Err...I mean Ciaran tends to hoard things. Like a dragon.
I'm using this btw. But first...
The Third Link
Tyro Torwin stepped foot an Arcblade Fleet ship for the first time in years, and even though every ship he had grown up with had been destroyed and this one was completely new to him, it still felt like home. Perhaps it was the bear hug Zekk gave him the instant he stepped onto the hanger floor. "Tyro you old dog, it's good to have you back!"
Tyro returned the embrace, if somewhat less passionately. "It's good to be back, if just for a while." The two separated and Tyro looked around the ship appreciatively. "You've done a good job rebuilding the fleet. Even has the same feel."
"It wouldn't have been possible without you, y'know. I've never really had your talent for solo raids; would have been wiped out on my first venture." Despite the heavy topic, the smile never faded from Zekk's face. "But that cash you sent back was enough to bribe a few Silverlinks into deserting. That push gave us the momentum we needed to get things back up and running."
"I assume you replaced those Silverlinks as soon as possible?" asked Tyro, raising an eyebrow in amusement.
"Of course, you can never trust a Silverlink." The two old pirates laughed at their little joke. "So what brings you back out here? I was under the impression you'd retired, but you look in as good a shape as ever. If you're looking to get back into the fleet, I'd be more than happy to have someone half as good as the Tyro Torwin I remember."
"As much as I'd love to go on raids again, I'm a little too old for that. I actually came to ask a favor." said Tyro, trying to get the business out of the way as quickly as possible. He felt scummy asking the Arcblade Fleet to fight his battles for him. The pirates of the Arcblade Fleet were fiercely independent, and that had never really left Tyro.
"Ask away." said Zekk, shrugging confidently as if she were sure the favor would be some easy task she'd agree to in a heartbeat.
"My employer has made an enemy of a powerful Sith Lord, and is attempting to plot his downfall. It's dangerous, and we're all very likely to simply die. She's willing to pay for the fleet's assistance in whatever plan she puts together." explained Tyro. As nice as it was to be in contact with the fleet again, part of him wanted the past to stay in past though. "I told her it would be a suicide mission you'd never agree to, but she insisted."
Zekk seemed to think about it for a half second before responding. "Sounds good to me. When are we raiding his Sith lair or whatever he's holed up in?"
Tyro started at her casual agreement for a plan he could have sworn he made as unappealing as possible. "Why are you agreeing to this so easily? Failure is extraordinarily likely, and you might lose the fleet again."
"Again?" asked Zekk, smile fading for the first time. "The Adacap
is the fleet Tyro. The fleet was never lost. But it would have been if you hadn't kept supporting it. We both know the Jedi hiring you was a pipe dream, and no one else looking for the services of a Force User would pay that much for a pirate. We owe this employer of yours a hell of a lot. And if she's paying? Icing on the cake."
"I don't suppose I'd be able to change your mind on the matter?" asked Tyro with resignation in his voice.
"Have you ever been able to before?" asked Zekk. It was a rhetorical question and they both knew it. "C'mon, I want you to take a look at the rookies while you're here. You were the best with Blazing Chains, and they could stand to learn a thing or two from you."
"You were a phenomenal Adacap, but you were always terrible with the Force, and even worse as a teacher." teased Tyro as he followed Zekk to see what had become of the Arcblade Fleet since his departure.
AN: Expect an omake about Ciaran's lackluster money handling skills in the middle of this chain I'm forging. Because that is too good for me to ignore.
