i love Knights of the Old Republic as much as the next star wars fan but WHY ARE WE INVESTING SO MUCH INTO TARIS?????? we are practically telling people that don't like us to come attack it, i know we set up defenses because of that and all but come on, we should be spreading out our investments more

So who is going to attack us?

The Separatists? Dooku is secretly an ally and would intentionally botch an attack

The Republic? Palpatine would be blowing up his own plans

That just leaves random unaffiliated groups... and I wish them good luck fighting the third most powerful galactic power with the best admiral in the setting commanding its navy

... could we set up Taris as a trap? I mean, it's already a honeypot, isn't it?

Because due to it's population and location, it is the most viable alternative to Corrusant in the galaxy for investments, and considering that Corrusant is the center of Palpatine's power ... well. Combine that with how fast we get returns on our investments there, and it is only logical that we would focus so much on Taris.

Because thanks to various boosts applied we get double the base income on planet which gives us the best ROI most turns.

As others have stated: Taris has insanely high ROI. So much that on average, all of our investments on the planet pay for themselves in less than two turns. That means that, as long as Palpatine doesn't build a Death Star and blow it up literally next turn, we'll make a net profit on the planet (which means more money we can spend on every other planet with a base). Not to mention it's a political non-starter for either faction to attack it -- Taris is the de facto capital of the CNS, so attacking it would result in the CNS entering to war against whichever group was responsible for the attack. Plus we've fortified the crap out of the planet anyway, so a successful attack is highly unlikely.

As weird as it is to put so many eggs in one basket, it really does make sense.

having said all that i wouldn`t mind expanding our bases.
i`m all for widening the bases count and having lots of options.

so on the free ship build thing we going with the archaeology ship
then maybe have him build what? transports / mobile hospitals not really seeing the pocket cruiser or the vtol attack craft things right now?

Roster of Abysswalkers
Roster of Abysswalkers
Kygeetu san Torgh
-Species: Kaleesh
-Gender: Female
-Created By: @Panory
-First Appearance: The First Link
-Closely Affiliated With: Lady Ciaran
-Recommended Roles: Frontline Attacker/Reconnaissance In Force
-Bio: The first Abysswalker and unquestionably Ciaran's most fanatical follower, Kygeetu is a fearsome fighter much like the rest of her kind when she is fighting on the field in the name of her Lady. However if she is within eye contact of her she will inevitably devolve into a stuttering nervous mess despite herself. She has served with distinction on a number of important missions such as the second assault on the Foundry and the Battle of Mandalore.

Dani Plenar
-Species: Zeltron
-Gender: Female
-Created By: @Killerflood
-First Appearance: Sabacc Night On The Oracle
-Closely Affiliated With: N/A
-Recommended Roles: Infiltrator/Saboteur
-Bio: A sometime rival to Kygeetu, Dani specializes in asymmetrical warfare and infiltration as best demonstrated by her handling of a tense situation at a casino on Zeltros. She is brash, passionate, outspoken, and has a peculiar love for musical numbers, however her passionate nature has caused her to have noticeable issues with straying too close to the Dark Side of the Force. While she has remained stable due to a mixture of intense training and friendships keeping her in check she can find herself drifting towards it in stressful situations.

Riphath Althean
-Species: Human
-Gender: Male
-Created By: @Barondoctor
-First Appearance: Nothing Left To Lose
-Closely Affiliated With: Qymaen, Thrawn
-Recommended Roles: Combat Medic/General Support
-Bio: A man who had the (mis)fortune of being assigned as the lead medic to General Grievous and his Kaleesh, Riphath has found himself rapidly promoted up the ranks due to the odd positions he found himself in during his tour of duty. While he is intelligent, a fast learner, and a sociable person in general, Riphath has consistently struggled with self-confidence issues throughout his time as an Abysswalker as well as the considerable burdens his new position has placed upon him.

Piebald
-Species: Human
-Gender: Male
-Created By: @prince84
-First Appearance: Agent Piebald
-Closely Affiliated With: N/A
-Recommended Roles: Assault/Demolition
-Bio: A man who loves explosives more than anything else in the galaxy, Piebald has already acquired an infamous reputation among his peers for his ability to create explosives out of the most unassuming and implausible objects he can get his hands on. However despite some negative opinions about him Piebald played a crucial role in the second Foundry assault, destroying considerable amounts of extermination droids with his explosions and dealing heavy damage to the scrap titan on the lowest deck.

Koliya Karrosi
-Species: Cathar
-Gender: Male
-Created By: @Whumbly
-First Appearance: Aftermath Of Major Malevolent
-Closely Affiliated With: Asajj Ventress
-Recommended Roles: Infiltrator, Close Combat
-Bio: An informant for the Watchers back when they were a small gang, Koliya's training now serves him well as an Abysswalker well-suited for more subtle missions. This does not mean that he is weak in close combat, as before he became a Watcher he was a part of a fighting ring that honed his close combat abilities, and he is still very much proficient in them. He also deserves credit for being one of the more "normal" Abysswalkers, and has always been civil to his peers during his tenure.

Goraah the Hutt
-Species: Hutt
-Gender: Male
-Created By: @Sinsystems
-First Appearance: Abysswalker Dossier: Goraah the Hutt
-Closely Affiliated With: Qymaen
-Recommended Roles: Heavy Assault
-Bio: Quite possibly the oddest member of the Walkers so far (and that is saying a lot), Goraah is an anomaly among Hutts in that he seeks battle with a fervor rivaling the Kaleesh, and with his Matukai training he is an extremely dangerous force on the battlefield. His passion for warfare even extends to his hobbies, as he enjoys creating scale models of various famous battles from galactic history.

Shahdra Wyn
-Species: Zabrak
-Gender: Male
-Created By: @dredloki
-First Appearance: Shahdra Wyn's Ruminations
-Closely Affiliated With: N/A
-Recommended Roles: Sniper
-Bio: A somewhat airheaded man and one-time slave, Shahdra's slightly irreverent personality belies an incredibly keen sniper whose Blazing Chains training has allowed him to become incredibly accurate and deadly.

Brriik'kitt'jas B'usevoe "Brik"
-Species: Jawa
-Gender: Male(?)
-Created By: @andreicata
-First Appearance: Abysswalker Dossier: Brriik'kitt'jas B'usevoe
-Closely Affiliated With: N/A
-Recommended Roles: Slicer/Ranged Support/Scavenger
-Bio: A Tatooine native that managed to get off-world and go exploring, he was picked up during a salvaging operation on Taris. He displayed considerable aptitude with machines and hacking, and when it was discovered he was Force-Sensitive he was given the chance to go through the Agent program in exchange for the ability to work with teams in other areas of the galaxy.

Joo Lee
-Species: Lurmen
-Gender: Female
-Created By: @bookworm702
-First Appearance: Joo Lee's Debriefing
-Closely Affiliated With: N/A
-Recommended Roles: Infiltration/Slicer
-Bio: A Lurmen Seeker whose abilities in the Force were first discovered when she prevented a vision of an operation going wrong from occurring. Her small stature makes her an excellent infiltrator, though she wishes she didn't have to crawl through so many vents.

Koyi Doroturo
-Species: Twi'lek
-Gender: Female
-Created By: @Omniatrix
-First Appearance: Koyi Loves Her Job
-Closely Affiliated With: N/A
-Recommended Roles: Social Manipulation/Interrogation
-Bio: A skilled social manipulator, Koyi's abilities with the Force were discovered after an exemplary record of getting people to talk about things they normally shouldn't with only the slightest of prods. She enjoys her work considerably, and jumped at the chance to expand her skillset through the Abysswalker program.

Saato
-Species: Dathomirian
-Gender: Female
-Created By: N/A (Canon Character)
-First Appearance: Temple Bombing: Questions and Answers
-Closely Affiliated With: Asajj Ventress
-Recommended Roles: Deep Cover Infiltration/Assassination/Sabotage/Espionage
-Bio: A former agent of Dooku and a fomer Nightsister, Saato's time in both groups has given her a wide range of skills and techniques that make her one of the most dangerous Walkers on the roster. While she is more than capable of operation on her own, she prefers to work with Asajj on assignments whenever possible.

Foehammer-class HMP-2 J-479, "Jane"
-Species: Shard
-Gender: Female
-Created By: @Always Late
-First Appearance: Abysswalker Dossier: Foehammer-class HMP-2 J-479, "Jane"
-Closely Affiliated With: Jango Fett/HK-47
-Recommended Roles: Insertions & Extractions/Airborne Assault/Guerilla Warfare
-Bio: The other competitor for "oddest member of the Walkers," Jane is a Shard that, through some mind tricks and sheer chutzpah on her part, managed to become the brain for a customized Heavy Missile Platform Gunship. While it made training her as a Walker...complicated, it also meant that upon graduation she is now able to act as an insertion unit for some of the Watchers' most dangerous operations...so long as her passengers are able to handle her cantankerous personality.

AN: We're getting a lot of Walkers running around, so here's a list for reference! A few details:

"Recommended Roles" basically is a guideline for "what would this person most likely be doing on a given mission." It's not hard and fast, but it should give a decent idea of what a Walker is particularly good at.

"Closely Affiliated With" is more of a guideline for what major characters tend to show up in their omakes or when they feature in the main story.

Some Walkers might not have much of a bio when they're first introduced, but once they start doing stuff and/or get more omakes dedicated to them their bios will naturally expand with that.

There's that list of Walkers that was requested earlier. Should help people keep track of those guys and their general personality traits.

Relatedly, there is still one Walker available for omake writers. Just wanted to remind people in case anyone is still interested in that!

Don't really have the time to write an omake, unfortunately. A potential idea for an abysswalker that I'd find neat, though, would be someone who (ab)uses the short-term precognition most force-users have (IIRC) to set up Goldberg-esque sequences for sabotage or assassination, or to create distractions.

Like placing a small ball on the ground, which someone slips on and careens into someone else, starting a small brawl that sends a heavy box flying over the railing, where it crashes into the windshield of a speeder, killing the driver who was one of Palpatine's cronies. Stuff like that.

(Omake) Abysswalker Dossier: Alicia Olie (Canon)
Abysswalker Dossier: Alicia Olié
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Closely Affiliated with: Padme Amidala, Senatorial Security
Recommended Roles: Body Guard, Melee Tarpit
Background: The niece of Queen (now senator) Amidala's former pilot Ric Olié, Alicia Olié is a human native of naboo who's parents where crippled in the Trade Federation Invasion. Post invasion, she wished to follow in her uncle into the Naboo royal fighter corps, but found herself without her family's natural talent in a fighter. In fact, she crashed during training a dozen times and has the seemingly supernatural ability to cause even autopilots to fail spectacularly just by touching them. As a result, she transferred to the Royal Naboo Security Forces, under Captain Panaka. Her admiration for her Young Queen, and later young senator combined with her prestigious talent, stood her in excellent stead and exposed her to the savior of Naboo, Lady Ciaran. In the aftermath of Lady Ciaran's near death she was reassigned, at Padme's insistence, to Lady Ciarian's service as a bodyguard. Alicia accepted to guard the life of the woman who near single handily reforged Naboo's economy, and to help provide her family with the higher paycheck. Naturally, Lady Ciaran was somewhat cautious in trusting her with the inner secrets of the organization, but she did serve as an excellent manager of site security on Coruscant.

Eventually Tyro Torwin noticed her talent in the force and inducted her into the abysswalkers. That talent was honed over a series of missions allowing her to understand more an more of the inner secrets of the organization, secrets that she reacted fairly well to, considering everything, though she did write a petition to anonymously return The Lost Orb of Phanastacoria, The Crown of King Tapalo of Naboo and the Magnus Charter.* With the completion of her training, and the expansion of Senatorial Security Solutions, she has been assigned as a member of Padme Amidala's security detail.

*Lady Ciarian is reportedly considering returning them as a wedding or engagement gift to Padme.

Abilities: An unusual combat style that centers around a lightsaber and a custom "lightshield" that gives her considerable defensive ability, at the cost of making her somewhat less mobile than the average Jedi or Abyss Walker. Also capable of Matukai techniques and Blazing Chains blaster control, although she specializes in deflecting blaster bolts away from herself any others rather than using the ability offensively.

Hence why I said good or bad. It's an interesting character profile, is all I'm saying.

I agree, however it is such an enormous risk that I personally consider the existence of the character too much of a security nightmare to exist.

Basically if we had someone with force powers (and hence likely to tempt Palatinate into a spot of kidnapping torture and murder to satisfy his curiosity) not just in the Senate but near Padme (but without Ciran's notoriety to shield them) I submit that we would have probably lost already as Sidious would have discovered some of our deepest secrets including but now limited to our association with the Sith Order and knowledge of the Plan.

(Omake) Abysswalker Dossier: Brriik'kitt'jas B'usevoe (Canon)
Abysswalker Dossier: Brriik'kitt'jas B'usevoe (Only Thrawn can pronounce this name, everyone else calls him Brik)
Species: Jawa
Gender: Male(we think)
Closely Affiliated With: N/A
Recommended Roles: Hacker/Ranged Support/Scavenger
Bio: Native to Tatooine this particular jawa is fond of exploring new locations, he found himself on Taris where he stumbled across one of our salvage teams. During their journeys across the Undercity Brik has show quite the talent for providing deadly blaster fire support against all threats encountered. His experience in scavenging, repairing and reprogramming droids from scrap allowed him to distinguish useless junk items from slightly valuable junk items far more easily that the other members of the team as well as gave him a respectable skill at bypassing cybernetic security measures.Has a weird habit of collecting random stuff because 'it might be useful later'. He was discovered as being force sensitive during one of the routine visits to the surface and has agreed to become an Abyss Agent in order to explore more new locations.
