For people wanting a hero genius.
The cultural choice is the best of the lot.
Alot of you have been harping about the need to speed up or forcibly assimilate our vassals.
Well the natural way of creating unity in empire was by cultural dominance.
The idea is if the culture of the core is so grand and rich, then the people of empire will be naturally drawn to it, and will incorporate it into thier own culture by thier own will and initiative.

And cultural strength is not just about maintaining rule over far flung territory. It is also about order in the core; as its culture gets more developed, it's ethos starts seeping into the various segments of society until it becomes ingrained. This helps with both integration of refuges and provencials as well as dissent and crime; for propriety makes people self police and forces them to act in specific predictable ways. The Last aspect of this is that development and enforcement of values start separating from the church (which whilst a tragedy, should please some in the thread)

The last part of cultural dominance is its effect on deplomacy and international influence: a cultural juggernaut makes the world desire either its hand in friendship or to be subject to it. Giving our diplomacy substantial weight. And culture tends to organically seep out of the Empire into neighbouring and even distant lands.

And naturally, the development of the arts and of social ritual and ceremony is incalculably valuable in and of itself aswell.
Thus the culture hero is not only Somthing new and interesting, but likely to be as valuable as the discovery of iron.

Yeah, probably not a good idea to go negative in culture. Changed mine to PttS. Question is, to Kick or not to Kick? If we did, there's a chance it'll finish before our King dies, and that could have narrative bonuses for his work on math.

Kicking is reasonable since we're very likely to complete the Urban quest for +1 stability soon.

At some point he had come to the conclusion that Crow was with the People in a most peculiar way. The heroes of the People for the past few generations had been seeing patterns, had been seeing that which was impossible to see with the eyes but that were there nonetheless. And now the king was seeing them too. He was seeing the patterns in all things, seeing how everything fit together. Some clever lad had discovered generations ago that if you made a bow of bricks it was stronger than if you laid a flat section between two pillars, and Hertythyn thought he might be seeing how to describe that, how to take the intuitive feel of a skilled mason and turn it into something a priest or clerk could describe like the motions of stars or the inflow and outflow of grain from a depot. He could see how to take shapes and manipulate them, transform them, and produce values that could be counted and thus described with numbers.

Update!

Holy Shit we got Math!

This is a good point, I'll approval-vote for a cultural genius. I'm curious as to what will come from it.

@Academia Nut does the extra per turn diplomacy mean that Tinriver is matured now? Also, minor thing but culture per-turn should be +2 now, with 5 cities, i think. (though i guess you might just be waiting to update that until we decide on the free cities, since those add +1 each)

Golden Age! Sweet, sweet innovations, too! Reminder that we need Stability above 0 and at least one stat at max to keep the GA.

Let's solidify friendly relationships.

Corruption in Redshore might get worse and Sacred Forest is theologically too important. Stallionpen is an unknown to me, though the presence of the Dragon Graveyard makes me not want to risk it. Redhills seems neutral enough and fit to be a test-bed for a new system.
Note how our Admin hero thinks the burden of the current system might 'give the next king a heart attack'. Let's give this a try?

[X] [Diplo] Talk with the Trelli (Main Trade Mission - Trelli)
Synergy with diplo genius meaning a better chance of access to Saffron Isles and it might also open up avenues to stopping chattel slavery without bloodshed.

[X] [React] Main Build Glassworks
Finish expiring quest. Puts tech off red though as it uses Tech.

Summary: Go full Diplomancer, try out one Free City, convert the Trelli and finish the quest with the lowest timer.
Costs: 18 Culture (Genius), 2 Wealth (Trade Mission), 3 Econ (1 from Trade Mission, 2 from Glassworks), 2 Tech (Glassworks)
Returns: 2 Wealth, 4 Culture, 1 Diplo, 1-3 Diplo at end of turn, 0-2 Wealth at end of turn.

Edit: Overflows are a headache to calculate. Just...treat this as a static thing.

I like to imagine that the Diplo genius is Tormulyna (that is the dragon's egg, right?) As his mother was really...not a people's person.

Something i would like to do is build another Storehouse Annex for our Palace. I am worried about our drastically lowered temp econ damage reduction ever since we switched to Guild Mercantile. A bigger central Storehouse should increase that reduction a little, and since Palace Annexes at level 2 are equal to a dedicated project at level 1 we might also gain the ability to build storehouses slash granaries outside of the kings palace. Maybe as part of a governors palace?

Every province should have a granary. We've all but eradicated famine in our civ, letting it back in because the guilds want to make mad dosh is utterly unacceptable. Make like Joseph and build granaries in the good times, so we have plenty to eat in the bad times.

You are a beautiful human being comrade.

We haven't had an Admin genius. I wanna see this shit.

I'd rather the first free city be a non-religious city, simply because we don't really know the full impact of having a free city. (New things tend to have impacts our characters can't predict...)

Talking with Trelli has a CHANCE of us getting access to the Mediterranean. Frankly, we just came off a war with Khem where we bloodied their nose, and then blew up TH with a meteor. Our Prestige is through the fucking roof.

If there ever was a time we could get major concessions, it's now.

And let's get the Place to the stars finished. So we can build a Dam. Please.

I don't know if we can afford to do that in time, honestly. It might be possible to force them open with a trade mission under a diplomatic hero or genius within the alloted time, though...

I question the Strategic merit of having our Naval access to the wider word being restricted by a possibly hostile foreign power.

It would placate our traders and allow us to delay the increase to the Trelli's trade power while giving us time to actually complete the Gulvalley canal. It would likely not be a permanent state of affairs.
