
[eks] Take immigrants to the school roof at lunchtime for Mami indoctrination.

@Onmur , good points rolling in, let me stir them

Our first day with Anri is a bit haphazard. Lessen the burden, have Oriko converse with her in your presence about brining her personal effects away right now. It will give us some observation time of the two talking. Kirika stays in MOF with us, maybe Mami goes down with Oriko, check items for escape tool / other risks. Otherwise, if she has a few favorite items (and you already know what one will be?) those may help her calm down. Just offering may help, even if she has no belongings. Don't try a conversation without Oriko present yet. Check on Aurora to productively multi-task. This furthers our position as the worthwhile deal for Anri - she can see us messing about with Grief seeds already. If she wants to talk about it, we tell her not yet, there are rules and restrictions to the work.

Hiring Fukushima might take a dozen Seeds? So we should just hire the lot of them, exclusively. That is more like the value of the Clear Seed. @The Phoenixian - If Oriko makes a space for them to billet, we can arrange a rotation between on-deck with Anri, off duty at the former Mikuni mansion. In exchange, we will ask Homura to grant them three patrols a week around outer parts of the city. She sets the routes and schedules, as is only right. That should keep O&K in verified locations and away from Madoka. Expect frequent commuting as the hired girls swap out. It will actually be better, as we will get some interaction time with the girls from out of town, without us traveling. We need relationship points for when things ramp up. If Homura doesn't like this, then our request for Fukushima will be to re-supply the residents, and notify if they leave.

We should make a Homura moment tonight for face-to-face interaction with her. She is our respected peer, and a heck of a significant part of what we are, and what we do. And it has become mutual. Not really any defined place to even consider "how we are handling her." It isn't a superficial relationship.

First thing we must do is have either Homura or ourselves listen to the immigrant's story once, lightly. Enough to understand if they may be Witchbombed already. That, and the standing compartmentalization talk might need to happen before others get in on the welcome wagon. Perhaps Nadia can be tested at the very same time.

@blast flame , Yes, Mami is the lead girl in Mitakihara, if anyone should ask us. We apologize for taking her away to help the neighbors, which went well. We need to have Mami set up her welcome conditions now, so we all understand them. After that, her experience is key. This is exactly where we should watch her do it right, Ojou Power is a thing. Prototyping the points it needs to include... Suspecting that we want them to "expect to behave as if they are subject to all the normal laws, with limited exceptions. Minor property damage (Sabrina, looking at you....), purposeful trespass, heroic deeds, not currently our problem." "All hunting is O.K., but optional. Save normals from Witches. Seeds do not get disposed of, call Sabrina. Cleansing and clearing are free. Hugs are free. Emergency healing is free. Combat with other girls only at athletic matches, ask us more later. Magic use encouraged, once a suitable location is assigned. Expect to become part of our community, not optional. You are the second and third volunteers, but not the last." "Penguin rule: Don't Swim Alone! In this city we want to live with Magical Girls. Don't risk it. Always call for help at the first sign of disturbance."

Promise them contacts and other courtesy to get into school, identities, whatever. Schedule another talk with them later.

OTOH, if we just got Rufus to handle all our new characters, including Anri, it could be most excellent, @Torgamous

Our current logistics will have O&K watching Anri in the MOF for much of the day. What is a better alternative? Homura tags out after Shiogama welcome committee, and hops to Warehouse with them all? They set up, and we come there to ferry O&K away, while our help travels in to get hired? Sabrina and Mami will be sleeping in the warehouse tonight....

I feel this would take more concentration that we would put on it if we were to only tinker with it on and off..?

I'm not certain how we would go about it, either. We can make a blob of Grief into a likeness of Sabrina somply enough, but we want it to become an actual Clone we could control individually from our own body, right? Even if our main body was de-Gemmed?

It seems simple enough do it by stages:

Start with something very basic, the grief blob formed into a human shape and give it proper texture and pliability. That's as far as it needs to go at the start. We can add more stuff to it as we figure out how and time allows.

Second step is to make it look properly human (A few options there, nanocolor being the first though given the iridescence that usually has, it may be possible to develop pigments if we can simulate the atom. Possibly also via other means.) This can easily start basic and work it's way towards more complete forms.

Step three, though it doesn't necessarily have to come after the second is senses. Touch is something we already kind of get from our grief, and should be easy enough as a result of pliability. Beyond that we're already capable of stuff like rudimentary sight (even if it's not linked up to our vision properly) and hearing seems like a logical outgrowth of proposed sonar research --- though we may also be able to structure an ear along biological principles. Taste and smell seem harder. As above I see no reason we can't start with the basics and work out way up in later iterations.

Hard data is lacking but the work of the making it so we can keep our consciousness even if de-gemmed seems like it would largely be about making a proper magical control network, like the the one for our own body. That will probably be a work of enchantment It's not in our specialty, but on the other hand we'd have a lot of examples. (The advantage of doing it this way being that the research in making that kind of magic network could help with giving bodies to clear seeds.)

Beyond all of that, it may be worth looking into whether any of our own flesh is made from grief and how so that variants of that can be applied to the clone. We did just have the wish-rejection stomach troubles coming up again after all.

Mmmm... If Sabrina wants to fabricate bodies, I think her biggest chance is to cooperate with biology manipulation magic. Griefhax has a level of control that is superior. She should use knowledge to create a scaffold for the magic of her partner, granting pinpoint control and making the job exponentially easier. The initial trial should be smaller and simpler. Arabidopsis thaliana is one of the common choices for a plant model. Sayaka can work with her to create the plant from magic alone, or from a pile of other plant material. The point being learning how to use the other girl's power to form structures only Sabrina can perceive.
The further step is trying to sculpt a similar "scaffold" from the live scan of a Magical Girl. This should reveal the way to alter biology to create the control system a soul gem hooks into. That model is then suitable for population by biology manipulation, magical (or if you have time and a cloning vat) mundane.

Easy, right?

OTOH, let's go into some odd speculation about the clear seeds? I think that we are pretty close to a "raising project" model. Sabrina reduces the seed down to nearly insensate levels. It ceases the predatory thoughts and hunger. I'll extend this and say that just as mingling magic is communication, so is cleansing a soul gem with a grief seed. Use it enough, and the witch will be literally sharing your grief - is this not a form of empathy? The remaining grief may not be significant, just the communication. Do it enough, and someday the witch will accidentally come to understand the one(s) cleaning on her. Given a way to claim a body, and a few soul tweaks we don't understand yet, this opens up a motivation to become human again.

Therefore, clear seeds = necromantic Battle Buddies? Sync up long enough, and they re-awaken a human conscious mind? And by meditating, user can communicate while in direct contact?

Whoa... the "ability to have grace" is juust close enough that we may have to ask if we need Ono for her magic in de-witching?
