Unnecessary right now, I think. We can do it once the Metabomb is settled, since she doesn't even have another seed, right now.

Yeah I don't think it matters. And frankly if something goes horribly wrong she'll probably react via telepathy. Mami's been lichbombed, if something frags Sayaka a timestop heal is within the realm of possibility.

Point taken. Plus, Homura's with them right now, so hopefully we don't have to worry about them being in peril anytime soon...

Counterpoint, if they do end up in peril it's likely something horrifyingly strong :6
Thus, the obvious solution is to ask Madoka to invite everybody to a sleepover. Half of everyone's already there, so it's convenient.

And this will make Mumi happy. Mumi will need happiness after Metabomb.

And with everybody in one place, we can PROTECT THEM ALL.

Excellent plan, Kaizuki.

Sleepover, Nyan~

We should just have a sleepover every day until Walpurgisnacht. Oriko and Kirika get to do it, why not us?

I'm sorry I didn't realize we wanted soneone objecting to our nightly mumihugs. And you know she would.

I don't think she would object. In fact, I have high hopes she will join us as a conspirator in the MadoHomu project after this past update.
Before Homura can respond, you take the opportunity to jab her in the ribs with your elbow. It doesn't go unnoticed, either, Hitomi catching your gaze. You shrug, smirking.

More seriously, I recall that in PMAS at least the "Girls can't love girls!" was a joke rather than a sincerely held belief

Though I am going to make one more nitpick:
We still should have told her earlier. And we're sorry for her being hurt again. But not telling would be even worse.
Should probably be "sorry for hurting her again" rather than "for her being hurt again". Passive voice isn't really appropriate for apologies.

We don't have a hat.

Hmm, that explains why we're not a Touhou.

[] Make grief hat.
It was actually intended as a reference to the Jägermonsters of Girl Genius. Yes, shocking that I wasn't going for a Touhou reference, I know.
Speaking of Jägermonsters, we could try making Familiar versions of them. They might even get a Hat for us.

Just cut the middle monster and make hat familiars.

[Q] Before starting on dinner, make hat familiars.
-[Q] Let Mami pick whichever she likes the most. That'll make her happy so everything will go alright.

...if that's what it takes to start familiar research, I'm game. Not before dinner, though: We don't need to stack the (SabrinaIsA)Witchbomb on top of the Metabomb.

[x] And, well, some of what we knew about her was private. We knew the circumstances of her wish, though not the text. We knew that she needed a friend, someone who would be there for her.

[x] Enjoy spending time with Mami. Go out of your way to make dinner as pleasant as possible.
-[x] Don't telepathy Sayaka, or check on Homura, or anything else like that. This is Mami time, and she deserves our full attention.
[x] After dinner, raise the issue. You now feel ready to discuss one of the issues you asked for time to think through earlier. Your memories, to be specific.
-[x] This is a private topic. You'd prefer to make some privacy constructs before discussing it. When making the privacy constructs, focus on preventing Incubator eavesdropping.
-[x] If at any point either of you get high on grief, cleanse.
[x] Take a deep breath, then start. You're sure she's noticed, but the things you know aren't normal. About magical girls in general and the system, and you mentioned how many languages you can speak, with Miss Benouna. You're pretty sure amnesia doesn't work like that. We can't tell her how those facts got there because we don't know. But it's more than just that.
-[x] When we woke up in the alley, we also knew some things about a small number of people. Homura, Madoka, Sayaka. Others, and other things, all of which matter and most of which deserve talking about... And about Mami.
--[x] We didn't know everything about her. We knew she was a veteran puella magi, that she liked to call attacks, that she would actively work to protect innocents. We knew she made really good cake, and that she was kind, friendly, and warm. We didn't know that she'd been in the archery club, we didn't know she could cook pretty much everything under the sun, we didn't know that she liked to play video games... and we didn't know that we would end up getting along with her so well. We didn't know her, we knew things about her.
---[x] And, well, some of what we knew about her was private. We knew the circumstances of her wish, though not the exact wording. We knew that she needed a friend... Which was why when she offered to let us live with her, we accepted.
[x] Let her react to that.
[x] If she's willing to let you keep speaking, explain why you didn't tell her earlier. At first, it was because you were still getting a grip on the situation after you woke up in an alley, and that... well, it's just so fantastical. Then there were days when there was just no time, and she was so hurt after she found out Kyubey had been lying to her that we couldn't stomach the idea of potentially making things worse. And it was easy to let it just stay untold, because in the end, when QB was out of the way and we could have made time to tell her, the real reason why you allowed hourself to put it off was because you were afraid that if you told her, she wouldn't want you to stay. And... you didn't want to leave. You wanted to stay. You want to stay.
[x] Head low, self recriminatory. You still should have told her earlier.
-[x] If it feels appropriate, inform her that we haven't stayed with her because she needs a friend, we've stayed with her because in the course of getting to really know her, we've found that she is everything we could ever want in a friend and more. And because she needs a friend, of course, that too.

[X] Concentrate on making sure dinner tonight is perfect. Perfect food, perfect shoulder bumps with Mami while cooking, perfect tea after dinner, why not.
[X] Relax alongside her until we're both done eating.
[X] Tell mami we want to talk about the stuff we mentioned earlier. Is it alright if we grief-create some extra privacy measures? (OC: same as we used w/ Kirika and Oriko) We're kinda scared of this stuff getting out.
[X] Cleanse. Griefing out in the middle of this? Not happening. Cleanse as needed for duration of vote.
[X] Take a deep breath, then start. When we woke up in the alley, besides our knowledge of the puella magi system, we knew a bunch of other stuff. Some of it was very mundane, stuff you'd learn in school. On the other hand, some things were more important, and we want to talk about pretty much everything that's that way, but in particular, we knew some things about a small number of people. Homura, Madoka, Sayaka. Others. And Mami.
[X] We didn't know everything about her. We knew she was a veteran puella magi, that she liked to call attacks, that she would actively work to protect innocents. We knew she made really good cake, and that she was kind, friendly, and warm. [X] ... which was why when she offered to let us live with her, we accepted.
[X] Wait for a response, head low.
[X] (somewhat response-dependent for format) We still should have told her earlier, and we're sorry that we didn't. At first there were real reasons for it -- we were still getting a grip on the situation after we woke up in an alley & we were scared that Kyubey would get wind of it. Then there were days when there was just no time...
[X] But at some point it changed from real reasons not to tell her to just excuses. It was easier to let it just stay untold, because in the end, when QB had left and we could have made time to tell her, the real reason why we allowed ourselves to put it off was because we were afraid that because we had kept it secret, that if we told her, she wouldn't like us anymore. She would want us to leave. And... We didn't want to leave. We wanted to stay.want to stay. We came here because she needed a friend, but in the course of getting to really know her, we've found that she is everything we could ever want in a friend and more.

[x] Cook delicious food with Mami
[x] Over diner drop the metabomb
-[x] Open with how you hope she doesn't kick you out over it.
-[x] Move on to how while you are amnesiac, you have knowledge like the languages.
-[x] Among that knowledge is how, basically, you've seen this TV show before. You knew roughly about Homura, Madoka, Sayaka, Kyuubey, Mami, the Magical Girl System, and Kyoko as soon as you woke up in that alley.
-[x] A bunch of the stuff we know from that TV show is stuff that is Homura's to tell, not yours. Other stuff is traumatizing to know.

[X] Quick telepathy: Remind Sayaka about her homework. If she asks, we can't help her with it tonight. We have something important we need to do.
[X] Concentrate on making sure dinner tonight is perfect. Perfect food, perfect shoulder bumps with Mami while cooking, perfect tea after dinner, why not.
[X] Once we're done cleaning up, before we start the baking:
-[X] Tell Mami that we have something that we want to talk to her about. Something that we've been wanting to tell her for a long time, but we've been afraid to because she's so important to us, and we want to do it now before we lose our nerve or another crisis comes along and distracts us again.
--[X] Tell her that we also want to make sure that you're speaking privately, so we're going to make an item. Prepare the "eavesdropping prevention" grief items like we used with Oriko and Kirika a while back.
[X] Cleanse as needed. Griefing out in the middle of this? Not happening.
[X] (It's a lot of text, so she'll probably interrupt at some point. Stop to check that she's okay, answer questions, give her time to process what she's hearing, or let her rage at us as needed. When answering questions, we're prepared to tell her anything that isn't a private confidence from someone else, like Homura's timeloops or Madokami.)
[X] Take a deep breath, then start. We're sure she's noticed, but the things we know aren't normal. About magical girls in general and the system, and we mentioned how many languages we can speak, with Miss Benouna. We don't really know how we know this stuff or why we don't remember our own life. We're pretty sure amnesia doesn't work like that.
-[X] When we woke up in the alley, we also knew some things about a small number of people. Magical girls and potentials and their friends. We recognized Madoka and Sayaka on sight, even though we'd never seen them before. We knew that Homura was really a good person, even though she seemed scary. And Mami...
--[X] It's not like we knew everything. We didn't know where Mami Tomoe lived, or what her phone number was. We knew she was a veteran magical girl, that she liked to call her attacks, that she was one of the few who would try to save people even if there was no reward, and that she liked to bake cakes. We didn't know that she'd been in the archery club, or that she liked Italian food, or that she liked to play video games and sing songs from Portal. It was like... having read about someone, then meeting them and getting to know them for real and find out that they're an even better person than we thought.
---[X] We didn't say anything sooner, because... well, at first, we didn't think anyone would believe us. How could they? It seems so impossible. And then we were afraid of Kyubey finding out. We knew... somehow we just knew... that he couldn't be trusted. But when we told Mami that—when she found out the truth about Soul Gems—it hurt her so badly that we were afraid to do anything that might make it worse. Then there were days where there was just no time, one crisis after another with nary an end in sight. But the truth is, deep down, it was just easier to let it just stay untold, because we were scared. Scared of hurting her again, but also scared that she wouldn't like us anymore. Maybe it was selfish of us, but we didn't want to lose her. She's the best friend we've ever had, the most important person in our whole world.
----[X] But because she's that important to us, we couldn't keep this from her any longer. It wasn't right. It's not fair to her. We don't want to be like Kyubey. We don't want to keep secrets anymore, not from her. We're sorry we didn't tell her sooner. We should have.
[X] Deal with the consequences of our actions.

I'd vote Red and be done with it if his vote got changed to match Onmur's (or someone's?) earlier suggestion that using Mami's trauma as a reason for why we didn't tell her earlier isn't the greatest idea.

[Q] Hug Mami.

We can distract her with our parentage so she's comfortably in shock for the metabomb! This will work!:V

Man, why don't we ditch this conversation, go fetch Homura and have her spot for us while we try making a Familiar?

We get to not have this potentially relationship shattering conversation and we get Homu time and familiars.

It's win/win/win.

We just have to ignore our problems a little longer... :V

You try to relax.

Dinner was good. Excellent, really. But knowing what was coming afterward... you couldn't truly enjoy it. At least Mami didn't seem to notice your unease, as your mind ran over and over and over what you wanted to say. What you needed to say.

What you were afraid to say.

"Mami?" you ask. She stirs from your side on the couch, where you've both sat down after cleaning up from dinner.

There must have been something in your voice, because now you can see the concern in her eyes.

"Yes, Sabrina?"

"I need to talk with you about something important. Is that okay?"

She nods—without hesitation, too. Maybe that's a good sign? You disentangle yourself from her, reluctantly, in order to make the grief constructs necessary for security.

"I'm going to make privacy bracelets , just in case. I don't want Kyuubey to know about this."

Another nod.

The bracelets go on shortly afterward, Mami taking hers from your hands with just half a smile, waiting for you to begin.

"Mami," you fight the urge to gulp, "remember before, when I said I had secrets about myself I still needed to tell you? That I didn't know how to explain? I'm... going to do that now, if you want to hear it."

"Sabrina..." Mami looks down for a moment, uncertain, then turns to face you again. "If you're not ready to tell me, it's okay. I d-don't—you don't have to. I trust you anyway."

The pit in your stomach grows heavier.

"No, Mami, I really should tell you. I... might not be ready, but you deserve to know the truth about me. I have to tell you."

"You don't have to tell me," Mami replies, firmer this time, though you see water in her eyes. "I-I think I already know. I... deep down, I've known for a while now, but I didn't want to believe it."

"Y-You know?" you stammer, carefully laid plans wafting away in empty shock.

"What other explanation could there be? You couldn't remember a past, but you knew so much about magic and magical girls. About Kyuubey. About s-soul gems, and hunting witches. And you still have secrets... you know more than I do; more than Homura, too."

It's your turn to nod.

"And you've..." she smiles, "always been different than other magical girls. Maybe a bit... eccentric, or unpredictable. It's been hard to understand sometimes why you make the decisions you do. But it's okay. I... don't want you any other way. The things you've been able to do because of that, and because of what you know, are amazing, Sabrina. The powers that only you have... you've done wonderful things with them, even if sometimes you make a mistake and get caught up playing with grief, or with making a barrier."

"But..." you begin to protest, before she takes your hand.

"I know, Sabrina, that you've wanted to tell me. That you will tell me, if I ask. And that's enough."

You sink back into the couch. Mami's far too kind to you. You haven't even apologized yet! You must at least—

"Mami, I'm—"

"—a witch. I know, Sabrina. I-It's okay."

You twitch, ever so slightly.
