Well, one problem is that taking Sabrina up on her offer will almost inevitably make everyone in the city effectively beholden to Sabrina, even dependent on her, for their continued survival. Sure, the first one/two/three are free, but what happens three, six months from now when Sabrina wants something from Tokyo? Will they be able to say no, if their food supply is being threatened?
If we start distributing Clear Seeds, then cutting off the supply will be a non-issue: if I'm remembering correctly, just one of those could last a single meguca for length of a human lifetime. At the very least, it'll last long enough to make starving someone out impractical.

Although we should also note that none of the Tokyo, Sendai or Ishinomaki girls know about Clear Seeds yet. They're still a recent invention.

Their's no need to worry about the Tokyo MGs. They know we have nasty friends, and we're pretty nasty ourselves as we demonstrated when we rocked every single one of them.
That was Sendai that we rocked. We've only met one Tokyo MG so far, and her testimony may not be believed by rival factions.

On the smartphone topic, I just want to say that my parents forced me to get a smartphone and I just want my old flip back. I do all the smart stuff on my ipad, which actually has a keyboard worth the name among other luxuries.
I resisted getting a smartphone for a long time on the grounds of "they break easily", "the batteries don't last for shit" and "I spend too much time on the internet as it is." Now that I have one I find that it's kind of addicting. I made sure to get the last one they still made with a physical QWERTY keyboard, however, because touchscreen typing is bullshit. :p

In any case, we only have half-an-hour before the picnic, and Mitakihara remains Mami's territory. So anything we plan will be for later use anyway, after Mami vets it. We're not sticking Mitakihara in the middle of Tokyo politics without her consent and help.

[x] Smile at Mami. Time to pack up for the picnic!
-[x] Homura offered to keep stuff in stasis if we needed it, but... do we need it? Everything looks like it should keep fine without the help... What does Mami think?
--[x] Abide by Mami's decision either way.

[x] Head out to the park once everything is packed. Keep the conversation light - this is a time to unwind and relax.
-[x] Greet your friends once you're there. Use phones/telepathy as appropriate to get everyone to the same place.

We shouldn't store anything in the shield. Nagisa as far as we know, doesn't know a thing about magic. We shouldn't expose her to it prematurely. Otherwise your vote looks fine.

That was Sendai that we rocked.
Fukushima.

Say we can meet as soon as tommorow, or some time during the week.
As Walpurgisnacht approaches, 'Feathers' forces us to stay close to Mitakihara more and more.

We can tell them that we'll be busy preparing for Walp's Night, so after tomorrow, meguca will have to make the trip here and back to get Infinite Grief Seeds?

Thus, we offer them multiple Clear Seeds up front, and a willingness to cooperate in the future.
You know, a Lie Detector would really help set aside those who would honestly cooperate from those who would not. At the start, at least.

Honest meguca might change their minds later on.

[Q] 'Hey Ono, would you like to try your hand at politics?'

[Q] Pull Mami, Homura, Oriko and Kirika into a shared telepathy conversation.
-[Q] 'Hey Oriko, I want you to speak for me tomorrow in Tokyo. You'll have to make the trip yourself. Homu please is this OK please please?'
--[Q] 'Come on Oriko. You can do better than your old man.'

:V? :V

...By my experience, I have a hard time controlling how much text I want to highlight. The selection box tends to get too large too quickly.

You know, before we start thinking of making multiple clear seeds? We have to figure out how to manage the fuck massive amounts of grief that'll be massed afterwards. There is a limit to how much of that we can carry before it's a problem.

I don't think we would go for it, but I want to throw this idea out there:

For the purposes of... poly ticks... how about we demand payment for Clean Seeds in the form of help for Walpurgisnacht?

Some sort of... honor based system? Let's say each meguca group from Tokyo sends one fighter to represent them, and that's how they're 'buying' their infinite cleansing. Add to that, we can make it an 'all or nothing' thing, every group must participate and every groups gets infinite cleansing.

Added to that, if these representative meguca come to Mitakihara... we would be controlling the flow of meguca who inmigrate; then when word does get out about Infinite Grief Cleansing Works, I think meguca would think twice before just roofhopping in, settling down and demanding cleanses. And maybe more strong meguca would come offering to fight Walpy for infinite Grief cleansing.

And we can make a show of showing off these meguca to Momura and getting her approval. :V Just mindfucks, you know.

(There's lots of problems with this line of thinking, I'm sure, but there's problems with every plan)

Them too.

I do literally all of my SVing on my phone. Every omake, every megavote, every one of my own updates and quests. It's really not that bad once you get used to it.
I consider touchscreens in general to be a bullshit interface from an ergonomics perspective. There's no tactile feedback. Fingertips are broader than most of the things that you're trying to click, making it easy to hit the wrong thing. Scrolling and zooming require touching the screen, which could click something unintentionally. There's insufficient differentiation between simply moving and dragging.

Whereas physical keyboards can be typed on without looking by experienced typists, because you can feel where the keys are. Likewise for other physical interfaces, which can be used without looking and without blocking your view of the goddamn screen, or leaving smudged fingerprints on it.

Can I get things done on my phone if I need to? Yes. But it's a lot easier to do them on a real computer with a real keyboard and mouse.

Ahem. Anyway....

You know, before we start thinking of making multiple clear seeds? We have to figure out how to manage the fuck massive amounts of grief that'll be massed afterwards. There is a limit to how much of that we can carry before it's a problem.
We're going to need to call up Kyubey to take it at some point. Really, we're overdue, since we're already carrying at least two Seeds' worth. And since Mami probably really doesn't want to see the little fucker right now, that's going to mean either a conversation with her, or waiting until we're no longer joined at the hip (which will probably be during school on Monday the way things are going).

For the purposes of... poly ticks... how about we demand payment for Clean Seeds in the form of help for Walpurgisnacht?
That's one possibility. Another is that we could ask for their excess regular Seeds (which we then turn into Clear Seeds and redistribute).

On the Kuroki front, the phone call couldn't connect, which could mean a number of things:
  • The phone's battery is dead.
  • The phone is turned off.
  • The phone is in an area with no cell reception.
  • The phone is in a Barrier.
  • The phone has been destroyed.
  • The phone's EM emissions are being cloaked by Kuroki's stealth power, so they can't reach the cell tower.
The hacker's trace will probably be similarly unable to find it, but hopefully she'll be able to tell us where the last tower that had contact with it was, so we'll know where to start looking.

if I'm remembering correctly, just one of those could last a single meguca for length of a human lifetime.

You're not remembering correctly. A single one lasts twenty meguca a human lifetime. If only one meguca uses the seed, it'll last over a thousand years.

So. Looking at the math, here's my analysis of clear seeds.

Using @Kinematics numbers from way in the past, we see that a ratio of ~37500:1 is a pretty conservative estimate of the clear seed cleaning ratio.

From here:

Instead, you send Mami another quick question. "By the way, Mami, how many Grief Seeds do you use, say, in one week?"

"Very well," Akiko concedes, finally.

Mami responds more promptly. "Umm," she says. "Using my powers is the majority of it, really. Maybe... one every two weeks, if I don't use my powers at all?

We see that one grief seed lasts one meguca around two weeks of passive existence. Thus, one clear seed should provide 1442.3 years of passive existence.

Even split twenty ways, that's enough to provide puella magi with a lifespan comparable to that of a normal humans. (~70 years)

On the topic of demanding payment for Seeds, think how much confident and at east Inoue seemed right now when we asked for her sister's help.

"Ah, familiar territory," Yuuna says. "What do you require?"

"Well, do you know if she can track a phone from her phone number?" you ask.

"Ah. Yes, she can do that," Yuuna says. "I take it this is partial payment for the cleansing?"
