As a reminder, this is the remainder of the original SCIENCE vote:

[]Carefully attempt to form a construct with a magical effect that you know exists, but that you don't understand. A small barrier. A familiar. Finally, try a construct with a magical effect that you both don't know exists and don't understand, like a wand of healing.
[]Examine a soul gem, a normal grief seed, and a broken grief seed in detail with all senses. Catalog the parts; grief, magic, whatever else you can figure out, any unknowns. What are the differences and similarities?
[]Taking any necessary precautions, carefully observe the generation of grief in a soul gem. Then observe the process by which grief is removed from a soul gem and a grief seed, both by using a grief seed normally and through your powers.
[]Compare a magical construct like your hammer to an identical grief construct. What are the differences in attributes, and in how each can be created, manipulated, or dismissed?
[]Very slowly and carefully, allow grief outside your control to coalesce. Do it inside your range if possible by releasing grief from control, otherwise be prepared to move closer immediately if necessary.

Do we want to try to get some of that out of the way this afternoon, or are people more interested in going other directions now? Personally, I'd like to finish up the SCIENCE stuff.

Frankly, I would like to visit Kyouko soon. We know that she is going to run low on grief seeds in the near future, and we've done more than enough science for the day. If we have a viable plan for meeting up with Kyouko I'd like to meet up with her soon, before she starts getting desperate.

We could update Masami and Kyouko, maybe check in on Oriko and do other social stuff.
Depending on how long that takes and what exactly we want to do we can still do a quick round of science later on.

@Kinematics: Lovely ideas, though I'd try to think if there is anything else so long that we have timestop.

Well, anything else other than
[ ] Inform Homura of the loops' side effect.

Which seems likely to just cause anguish before her ...history class?

Well, I don't have any other ideas with respect to our current Homura conversation, except maybe let her know we're thinking of a general gathering this afternoon (tea party, zoo, whatever was decided on).

What I posted just above is just the remainder of SWB's SCIENCE vote.

If I were to trim the SCIENCE down, I'd want at least these two items:

[]Examine a soul gem, a normal grief seed, and a broken grief seed in detail with all senses. Catalog the parts; grief, magic, whatever else you can figure out, any unknowns. What are the differences and similarities?
[]Compare a magical construct like your hammer to an identical grief construct. What are the differences in attributes, and in how each can be created, manipulated, or dismissed?

Which should be a relatively short session. (half hour?) After that, I'd be fine checking in on Kyouko (it's been 5 days since our lunch with her), as well as calls to Masami and any of the other groups.

[x] Give Homura another hug before parting.
[x] A last couple bits of SCIENCE testing this afternoon, while contacting people.
-[x] SCIENCE

--[x] Masami/Hiroko - Polite check in. Inform them that things seem to have settled down, and of the suggested handling of grief seeds.
--[x] Ishinomaki - Polite check in. Summarize situation, and make note of the grief seed cleansing plan.
---[x] Also: Ask when the meeting with Sendai was originally arranged, and if it was done through Kyuubey.
[x] Check in on Oriko (telepathy). We were going to come visit. Did she need us to bring anything?
[x] When visiting:
-[x] Standard grief cleanses.
-[x] Thank her for her help yesterday. Mention Kirika's awesomeness.
-[x] Apologize for threatening to grief Kirika's soul gem.
-[x] Ask for anything noteworthy in her visions.
-[x] We would like to try an experimental healing trick, if she'll help us make sure it's safe.
--[x] Try to create a magic healing item. Apply healing to remaining Oriko injuries.
--[x] If it doesn't work, provide normal healing for any remaining injuries she has that we can manage.

The Kyouko bit will need to be its own update, I think, so just ending this with the arrangement to meet up.

Given our parallel tasking abilities, we should be able to do the grief/magic examination in parallel with contacting people, and each of the contacts should be relatively short conversations.

Homura nods, looking thoughtful. A moment later, she speaks again. "He may develop a crush on you."

You stare at her.

She stares back.

The dead, muffled silence of the timestop stretches out.

"He gave up after a while," she offers.

You continue staring.

She nods.

Your head tilts over to the side.

Homura's face is utterly neutral, not a hint of her thoughts showing on her face.
That's it. It's over. I am slain.
Here lies PhantomFractions: He died laughing.

Just... WOW. That is one hell of a noodle incident! I almost don't want to hear how that loop went, cause I don't think anything can top my mental image of how that must've gone down.

Highlights include:
  • Sayaka going absolutely ballistic while ranting that "I should've known you were out to steal him - it always happens in anime! The transfer student is always bad news!" (the phrase "you're a demon" may or may not have come up)
  • Hitomi being unusually frosty to Homu and teaming up with Sayaka to badmouth her during lunch.
  • Kyousuke being overly obsessed and trying to hunt Homu down to thank her/ask her out (she somehow always manages to escape) culminating in him serenading her with violin in hand in front of everyone.
  • Madoka being unusually depressed that loop (Junko susses out what the problem is and thinks it is both the most adorable and the most hilarious thing ever).
And in the middle of it all: outwardly stoic and composed ice-queen Homura, the talk of the school. Inwardly...
"There is no numerical value for how done I am with this situation."
*manages to catch breath and calm down*
Anyway, as always, Love the Homu-Sabrina interaction: she so desperately needs to be wrapped up in a big blanket, fed until she's healthy and told repeatedly that "it's going to be OK, you're not alone, etc."

Things to discuss in this vote: I'd like to bring up Kyouko and Masami and see if Homu's seen them make up before without requiring immanent death. Possible moves of the Kyouko-Yuma pair would also be nice (do they last long? Move? Does Kyouko mellow a bit due to Yuma or become twitchy-overprotective? Plan of contact with Kyouko?)

I'd also like to ask for any info Homu has on how Mami survived a witchbomb without falling to pieces on the spot (It happened in Oriko Magica, maybe it happened some other time too)? Knowing how any previous (not-immediately-murder/suicide) witchbomb (if any) went down would be very handy if the worst should happen. I'd like this knowledge/some other emergency plan of action before we actually bring Mami in on enchanting the empty seeds (it sorta seems like a situation with higher than average risk of accidental witchbomb - say, like, if a seed starts screaming or something).

(I also note that we haven't brought up the idea of healing Hitomi with anyone recently?)

Aside from that I think that we've got the go ahead to drop lichbomb today. Shall we invite everyone to Mami's and do it this afternoon?

(I'd also like to let Mami know that we need to feed some grief to Kyubey soon or we'll end up swimming in it - maybe organize for him to meet us on the roof alone (assuming Mami doesn't want to see him) after everyone has gone home, feed him, ask whether witchified grief is better/worse than normal marbles/seeds, then tell him to leave? But that can be done later.)

The first time she was witchbombed she didnt imediately go kill em all, that was only after their attempt to reverse sayaka failed. SO she may be ok (or not, but surviving) as long as she has a hope to cling to.
If we take the PSP game she can survive it if she has friends etc. If she hasnt enough but dosent imeediately flip out, it however puts her at danger of quiet suicide a few days later.

Good point. I'm really just fishing for information like 'she tends to keep it together a bit better if you emphasise the people she's saved' or 'whatever you do, don't bring up how many she recruited/how many seeds she's used.' If we know what the biggest land mines are then we can avoid or try to deal with beforehand in order to keep Mami alive long enough for the initial horror to subside a bit and our reassurances and counter arguments to have an effect.

Shouldn't we also check in with Oriko?
Even if Homura shot down our attempt at getting her released, we could at least drop by for a cup of microwaved tea and refresh the grief seed we left her with. We made her use her power quite a bit after all.

If she knew that much about Mami's psyche, she wouldn't be in this kind of situation. All other times when Mami learnt about the witchbomb, she has basically written her off, to the point where Yuma defusing it, however temporarily, was a major surprise to her.

About the vote:
--[x] Ishinomaki - Polite check in. Summarize situation, and make note of the grief seed cleansing plan.
--[x] Rin/Sakura - Polite/concerned check in. Ask Sakura when the Ishinomaki meeting was originally arranged.
*sigh*

As I said before. I'd like to pretend Sendai doesn't exist if only for just one day. Place is a ****ing headache.
I, personally, agree with this statement. I really don't want to deal with them today if I can help it, unless they ping us of their own accord for whatever reason.

Also:
[x] Let Homura know you're thinking of trying to set up some informal gathering of all the friends this afternoon to help relax.
Would you mind clarifying this bit? I don't recall any such plans being discussed, unless you are talking about the Kyouko tea party plan, in which case now is nowhere close to the time.

Look, it's a oneliner, there to make things easier down the road. We just chat with them and then forget about them, and better to have it than not to have it.

We had a "tea party for all of Mami's friends" idea at the end of the last arc. No Kyouko involved.

I do want to check in on Oriko anyway. Even apologize like originally planned. At the very least, see if there's anything she needs us to bring (you know, because she can't leave), a cleanse, and a genuine thank you for everything yesterday.
