Homura's apartment could probably house them all, since her parents are imaginary. Although, I am unsure I want to strongarm Homura into having a sleepover. And really, they'd never get any sleep with all the FUCKHUGE CLOCKWORK ticking away all night.

Maybe we can convince the Kaname's to host a sleepover for at least one night, but three in a row would be pushing it.

Hitomi is already hosting a whole family, she might still have the room, but I doubt her parents have the hospitality to spare.

... and there is the "put them in our personal Barrier" option as well. It would kill an hour of our time, and probably make everyone a bit nervous. But, it is an emergency option.

I'd say we give them a choice when they arrive, list the options and the upsides/downsides to each.

Y'alls, Mami is Japanese.

Sleeping on the floor is totally kosher, if we provide futons. "We can't fit much more in the guest room." "SLEEPOVER IN THE PARLOR ROOM."

Sleepover at Mami's living room?

Mami's gonna get high on sleepovers if we keep this up. :p

The light of the sun barely peeked over the horizon, casting orange rays of light over the darkened room.

"Explain," hissed Homura through clenched teeth, after finally putting down the gun.

"Well, you know," Sabrina spoke softly, "we had accepted Oriko's offer, but then we thought we could have a sleep over as Mami's- I mean, at home, and one thing lead to the other and..."

In lieu of further words, the white haired girl performed what could be described as a whole body shrug.

Both her and her black haired companion turned to look down at the floor of the Tomoe house's living room.

Or rather, at all the girls strewn all over it.

There was, of course, Mami, holding on to Sabrina's ankle with one hand, the other one gripping Kazumi's arm. Said magical girl was sprawled wide, her other arm being hugged by Umika, and Kaoru stretched over her legs.

Off to a side, Oriko and Kirika held each other in a tight embrace, both smiling contently.

Only the sound of light snoring was heard.

Homura frowned. "If they had tried anything..."

"But they didn't," finished Sabrina.

They both looked at each other for a moment.

Blue eyes firm, hopeful, and a bit apologetic.

Purple eyes harrowed, tired... understanding.

Sabrina's lips stretched into a smile.

"Come on," she whispered, wrapping an arm around Homura's shoulders, "we can still catch a couple more hours' sleep."

"What-" Her purple eyes widened as Sabrina pulled her close and dropped down to the floor.

Mami immediately let go of the tall girl's ankle, wrapping that arm around both Sabrina and her unwilling cuddlemate instead.

"Sabrina-"

"Shhhh... don't wake up Mami."

Homura sighs.

She fidgets for a moment before glaring at the black and white couple sleeping but a couple of metres away.

Slowly, her eyelids droop, flicker, and finally close shut.

On the notes of both the masquerade and wish potential, it's implied that pretty much every major woman in history was a magical girl.
...which has it's own huge set of logical problems. Like, Cleopatra was 39 years old, died of poison, and did not engage in personal combat at all during her rise to power. Pretty much nothing about her life jives with her being a magical girl.

On the other hand, we could easily house two at Mami's (the spare mattress and other bedroom, plus the sofa), and the third could room with Homura? Or Kazumi could sleep at Mami's, and the other two at Homura's? If they brought a couple of sleeping bags, they could all stay at Mami's.
Depending on how you interpret Kazusa's comment that Sabrina and Mami are "like" her and Umika and Kaoru, they might not necessarily need separate beds. :D

...Homura has a point, though. I like the Kures, but there's a big jump from befriending a former enemy to leaving yourself helpless in their presence.

I mean, if Oriko truly thought our death was a necessity...well, she's a lot like Homura.

Now the body/gem swap thing must happen.

Maybe before Mami gets on doing homework...

Just picture, Sabrina's body doing homework, Mami's working on Enchantment (Grief Control or Multitasking).

That is what Kyubey wants you to think. How do you think Egyptians got the pyramids? :V

Put on your KyubeyHat and scream "THE INCUBATORS HID THE TRUTH!!1! IT WAS A CONSPIRACY ALL ALONG!"

More seriously, a politically savvy MG that's lived that long doesn't need to get up close and personal with her foes when she has people to do it for her instead. Who knows, maybe she was thwarted by GLORIOUS ROMAN Magical Girl Spec Ops behind the scenes? It's PMMM, let your imagination run wild since I'm pretty sure there aren't any historical records of little girls tearing entire armies apart by themselves during the 100 Years War.

When I was looking up the War of the Roses, I found that Jean d'Arc was still alive, but slated to be executed early in the War.

The hundred Years War had just ended and Jean had played a part in it.

In PMMM that's the period of Tarte Magica.

Here's a quick vote write-up to get us started:

[X] Restore privacy field
[X] Ask Kirika if she can look up Oriko's book release date and any news related to a disappearance of Asuka Yuuri.
-[X]The former is linked to tragedy and the latter to Anri Airi
[X] Discuss...
- [X] The subtler implications of what Michiru said during the (potential seed shortage, troubles with magical girls, Michiru may have learned something terrible)
-[X] Metaknowledge about Kazumi Magica, redact info relating to witches
--[X]Powersets with the caveat that powersets can very easily have changes, get second opinions.
--[X]Kanna Hijiri's motives and powers, in light of the above.
- [X] Tomorrow's visit
[X] Say goodbye to the Kures.
-[X]Ask Oriko if she's ever seen herself using a skill she didn't know or doing something she couldn't agree with in her visions (Did she ever see a future where who she was changed?)
[X] Talk to Homura

(Wordcount: 143-ish)

The potential seed shortage implication is due to both her talk when asked, and also a reason she might be working so hard: keeping things up herself so it doesn't fall on her friends. We've gone over some of this with Mami last update.

If she learned something terrible, let's say "like the lichbomb" rather than what we're really thinking, it would explain why she thinks we're "lucky" for knowing what we did before getting becoming a magical girl.

And trouble with other magical girls in the city would explain both why she was so quick to suggest a visit rather than letting us come herself, and likewise why she's leaving some of her friends behind.

EDIT: By the way I fully expect that there are several holes in that vote right now.

Anyways, you're probably wondering about the oriko bit: here's my thoughts on the matter.

So, Oriko: If her power doesn't show her worlds where she changes, whether by becoming more skilled or changing her outlook on life, then it basically shows her who she is now. (One might say it shows her the meaning of the live she's living here and now, via it's outcomes.)

Similarly, it's been said that when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. But when the hammer is who you are here and now then all you're seeing is what you're capable of without changing, the that system contains all the important bits of an echochamer doesn't it? It's just visions of the future blindly repeating back to you what you already believe.

And people in echochambers like that often become more and more extremist in their views.

So I wonder if Oriko didn't see only futures where she died because of some subconscious wish to die, but rather her power fed her into herself making her more and more committed to the path she was on.

And because, in this theory I'm running with, she can't see the result of her changing who she is in the futures she sees, there was no way out (or rather, she sees the moment of epiphany, but not the thoughts themselves or the person who arises after). So the morbid fatalism isn't the cause, it's the symptom.

We know the book hasn't been released, so no point in searching for that.

I think we can wrap up by letting everyone know about which troubles we might run from Asunaro. I don't think it's wise to poke further into the possibility of Kazusa having trouble.

At most, we could quick telepathy Kazusa asking her to not go Witch-hunting if she doesn't have Seeds.

[X] Make sure Mami's OK.

[X] Bring back Privacy Field.
[X] Share information and suspicions:
-[X] Asunaro's 'villains': Motives, strenghts and powers. Oriko's prediction that the Soujus will come to Mitakihara at some point.
-[X] Jyuubey: How he was made to keep the Pleiades Gems' clean, and your idea the conflict with him might arise from your power actually working when his does not.
-[X] We'll probably have to deal with all this when we go there.
[X] Wrap up, thank everyone, say goodbye to the Kures.

[X] Ask Homura if you could talk now, in private.
-[X] Comment on the possibility of the Pleiades helping against Walpurgisnacht, and your hopes for Sayaka and her bullshit powerset.
-[X] Segue: The better we prepare for Walpurgis, the less reason for Madoka to Contract.
-[] But more important: The best reason for Madoka to not Contract is knowing how much it hurts Homura.

Best I can think up rigth now. I think this is a good stopping point if we even get this far in an update.

Onmur, on the book, consider this: We know it's coming soon, but what does it mean if the book launches two weeks from now? What about if it comes out tomorrow? By this point we've butterflied the exact events away in one direction or another, but I'm of the opinion that a sign on how things might have gone without us, and how long it would have taken, is still important.

I do want to look into whether or not we need to give Michiru a follow up call, but that's best done after examination.

Beyond that, if we want to deal with the Asunaro villains without killing them, discussion of their motives will be important.

(I'll also say that I'd kindof like to make a conversation with Homura it's own vote for it's own update, rather than going into the details now.)

Oriko wrote a book? What's the title? The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Oriko Mikuni? Book of Revelation 2: Revelation Harder? Fingersmith? :D

As for Umika's book, I thought Kazusa said it comes out in a few days?
...

...

...I'm not going to edit that post.

Quickly derailing onto another side note!..

Reading Direct Intervention 49 and 50 points me to something odd: It's where "Homura doesn't know the potential bomb" comes from, but the exact statement is Incubator levels of ambiguous. The only confirmation itself isn't even in the chapter itself, it's a quote from the series in Firn's end of chapter note with a link to an image attached.

Oriko herself never says anything outright. She never alludes to anything more than that Homura is responsible for things going wrong, she doesn't know, that Kyuubey knows what it is already, and that if Homura finds out she will fall into despair.

And then at the start of Direct Intervention 50, immediately after, we get this exchange

Your hands twitch, and you barely restrain yourself from doing something rather precipitous. "Homura can't hear us. No more secrets, Oriko," you snap. "Each loop makes things worse. I know, she doesn't. So?"

You lean closer to Oriko. "What else, Oriko. Is it linked to what happened last loop?"

"I don't know." A faint crease appears on Oriko's forehead, and then her eyes widen slightly. "I don't always see the entirety of events, just enough."

"That's awfully convenient for you." You glare at her. Is she lying? You're not entirely sure, though you don't think so.

She shrugs. "There is no way I can prove it to you. The feathers annoy me too."

"Ugh," you grunt at the nonsequitur.
It reads almost like Oriko was trying to tell us one secret and we assumed an entirely different secret.

In that scenario I'm positing, the crease appearing on her head is her epiphany that no, we missed it, and the follow up with the whole feathers thing, especially the "too," is her trying to clue us in to the fact that "Hey, no, that's not the secret I was talking about."

(And this is also the same chapter where we missed Homura's meaning when she asked if Mami knew the lichbomb in handsign. Wouldn't surprise me if Firn used that moment as setup for this one.)
