Because we interact most with them and the Eastern Hills are hard to cross and they don't know most of the pathways there or what is on the other side.

They know we are rich and easy to get to, better than a tough walk to the unknown, at least at first, now it's an ancestors grudge.

They did have a hero, he was the son of the first Martial Hero who ravaged our territory then conquered the Metal Workers in a turn, also they don't have spoked chariots yet I believe

I specifically meant in the context of this update. :p Here it is indicated we are too spiky for their tastes.

No, he left after his crit success and started a new tribe in the north. Either way, there was no hero attacking us when they got bronze, just their remnants. Possibly raiding easier targets. That's what this tribe is, his decedents. I'm pretty sure it was dad who took over the metal workers.

I'm inclined to believe that any waagh with two heros is very dangerous. Still, we're more dangerous. ;) I doubt they'll hit our main provinces this time as it took double crit plus double hero. Still, we aren't as fully deployed as we were.

Given the emphasis that our king is placing on the need to crush the west quickly if he's going there, actually, it sounds like speed might be a better focus than size for the new boats. Getting there and back more quickly means there's less of a chance for the hero we're not fighting to take advantage of the weakened defenses.

Academia Nut has said that Size+Portability would be best for the war effort.

Clarification. It doesn't leave it undefended, but weakened. Now in fairness, the last time we weaken a part of our line, Nomadic Hero Duo 1 managed to bypass the ST and caused the first famine in recorded Ymaryn history. However, we do have several things stacking our deck:

1. We got Rulhuthyn, our second Heroic Martial in charge after Gwygoytha.
2. The ST aren't as stretched anymore. They used to cover the aegis from West to East but now:

...they only had to deal with center and East.
3. We still hold the literal edge in weaponry. The only thing that they are evidenced to have in regards to parity to us is their spoked wheels.
4. Unlike NHD1, we're not the main targets. This is important. We had the full force of two Heroic Martial crashing down on us then while this time, they are dividing themselves between the TSpeakers and MWorkers.

Now again, all my vote reasoning is the fact that should it win, it will heavily deny the Nomads from better bronze weaponry. The fact that we can wipe half the Nomads force by the admission of our own Heroic Martial character is just a sweet cheery atop of it all.

I'm considering if we should switch to it, yes. There's the obvious issue that we ultimately want big boats for exploring the sea...but I think at least Western Wall has yet to grab a Build Docks option and they likely will soon-ish, so we can grab it then.

@Academia Nut in the opinion of our present king is it better to have faster ships or the portability+size design for relieving the Metal Workers?

Well my commentary on strategy:

Hold the Center we all seem to have collectively ruled as dumb, for the most part. From the arguments given, of which there are few surprisingly, I tend to agree so I'll just put this aside for the moment.


Go west
Pro: We crush the Western Horde attacking the MW with high likely hood, preventing them gaining a metal supply. Or we drive them off with losses, preventing them gaining a metal supply. We are likely only doing 1 v 1 with Heroes. Portable + size helps here more than pure size by Word of AN.
Con: We have to get in and get out quickly. Our east is weakened, and we have no NE March, and the Eastern Nomads got mulched. This is what I would rate as an easily exploited vulnerability.
Neutral: The other half of the horde will be poking the TS and so on. This will distract the Xoh to some degree. More speed focused designs may help more.

Attempt to divert south east
Pro: Thoroughly distracts the Lowlands clusterfuck. Gives breathing room to the HK to deal with the Hath for us. Possibly causes severe damage to the Xoh Empire as they are the biggest targets with the HK shielded by ourselves.
Con: Our Hero says this is risky and possibly outside of his experience. 2 v 1 against our Hero? Or maybe just the 1 v 1 of the East Horde Hero vs ours? Not sure, need clarification. What happens to the West horde punting the MW? If it fails we lose a lot of Martial and have angry Nomads headed our way, probably also diminished themselves, though possibly not.

Nah McLuvin, the question was specifically in regards to portability + size vs pure size. Speed did not factor in at all, so it could well be that speed stuff is far out in first and then you have portability + size in second and then pure size in third.

Ahh the vagueness of the English language.
