Again, why couldn't cinnamon be present? Our southern territories are nearly (or are) tropical. Our core territories are approximately the same latitude as Sicily and Crete, which are just about subtropical themselves, so....

Green shore is the crimea province yes?
If so, it's far too temperate for spice.

If it's the trebizond province, it a bit more likely, but still, you'd think such innovation would occur in the climate optima of the south/east.

The answer to that is almost certainly a resounding NO.

Additonally I think we are going to be seeing the Parthian Shot tactic.
Man, i hope not... given how much later the actual parthians were (per wikipedia at least), and how new the horse archers are, hopefully they can't manage that just yet...

...so that is where parting shot mutated from.

TMYK

At the same time, it depends on how much our Mercenaries can hold them. If we can keep them from reaching the Txolla, our armies have a chance in the mountainous regions of Thunder Horse.
Actually, a quick google suggests that the two terms arose separately o_O

So, what kind of counter are we looking at? Do we just have to throw bodies at the problem and hope the Forhuch drown in oceans of blood, or is there some other way to win this?
Well, we could hope that they get fucked by the remnants of the Horseman's Plague, or that they suddenly fall into civil war or something, but we don't really have anything in the Lowlands that can defend against Mass Cavalry besides just throwing bodies at it.

a) it's a variant of cinammon as per AN
b) not really? Cinammon was able to be grown in egypt which is hardly tropical. Sure, it was tended to but it could still grow.
c) does it even matter if it's cinnamon? Anything that tastes and smells nice enough to be important is still a good trade good. So who cares? Just call it Ingredient X.

We can attack their settlements in order to force them to engage. They need food and arrows. We can cut them off.

This is uh... sorta the China problem.

They out horse us, and will continue to do so unless we turn ourselves inside out with effort after this war to catch up.

Bodies are kinda all we have. The next war though the Dragon Banner should be entirely cav and that is a big big help since their armor is great and they would be Elite Light Cav.

If we can get to Xohyr we can hold them and foray out to fight over Tsundere Horse. There is not a whole lot too do though. I'll need to think about it.

Thankfully we are not in the middle of the Plague this time. That means that are people are actually within our fortified cities and will not die off from the inside.

That was part of the reason our vassals got mauled the first time.

While not having a Admin hero means that the levy may take time, we would not lose as many on the trip as before either.

You sure? Because my google-fu is coming up differently.

Hmm...

No waterworks projects espeically the one we are currently working on involve turning a large land area like the lowlands into a marsh like environment.

The lowlands already have extensive marshes. The proposed project was to move the water creating them to the steppes and create rivers and marshes there.

We are about the assemble the largest fighting force that this part of the world has ever seen.

To stomp some upstart almost nomand. It doesn't seem right.

One king of an upitty city-state and his 300 bodyguards- how hard could it be?

We can take and hold anywhere in this fight. We have enough man power to build walls, watch towers and dig holes in the middle of the plains. We need to do that and cut the enemy off from any sort of resupply.

Armament passive policy just keeps on looking better and better.

Ah okay.

Hey @Academia Nut since you are here and may have missed this before. How many dudes/dudettes are we throwing around with +49ish martial from Mass Levy?

It's possible you might be able to briefly get a million men under arms if you keep the levy going for a full turn and kick a few times. More likely in the 100k-200k range.

any of those in use by Ymar? Agarwood and mastic where worth thier weight in gold for much of history.

Both are possible. It was obtained from semi-wild forests and kept in temple gardens for a time before they figured out a domesticated cultivar and then started mass growing it.

Not!Kavarna province.

Their super far away settlements?
The ones in the former Mountain Horse territory?

That we probably don't have the supply lines needed to lug our huge Levy armies to?
They are going to be the ones to dictate every engagement, and they have the mobility advantage.
Even if we could somehow lug all of our levies out to take their settlements, they would either be harassing us all the way on their horses, or we would have beaten up their horses, at which point they could really do nothing to us.

Wait, Egypt? I know it's been used extensively by every civilisation, but growth spreading past south Asia /east Asia seems odd.
Still, Egypt has plenty of regions with compatible climes, especially in the south.

Anyhow, I highly doubt it's gonna be a listed trade good, neither pearls, olive oil, wool or honey are listed goods, and those made wealth to build an empire.

Wait, aren't Ymar using incense already? Shouldn't they have figured out mastic and agar trees millenia ago? Or are they not growing it in any quantities of note due to lack of temple and thus demand. (foreign demand should be mad however)

Hell, please don't tell me they haven't even discovered olive oil yet. (we had wine, and the olive press far predates the wine!)
No really, how come oil aient a good.?

What the...don't we have a fuckton of crossbows?

Wasn't the point of the levy reforms some turns ago to have lots and lots of crossbows? What is the point of the crossbows if that's not gonna affect the power of the nomad armies?
The 8-11 refers to the vanguard, which is composed of our mercenary companies and our sacred orders.

They are totally fucked. The levies are slightly less so.

Still, we should probably aim for two kicks rather than one. It sounds like additional kicks will allow us to mobilize more of our population, which should help reduce the mobility advantage that the nomads have.

Alright, draft 1 is almost done, if anyone could check it over in a few, it would be appreciated. Like this post and I'll PM you.

yes; probably, you can make incense out of herbs, tho.; probably; we have.

Maybe we can scout out and hold every watering hole in the area?

We could also poison them, but that is out of character.
