Yeah... Witching out isn't so much a "only in dire circumstances" kind of thing as it is "never under any circumstances" sort of thing. We would be completely insane and destructive, but without any direction I fail to see how we could positively influence anything by witching out. I seriously doubt we'd be able to stay sane.

Ok, first thing's first - shout out to @Crasian01, you took the words right out of my mouth: the whole 'VAST' plus the specific choice of "Put her in a gilded cage, where she'll be safe." == all signs pointing to a Homucifer-that-has-yet-to-be-born.
Secondly - it appears that poking grief core of a normal grief seed or a familiar induces the grief-spiral. I'd still like to try poking the core of a completely purified seed to see whether that same reaction takes place when the core is NOT surrounded by grief - but we'd probably want Homura there as anti-spiral spotter just in case.
Anyway - Vote - I'm gonna go with [x]Cannongerbil
because Kinematics' seems like it's trying too hard (what with the 'don't try this at home, kids' and 'make a pirate hat')
Though I'd be fine with an interpretation of "I'm fine, just a little feedback" that has Sabrina half-bitching/half-explaining: "Stupid goddamn frickin'-hell - that HURT! I tried to reach in and take control of it, but it seems that Mummy witch noticed what I was doing to her baby and the bitch shanked me in my goddamn SOUL."
^I'd like a rant like that because being angry would be (1) reasonable after that sort of pain and (2) somewhat reassuring to the others IMO (I'd personally be a lot less worried for someone else if (after hurting themselves) they got angry and ranted, as opposed to trying to brush it off with an "I'm fine, just a scratch").

This is probably quibbling, but maybe Cannongerbil's vote should have us accepting Homura's cleanse and reassuring everybody before we examine the familiar again? Y'know, just so the first thing Mami and Homura see isn't us going straight back to staring as if hypnotized at the thing that just about asploded our soul.

That is a good point. Maybe rearrange that, @Cannongerbil ? It'd be a little odd to grief spiral, wake up, and then immediately go and examine the thing that reduced us to a screaming mess on the floor a few seconds ago. It'll make Mami and Homura worry, to say the least.
