@TheSlayers

You forget that WE ARE Sabrina. Her thought processes. Hence why she dropped 'meguca' on Homs, because thats what the questers tend to call Magical Girls, why she pulls random songs from the various PMMM soundtracks and other anime, and why she acts the way she does. She can't get rid of the thread. Plus that's worse 4th wall breaking than what happened in AsukaQuest during the dream stuff.

Sabrina's eyes narrowed in cold calculation and she cracked her knuckles. Oriko, still kneeling before her, flinched at the sudden hardness in her captor's face. Sensing the tension, Homura tightened her grip on Oriko's soul gem, fingered her pistol's trigger, and frowned darkly at the white-clad seer. With a psychotic grin splitting her face, Sabrina reached down toward Oriko. Perhaps from some leftover instinct from human life, Oriko threw her arms over her neck and clenched her eyes shut to try to protect her body, trembling as she did so.

She felt a weight vanish from her.

Her eyes cracked slowly open once again.

"Hats for the hat god!" Sabrina, eyes alight with radiant joy, held her prize aloft. "Wedding-cake-looking-headgear for the headgear throne!"

Oriko and Homura both stared at their mad companion in utter silence... which was then broken by a choked sob. Big fat tears swelled in Oriko's eyes, and her shoulders shook. "My... my hat! Give me back my hat!"

"Nope! My hat now!"

"Sabrina." Homura's voice was cold as a glacier. "Is this your better way? To think, I was beginning to trust you."

"What?" Sabrina blinked in confusion. "But... but it's just a hat?"

"The hat is Oriko's thing, Sabrina. I thought you respected a magical girl's cool thing. I thought you admired it. Why would you stoop so low?"

"My purpose is empty without my hat!" Oriko's composure broke, and she was overcome by ugly, messy weeping. "My... my... hha-ahaa-haaatt!"

Homura put her pistol away and clenched her fists. "You see what you've reduced her to? A clean death would have been kinder. I'll be sure to tell Mami what treacherous scum we've been cooperating with."

Then, too late, Sabrina realized that Homura's clenched fists were holding the string keeping her in timestop. "I can explain! Homura, it's for--"

"--the hat god!"

But the world had already snapped back into color.

"Wow, what a fucking bitch!" Kyouko tsked disapprovingly from where she was leaning against the wall, spear held loosely in front of her. "I'm glad I didn't let Yuma hang around you. Taking some girl's hat? Seriously? Talk about dick moves."

Sabrina spun to the newcomer. "Kyouko! When did you get here?"

"I brought her," Homura called out. She was standing on the roof of a nearby building, a shotgun in one hand and the breeze whipping her hair about ominously. "I thought it best to spread word on what a hat-stealing wretch has been hiding amongst us."

"I told you, IT WAS FOR THE HAT GOD!"

"Why, Big Sis?" Nagisa asked from around a corner, the broken shards of her heart and betrayed love shining sadly through her amber eyes. "Why would Big Sis Sabrina take someone's hat?"

Standing right next to her, Mami's eyes glazed over in hollow despair. "Sabrina... I need to tell you... I have a sudden urge to play classic video games."

"You scum... you bitch!" Kirika, mysteriously healed, readied her jagged claws and stood over Oriko, who also had her soul gem back along with a full heal, also equally mysteriously.

"And next time you feel the need to interere with another girl's thing," Homura raised a hand to her hair, raking her fingers through the gently-flowing rivers of ebony midnight. The wind kept the strands aloft for heart-stopping, breath-taking seconds as Homura cocked her head to the side, "Remember you'll never get to see mine again."

"Homura, please!" Sabrina screamed as Homura walked away, disappearing from sight over the roof edge and leaving the poor avatar to her fate amongst four hostile meguca. "The voices made me do it! I didn't mean it, Homura! THE HAT GOD'S VOICES MADE ME DO IT!"

Yes... she is an avatar of SV. It says so right on the first page.
But while I read this, I came to see her as a character, at least as much as any of the others in this quest.
That's why I want an internal conflict. I want her to become (more?) self-aware.

EDIT: While "Non-canon", that Hat Omake... I'm shutting up. Thanks, Silver.

Sabrina has trauma if we have trauma, or if we give her trauma. Luckily, it seems that the only thing we've given her lately is some weird obsession with hats that hopefully won't come up, but it probably will.

For consistently no-selling our interrogation attempts and managing to turn the conversation around despite being held at gunpoint without her soul gem. Homura gets a point for pressing the Kirika button better than Sabrina did. :D

See, it's things like that resulted in my vote. I really hope that you guys know what your doing and have an actual plan going for this. I've kind of noticed that people tend not to think things through with stuff. I don't need to bring up what happened when certain people voted to let Sayaka tank a punch to the face in a certain quest, do I? :p

While that does seems somewhat interesting, lets wait until we're not in a situation where a single misstep can blow up spectacularly in our faces.

Low blow, N5yn. :p

The plan works; yeah, it's been slightly derailed by Oriko's reply but the mission statement and overall objectives haven't changed. Normal's sniper idea works with some modification.

In this particular case I'm pretty sure we're fine. The differences between your write-in and Ugo's are mostly superficial, as far as I can tell. Both are basically putting the actual decision of whether to leave ourselves alone with Oriko until after the next post, which is fine by me. This isn't the bus incident. Not by a long shot.

I'm planning on a synthesis of my idea with Askari's since Homura already has Oriko's gem. But more on that later; I must sleep now.

Direct Intervention pt. 47
"And if we don't talk about it here and now, the Incubator will hear everything you have to say. Are you willing to take that chance?" you ask.

Oriko shrugs fractionally. "A fair point," she concedes.

You grind your teeth in irritation. She still isn't answering! Fine. Round three, then. "You know, I wonder why you say there's no chance you'd live to see Walpurgisnight? Honestly, we might not have found you two here, tonight. Or, you know, we could just take your Soul Gems with us. You'll live. Sort of. Or... you and Kirika could have just left. So why is there no chance?"

Oriko's nodding along with your statements. "We could," she says. "But we won't."

"Bullshit, Oriko," you snarl at her. "What, are you saying there's no free will?"

"Oh, there is," she acknowledges. "But some choices simply aren't."

Ugh.

"Are we that different?" the seer asks. "Would you not throw yourself in front of a Witch, or worse, to save someone?"

You snort. "I'd be surprised you would," you rebut. "Your actions to date..."

A shrug. "Necessary."

"For what, Oriko?" you snarl, leaning forward. "My patience is running out."

"As I said, I would be willing to tell you," Oriko says.

You rub your face in frustration. Briefly, you contemplate stealing her hat - if nothing else, to get a reaction out of her. You discard the thought, though. "How about a show of good faith? What have you and Kirika been doing after you contracted?" you frown at the seer. "You hired someone. Who and why? Where have you been going?"

She laughs. Demurely, with one hand covering her mouth, and it turns into a harsh, racking cough a moment later -that one bullet hole through her lung, you figure-, but she laughs. "I lied."

"You what," you say blankly.

"I wanted you in Kasamino," Oriko says. "So I lied. Or, rather, I asked Kirika to lie to you. Then we went on a date, and after that, bought some fertilizer."

Your hands clench into fists. You were thoroughly played, it seems.

"I have a suggestion," Oriko announces blandly, eyes sliding aside to glance at the time traveller. "You should ask Akemi Homura how the last time loop went, though you should probably be careful about it."

In the timestop, without other noise, you can hear metal creak as Homura's hand tightens on the pistol grip, now pointing directly at Oriko's Soul Gem. Violet eyes set between furrowed brows and a fierce scowl meet yours, a silent question handing in the air.

[] Let Homura fire
[] Talk her down
- [] Write-in
[] Write-in

=====

Yep. She lied. Mind you, she's actually showing some of her cards here.

[] Yeah, kinda figured that something had happened, as Homura's let a little bit slip here and there, but now's not the time or place for it.

Bit too tired to go hunting for it, maybe in the morning if someone doesn't beat me to it.

[X] ".........Homura, put the gun down. She's trying to get under your skin. She WANTS you to shoot her. Don't give her what she wants."
--[X] "Oriko, PLEASE refrain from egging my friends into killing you."
--[X] "Can we PLEASE keep this non-murdery?"

[x]"Homura, no. She's trying to get under your skin. She WANTS you to shoot her. Don't give her what she wants."
[x]Let's talk about a different loop first, okay? A loop where everyone got to meet your good friend Margot because you thought it'd be great to make Kirika your own personal killer and didn't even notice what it did to her head. Where you got yourself killed stupidly, hurt Mami and the others, and committed mass murder for what turned out to be no reason at all. Can you really say you'll do better than that when you're making exactly the same mistakes?
-[x]How do you think Kirika'll take it when you get yourself killed needlessly? We're surprised that she seems to care so little for that.
[x]...Fine. Let's talk.
-[x]Homura...can I have her Soul Gem? Plan "sniper rifle overwatch".
--[x]We need Homura to trust us again- we're done with being played with. No matter what Oriko says, we'll get her that happy ending. We'll keep her connected to us and Oriko by a grief trail. If something goes wrong, please shoot Oriko then break Kirika's gem.
[x]Answers, Oriko- starting with "Why?"
