A onetime incident we can handle, especially if we (truthfully) spin it as needing to timestop to heal Oriko when she was dying, then managing to talk her into surrendering after saving her life. Less "nice long chat" and more "got her to surrender after saving her life".

It probably can't be helped, we'll just need to work on things on the other front.

Plus [x] Check Oriko's brain-functioning in a really patronizing way to make sure she's cognizant. "How many fingers am I holding up?" "Can you find the red ball in the picture?" "Very goooood!"

also re: Plot Bunny. I gather Sabrina used her powers to turn the stars into infinite grief fusion engines and saved the world, but while the universe thrives, like...I don't know, it's not what Kyubey wanted? Why is that? Did Sabrina not go with Madoka because she needs to be around to keep the universe running?

I'll sum up the discussion that Ugolino and I had on Rolz about this issue. Essentially, what we are doing right now is pushing the Mami issue to a later date. Either way this interrogation plays out, the fact that we time stopped without Mami is going to be a major issue in our future interactions, but there are too many issues that we can't discuss in the presence of Mami, and the potential for a Mami freakout, or for Oriko to trigger a Mami freakout, is just too high to risk.

The plan right now is to downplay the "interrogation" aspect of our Timestop and basically go "We healed her and she surrendered, so now we are keeping her under close watch." It won't completely prevent Mami from getting suspicious, but it will (hopefully) take some time before Mami manages to piece together what's going on. During the period between now and when she figures it out, we hope to work on her loneliness issue enough to prevent a complete freak out. It's not a perfect plan, and it has several points of failure, but it is better than having to dance around her during the negotiations and there is less of a chance that Oriko escapes this way.

However the Oriko situation concludes, when we conclude the interrogation and exit the time bubble, we are going to be heading directly into another tricky situation with Mami. We still don't have an adequate explanation for why we didn't bring Mami in to help with the healing, or at least one that doesn't rely on Meta knowledge, so we'll need one before the interrogation is done.

Alternatively, if Mami doesn't believe us and presses and things start to go badly, admit that we had to threaten Oriko into stopping her actions. Which we most likely will have to do regardless, so it is at least a half truth.

Regardless of how we slice it, we are essentially setting up a time bomb to be set off at a later date with this course of action. Our hope is that we can buy enough time before the bomb goes off and remove as much gunpowder as we can so that went the bomb does go off, it doesn't do nearly as much damage as it would if it went off now.

Unless any of you guys have any better plans.

[X] Restrain her using Grief manacles
[x] Do a proper repair
- [x] Welcome back to the land of the living. You tell us what we want to know, you might even get to stay here. Now then, just why was all this necessary? As from our point of view, everything you've done just seems like the actions of a lunatic, someone who would lose no sleep after you nearly killed Sayaka's family and everyone in the entire building. So please, tell us what makes your actions different, what makes them justified.

I can't believe how few plans are not restraining her. That will turn out badly.

...anyone notice that you posted twice in a row instead of just editing your previous post?

I'm fairly certain that the state of Oriko's arms and legs is fairly unimportant considering we're in time stop and we have her soul gem.

On the mamibombs, would it be feasible to break it to her in a controlled environment so she doesn't take rash actions under the shock?

On a scale of 1 to Tetris, How bad is it if Mami finds out about the Lich thing, and only the Lich thing?

Because ultimately, the interrogation wasn't the only thing we were trying to keep from her by going into timestop.

....anyone notice the tags above the "users who are viewing" thing?

Yeah, that's a thing.

You know, that weakening heartbeat of magic might be her mind dying. Which repairing things properly will be too slow to save. So...

[X] Brute-force it

An 8? She still needs a good write-in warning ahead of time but she is a bit better now emotionally than canon. Still highly dependent on that write-in to see things through.

...oh shit. Vote changed.
[x] Brute-force it

Lets have Sabrina try to brute force the brain/magic flames while Homura brute force the healing.

Guys, we don't want to brute force it yet. If it gets worse, then yeah, we'd brute force, but we likely have time to get her to snap out of it. Firn made it pretty binary, meaning we're likely to get what we want by not rushing it.

Also, we will porobably end up with a vegetable if we brute force it
Which does defeat the entire purpose of asking her questions.

Re: Lich, we're probably spilling the beans on that one to Mami on our terms very, very soon. ie: Soul gems are vital organs for magical girls, and we can see them acting like a heart for us and other megucas with the way magic works with their bodies. We weren't sure how to tell her about it.

Obviously, we need to perform SCIENCE! until we manage to use our All The Grief manipulation to make our own (non) witch barrier, with familiars and everything. Then, we take Mami there and we explain everything, in the most controlled enviroment ever.

That is the closest thing to the opposite of a good idea that I have seen in quite some time.

I mean, we should definitely do all that science. Just not in front of Mami.

Doing a full repair by definition means fixing her limbs. The whole reason why there's a choice between brute forcing and full repair is that one magically brings her to conciousness in a body that is by all any reasonable measure dead, while the other brings her back to life in a mostly functional body but has less risk of damaging her mind.

Actually, I think the proper repair/brute-forcing only applies to her brain.

WHY ARE WE TRYING TO BRUTE-FORCE HER BRAIN? We're trying to interrogate her, not make her a vegetable!

Considering one arm is broken and the other is simply not there, and the rest of Oriko is riddled with holes and broken bones, restraining her is not that big a concern. All we have to do is let go of her and she get's frozen in the timestop.
We healed her to the point that she doesn't look dead and blood loss is her biggest lingering issue. I think it's quite safe to say that her arms are fully attached now.
