any meritic to my idea of just ignoring Oriko, turning to Kirika and asking her to help us save her oujo?

I thought we agreed on speeches not working against Oriko? And that we shouldn't monologue?

Uh no? Boone has a stray theory we can go into next vote if we must. Oriko wants us to believe it would be easier for everyone if we accepted her death. That does need to be refuted. Also this isn't really a monologue.

[Q] "Oriko, once more you force my hand. Once more I must do something I will regret. I'm sorry, Oriko."
-[Q] Snatch Kirika away from Oriko, slam her face down on the floor and sit on her.
--[Q] "I'm using you once more in this way, Kirika. I'll make it up to you."
---[Q] Bring your Grief cloud over.
----[Q] "I hoped it wouldn't come to this... again."
-----[Q] Get... The Feather from your Grief cloud.
------[Q] "It's funny. I used to think this was a magical feather. Then I thought it was a mundane feather. I was so naive. Now I know... it's a feather."
-------[Q] Tickle Kirika with the feather. Restrain her carefully, so she doesn't shake you off and break free.
--------[Q] Very seriously stare at Oriko.
---------[Q] "It didn't have to be this way."
----------[Q] Tickle harder. Make sure Oriko hears ALL of Kirika's agonizing laughter.
-----------[Q] "I won't stop, Oriko, until you concede."
------------[Q] Continue horribly torturing Kirika under Oriko's helpess watch until she gives up.

Agreed. I think Oriko would be less than amused to hear another pep talk, as much as we want to give one. She knows how we feel about the situation, she just doesn't believe anything can be done. Or, possibly, doesn't believe anything should be done since she feels it's necessary for her to die.

thought - this fatalism is entirely anthema to our ideal of 'save them all, just this once!' and thus giving how this works - anthema to a core concept of Sabrina's.

How do you save someone that believes that they cannot be saved?

I have been rereading the thread and noticed something.

Most of the characters we have problems with have a vowel at the beginning and at the end of their name.

Case in point:
Ono (reading 'Residue processing' so I am in no mood to deal with any one who has a 'O' at the beginning and end of their name)
Akiko
and of course
Oriko

Though Aki did buck that trend.

So I propose, if we meet any more magical girls whose name begins and ends with a vowel we RUNAWAY! I don't think I can take the stress of these type of 'conversations'!

Umm...
...
We get along fine with Yuma.

Who else...

So, due to Witch Card information, my headcanon of Gretchen's barrier and familiars was shot down. It was essentially the idea that everyone would be absorbed into it and have a death-caul on their faces showing them their deepest dreams and joys, turning into Familiars and mindlessly serving as dolls in her paradise while they dream.

But it still works as Dedolere's barrier, and it's even better. The color scheme fits!

So what are Gretchen's familiars, then? Ten seconds Googling My usual sources haven't turned anything up.

sabrina should totally sing this when making familiars

Not in Japanese. It's a consonant read the same way as the English consonant 'y'. The only vowels are "aiueo".

I mean, technically there's no such thing as the letter "y" in Japanese at all. There are just three syllables romanized as "ya", "yu", and "yo".

Also, the only syllable in Japanese that doesn't end with a vowel is "n", so aside from foreign meguca almost everyone we meet is going to have a name ending in a vowel. :V
