TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands.
To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.
I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.
I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.
I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all.
Recently I decided to rewatch a film I vaguely remembered from my childhood. That film being Real Steel from 2011. If you don't know the film, the basic synopsis below will fill you in on the general plot, but I highly recommend the film to both sci-fi nerds and boxing fans (an overlap I happen to be in!) Given that, and I just rewatched the reaction from The Media Knights (who're pretty good, I gotta say!).
I love the work you put into this and it's clear that a healthy amount of time and effort went into this... So I hate to be that guy, but we've already got a Real Steel pitch. I did one ages ago as an animated TV Show, so although a live action pitch can work(I know overmind expressed interest in that), it would have to conform to that original pitch(less because the pitch existed already and more so because we've already got the script for it/it's capable of being produced already). Same goes for the Omake idea.
So, like I promised, here's a real pitch that I've been working on (heh  "real"). In truth, I've had this on the back burner for months, only just recently getting around to finishing it. I remember when I first watched this film, I pretty quickly fell in love, and I actually owned a copy...

The Live Action Continuity and a Cartoon Continuity (Of course, some similarities and the characters not completely altered for "why not?" would be enjoyed by fans, but it'd be fresh if something new would occur that wouldn't just stop them from ignoring the live action's version in favour of Cartoon variant.)
After all, the Transformers Live Actions do not have the same plot etc. with Transformers Cartoons.

Conform was probably the wrong way of putting it. "Account for" is closer to what I meant. The pitch obviously doesn't account for the show script already existing and neither does the Omake idea because he didn't realize that my pitch already existed. They just need to be adjusted to account for them, and they'd be fine. I actually really like the Omake idea he had and I wouldn't mind it, again, as long as it accounted for what's already been established by my pitch. @DoctorDre, PM if you want and we can come up with a way together to make it work.

John Milius had been a surprise addition to Lucasfilm's back when you were starting. Though not an unwelcome one as at the time you had been still looking for writers, and what better than one that would appear in the same breath as George and Martin when talking about the new generation of Hollywood filmmakers. Heck, he had been one of the most sought-after screenwriters in Hollywood, was seen as a colorful character with a talent for lively interviews. His self-styled "Zen Anarchist"/"American samurai" persona made him stand out in Hollywood when most of the movies and scripts done were basically rehashes of the same idea over and over again.
And speaking with him, you could see it. He is a man who had exuberant energy within him, someone who simply loved living and experiencing everything that could come from life itself; he loved surfing, he loved Japanese culture as well as the eastern traditions and philosophy, and just loved writing. Whether it was for an original script or for someone else, he was willing to do it so long as certain conditions were met. You actually laughed the time he told you how he actually rewrote Dirty Harry on the condition that he be given an expensive gun.
And to top it all off, you'd also learned that he'd been one of the inspirations for the character of John Milner when George made American Graffiti. After all of that, how could you not be glad to have the man work for you.
His involvement soon paid dividends when it came to many of your films. His work on both Conan and Solomon Kane soon establishing him as one of the top members of the writer's team (though you did have to change a bit on Conan to make it a bit more faithful to the material), as he became the go to guy if you wanted some opinion or a rewrite with one of the scripts. He did not mind either, his mind already working on the next movie, the next adventure, and his abundant energy and passion pushing him towards greater ambitions when it came to films.
It soon became apparent that he wanted to be not only writing, but also directing and molding the story in how it should be done, and if you had not gotten Steven to work on Conan then he would more than likely have asked to take on the directing chair right then and there.
Nonetheless, Jhon kept his ambition within, his work exemplary as always, and his friendship with the rest of the writers and directors as vibrant as ever. But the times he spent on his own personal project. A tale that he had poured his fascination and wishes for when he was a younger man and wished to enlist yet was denied because of his asthma.
That had been a surprise for you actually, to think that Milius of all people had such a fascination for war to the point that he wished to become a Marine and enlist to fight at Vietnam. He actually felt cheated out of "His war" as he called it, and despite all that had been shown, and all the stories from the Vietnam veterans, he still had a desire to experience the real thing, an obsession to prove himself in battle, something he himself agreed that might not be completely sane, yet it was something that remained within.
Thus, in lieu of going to fight now that the war was over (and hopefully there would be a long, long time until the next one) he put all his passion and all his dreams into his writing; thus he created a story of war, of sacrifice, of determination and patriotism. A tale of a group of highschoolers being thrust into a bloody fight for their lives and freedom, and the pride that would come from a valiant struggle against the horde of Communism.
A film he called Red Dawn. The story of a hypothetical World War III with the invasion of America by the Soviet Union.
It was an interesting tale, for all that at times you had to admit it felt like he was glorifying war a bit too much in it. Oh sure, he showed the dark side of it alright, but most of it seemed pretty tamed down, and the moments where they shined did not seemed that real or shocking to begin with. Most of the characters seem a bit one note as well, and if you're going to be honest, the idea of having the main antagonist be a Cuban Commander with Russian assistance seems a bit odd when the main traditional enemy of the U.S. is supposed to be Soviet Russia. That the film also has the invasion set in Colorado and has the Russians invade all the way to the Rockies with hardly any opposition paints a grim picture, yet it also seems odd as to how the heck did they manage to go that deep.
And don't even start with how the heck is America allied with China...though then again, this was before the...incident...which basically had them blacklisted from nearly the entire world.
And they've better learn to never target your family again...
Regardless, the entire first script had a lot of contrivances for it to work; to wit, it had America suddenly going isolationist, Europe going green and getting rid of all their nukes, NATO dissolving, Mexico and Central America going communist, Cuban saboteurs somehow managing to ground the entire air force, etc., etc. Basically, it needed so much for it to happen that frankly broke some of the suspension of disbelief for the movie, yet it also seemed to make it entertaining for some reason that you can't understand, almost as if your mind is trying to both make it work while at the same time you're just wondering how is it possible for it to do so.
In the end, you had given the go ahead for the entire project to go forward. This was Milius' baby after all, and you did want to see what he could do when given both a script and direction of an entire film. You had already made plans for filming and production, hopefully for an early 81' release.
Then the Romanian revolution happened, and everything went out the window.
You still remember the day and how the entire situation developed, mostly because though you all tried to think otherwise, and the news clearly showed that the "Sons of the Dragon" had been planning for the eventual removal of Nicolae Ceaușescu along with is communist masters, it still did not change the fact that it had been one of Lucasfilm's movies which had provided the spark to ignite the entire gunpowder barrels of the foundation. You still remember that CIA meeting which just about gave Mike conniptions, the horror that was unleashed after decades of oppression and death.
And you remember how Milius just skipped about to film it all without any notice.
It was about the most insane actions that you'd ever thought possible, and one that knowing him you should have predicted. One that you should have stopped him from as more and more news of the devastation, the death, and the brutalities being committed were shown in the news...and you knew that this was just what they could find happening; not everything was shown, not everything was discovered, and by the time that the Soviets decided to break the treaty on the use of chemical weapons you feared the worst had happened.
Until one day John came back...but it was not him, or not the one you remembered.
The man who'd gone had been one of excitement, eagerness, imagination and joy at finally being able to participate on what had been denied to him. The person who came back had a dead eyed look on his face, hardly spoke, and if he had to interact with someone did so in as few words as possible. Most of the time he could be found at the bottom of a bottle, and from what you were able to gather from his friends, he could hardly speak about what he'd seen or done back in Romania. For a while there you had feared that whatever had happened had permanently broken him, turned what had been a vibrant and happy man into just a shell living on borrowed time.
You guess the old adage it's true; be very careful what you wish for.
But if your greatest fear had been John taking drastic decisions, then you were proven wrong in the following months, as John, though not easily, and not without the support from his friends, slowly but surely began crawling back, first to a semblance on what he was before, before once more beginning to smile once more, going back to writing, slowly but surely "coming back to life" as it were. Though on some levels he had been changed by the dark experience of war, he had managed to if not forget it, then at least proven himself to be resilient enough to keep on living with those memories.
Heck, part of his experience helped him when he would go on to write one of the best movies along with Francis, one that even won an Oscar. Yet the greatest change would be the one when he once more took the script at hand of Red Dawn, took a hard look at it, and revised it once more, working sometimes late into the night, changing and adapting what had once been just a narrow look at war, and expanded it with his new experiences and trauma. He poured everything in it, many times calling it "Therapeutic Writing" as his feelings and emotions pushed him even further to create new plots, new scenes, and an entire new story.
At the end of the day, he had made a trilogy out of a former single movie script. An anthology of World War III, and this one would show both the ugly side of war, and why sometimes it is necessary to face it.
It was a fascinating tale all in all; a world where both Mexico and Central America still go Communist, yet most of the other changes to the world from before had been either removed or abandoned altogether; America never went isolationist, yet economic issues have caused a recession that has gutted their military budget. Europe has not gone green nor gotten rid of their Nukes (nor has NATO dissolved) but their need for oil and energy crisis has hit them hard, making it difficult to overcome a Soviet thrust into both Germany and Italy, even with assistance from the United Kingdom. China is not even mentioned in the film, and the entire location for the film has moved from Colorado to Washington, specifically Seattle.
And is here where the movie begins, when the main characters, a group of friends from school, having just finished their school day and going to enjoy their weekend are suddenly ripped from their normal lives as air raid sirens begin to wail, sudden explosions burst throughout the city, and paratroopers begin to fall down and face off against the police and authorities. Chaos abounds through the entire shot as the group (Jed, Matt, Robert, Danny, Daryl and Arturo) try to flee and escape, with many shots of the invading soviets either mowing down the opposition or entire areas being blocked as the group steal a car to try and escape.
Once both the characters and the danger they will face has been established, the story movies forward as the group try to hide from the invasion in Jed's home, where his father (Tom Eckert), a Wastewater Treatment Operator, gives them shelter as the fight rages on the outside. Radio is being blocked and there's hardly any news coming from the outside. As the chaos approaches, Tom guides the teens to the sewers, but is captured on the way as he leads their pursuers way, Jed having to lead them with the maps his father gave him of the tunnel system. And thus, it's here, with their home and families lost, that Jed Eckert now has the burden of leadership thrust upon him, as he now faces an invasion, the loss of everything he knows, and the destruction of his world as he knows it.
From there the movie makes sure to show how the group slowly but surely grows in size thanks in part to the addition of Toni and Erica Mason, a couple of girls they went to school with, and who join them in their first excursion when Jed tries to free his father from a "Re-education" camp, and though they manage to get many people out, there were many others who still died before they could get to the sewers once more. The need for food for the refugees, as well as weapons soon make it so that they have to make regular outings to strike at the invaders, taking the moniker "The Wolverines" from their school mascot, causing many casualties among the invading force, yet also having to deal with the repercussions; a greater retaliation against the civilian population, tightening of security, executions of innocents and bounties placed on their heads.
And the action only escalated even more from there.
John has truly made use of his experience in Romania, as he's included all he learned or witnessed when it comes to urban combat and the usage of traps. The few firearms that they're able to get are mostly used in emergencies,, with more melee weapons used, or whatever they can find in order to fight back. It's an environment that breed survivalists and heroes, just as much as it does victims and collaborators. The entire situation changes as they are soon joined by Lt. Colonel Andrew Tanner, a former pilot who was shot down and was captured before he was released during one of the Wolverines' raids. With his help, the Wolverines are further trained in both guerrilla warfare, while also being given a greater direction beyond just fighting and surviving; helping the refugees and prisoners out of the city into American territory once more, like an "Underground Railroad" of sorts. Tanner thus begins acting as a mentor for the group, especially to Arturo, who has changed the most out of the group, being consumed by the brutality of the war, only feeling alive when he goes out to fight once more.
However it all goes down as one by one the original group begins being whittled down; Coronel Strelnikov, the man in charge of the city (and Spetsnaz Operative) has been tightening the noose with the aid of Mayor Finley Bates, an American collaborator who helped make the invasion possible, and Daryl's father, who has been supplying him information about the activities of the Wolverines whenever he meets with his son. This causes the deaths of Tanner and Arturo as they were leading a raid on the docks, but were caught in a trap. Daryl is taken by the KGB when visiting his father and tortured into give his friends up, Robert and Toni die in the Soviets attack in the sewers while holding them back to give the refugees time to escape.
With their forces decimated, and no longer being able to hold for any longer, Jed and Matt decide on a final strike on the docks to cripple the soviet's logistics, as well as to serve as a decoy while both Danny and Erica lead a final group of refugees out of the city. In a final climactic fight scene, most of the docking area, and the supplies that had recently arrived, are destroyed, but the entire group has been killed, Jed and Matt have been mortally wounded, and Jed is barely able to carry him out of the docks, avoiding patrols as they arrive at a park they use to play as kids. Knowing they can't escape any longer, Jed brings his brother to a bench and recalls memories of when they played together, as both of them die in the night.
In the final scene, both Danny, Erica and the refugees manage to get in contact with another group of guerilla fighters, who then help guide them back to American territory, with hope still in their hearts that they will reach safety in time.
The war is not over yet though, not by a long shot.
You really should have learned not to underestimate your writers, and you should have known better than to underestimate John, as the entire film made you feel the savagery of war, the brutality and the destruction it brings to those who fight it, and the depths one can sink when fighting for one's life. The urban combat scenes where some of the most physical and kinetic you've seen, where there is no known choreography to it, just the desire to live leading to using anything and everything at hand to kill one's enemy. You could at times feel the entire fight right as it was happening.
And the characters themselves, whereas before they might have felt one note, they are now fully tridimensional with depth to them. You feel for them, you understand them and their wants, you relate to them in a visceral way when they laugh, when they suffer, when they rise or fall. Each death is painful and tragic, just as every triumph feels both glorious and relieving in knowing they survived. And none of it would have been possible had it not been for the work and effort of each of the cast. MIlius personally spoke to them, regaling them of the experiences of former fighters from Romania in order to help them get into character, and then each of them embodied the personality to perfection in their takes.
Patrick Swayze as Jed Eckert managed to take on the personality of the typical American teen, the one with hope and optimism on the future, yet also with a chip on his shoulder as he does not take the occupation with timidity nor submission. The realities of war slowly begin to erode his will, yet he remains determined to keep on fighting, for both his brother and friends till the end. Charlie Sheen as Matt Eckert makes his first named debut in film and manages to show a degree of talent that if properly nurtured could make him one of the greats. Lea Thompson and Powers Boothe manage memorable performances as both Erica Mason and Andrew Tanner respectively; Tanner really gives it his all as a mentor role to all the kids who have managed to gain the trust of those following him, as well as a surrogate father figure to Arturo.
And you can't ignore the performances of the villains and antagonists either; William Smith as Colonel Strelnikov once more gives credence to his credentials as a master of brutal and menacing figures. You can't help but absolutely loathe him as every action taken shows his callousness towards human life, the sheer disdain towards those whom he has powers over, and the brutal reprisals he brings to the ones who have no power. His final death at the hands of Jed before the latter flees makes for a great comeuppance, and a fitting end for such a despised figure. And yet, the one who most seem to see as the true villain is Lane Smith as Mayor Finley Bates. Perhaps more for the fact that he's the most human out of the bunch, and his actions seem relatable, and yet his fanatism and support for the occupiers (as well as the betrayal of his own son) mark him as the slimiest sort of person, and perhaps a coward of the greatest order.
A perfect performance altogether. And yet you must mention another, as while the previous two are the type of villains to be disgusted by, the third is the kind whom you empathize, and the one whom you can perhaps even feel some sympathy. Ron O'Neal plays as Commander Ernesto from Cuba, leading an allied unit for the occupation, and finding himself disgusted by the actions taken by the Russians and collaborators, showing that in him still lies some humanity that balks at the death and destruction, seeing the communist lie for what it truly is. In the end, after the death of Colonel Strelnikov, and the highest surviving rank officer, he calls off the search for the fleeing refugees, even letting Jed escape into the night where he could have killed him, tired of the bloodshed and killing.
And that was not only your opinion, for when the film was released and the first reviews came through, all that they could say of the film was pure perfection. A film that finally showed how war was not something glorious to achieve, and instead managed to ring a realistic yet still deeply patriotic film altogether without making it overly preachy nor heavy handed. The message is both subtle and respects the intelligent of the audience by avoiding giving answers, and letting them make their own decisions on what is shown before them. The result has been a deluge in the theaters as no one, not a single person watching this film, has anything bad to say about it. If there' anything to mention they can only rave about a movie that brings some of the best war fighting scenes, an excellent score, and a true dramatic story that has nuance in it rather than just a simple premise trying to bite more than it can chew.
The box office in America alone more than made up for more than two thirds of the total profit it made, but it was their release overseas that surprised you as you had expected a purely America centric movie to not have that much of an impact. However, the fact that the movie involved a Soviet Invasion was more than enough to generate interest in Europe and Japan, as the former still has memories of what the Soviets did in Romania, and the latter knows very well what will happen to them if the Russians manage to invade America's east coast. In Romania alone, one of the most special cases, the theaters ran for nearly six months with the film, and the audience never got tired of seeing it. The Soviet Union banned it of course, but bootlegged copies are being smuggled into the Warsaw Pact countries who consume nearly everything made by Lucasfilm's, recognizing both the message, and quality, that you can produce.
There have been mentions of an Oscar for Milius for the movie, and the prospect for more movies in this new Universe that he's created has sparked the interest of Hollywood and the viewers...and yet, for John Milius, it didn't seem to matter much beyond knowing the movie was a success. As soon as he was able to, he took the first flight to Romania where he was able to visit the men and women who helped him, who protected him, and even those who he fought with during his stay.
And once there, he gave them all money, pictures, and cards from the cast and crew.
Before leaving, he left flowers for all the many who would never get the chance to see the movie.
And once that was done, he made the trip back home, to continue living as all people have to. You can see him already healing from his previous issues, and you can see that in the end he will once more go back to being the same man as before, though perhaps a bit more wiser than previously. Already he has planned the sequel, and wants to begin work on principal photography in order to strike while the iron is hot.
EA is about playing fair..in which only comes in a bundle deal along with the Bill Cypher. EAS is a dedicated electronic device that incorporates signals to allow players to watch normal television, but there is an added feature that allows it to also become a video game display for consoles adopted to the compatible Cable System – called HDMI. Not to mention it also contains an in-built speaker at the bottom of the screen (in addition to its own remote and ability to mute/disable speaker), and an added offer of a much stronger and clearer speaker as its own individual device.
The Bill Cypher is an experimental console made by the R&D Department towards a future away from standard Arcade Games and into the next millennium. To take this into consideration, the Cypher comes with its own Controller, powered by batteries. A closer look into the Console and Controller's differences to other consoles would surely paint a new directive heading:
The Hardware and Software:
A revolutionary concept that takes a step away from the standard form of arcades, and inspired by the previous forms of video games, is the development of a new cable that easily allows the console to connect with any form of screen (if it's compatible) and it would act as a display for games to appear on.
If bought the deluxe Bundle of the Cypher, a slimmer television is provided that allows the player to have access to normal signal channels while also having access to playing games on-screen through connections with the Cypher.
The Cypher includes two systems of being able to play games, one for cartridge-based games and the other for the revolutionary disc-based games. These would allow players the ability to play old and new games and bridge the gap of the two different regions of gaming.
Different Guis and Hardware that allows more processing power to handle more complex and advanced games that would allow more additions and features to be explored for the game developers to innovate ambitions for their new games.
The Sound System:
The Sound System is less of an actual playing of music, which leaves a lot of space in the console, and more of a sound processing and ability to play sounds and other music of games processed into the compatible devices that has the ability to play sound. With better computational power, sound and music can finally escape the confines of the 8-Bit blockade and can have the ability to play music on par with music and karaoke channels..however, if the game utilises 8-Bit and other simple sounds/songs, it would still work – but cleaner.
Additional Features:
Bill Cypher offers a 2-Controller port that allows the player to play with another using the same console, not to mention an experimental device that allows the games to connect using an interweb of connection with other Cypher Systems for Online Playing.
Mod Support Features offer a new way to play games: modifying them! If connected to a computer, the Lucas Electronic Arts Website holds a new tab: Steam Workshop, named after the Steam Game Engine. This Steam Workshop allows the player to publish their own mods and download mods to play Mod-supported games for free.
The S.P.O.N.G.E.B.O.B. is the first Game Engine of Lucas Electronic Arts, with features that encompasses previous arts and programming in addition to the provided research and development of newer models and experimentative ideas that would be focused for refining and a consistent update to make sure none of the Lucas Electronic Arts games would fall behind. Feedback is encouraged to oversee new groundbreaking ideas being created to advance the world of Games.
Currently, the Game Engine allows the creation of Games for Console and PC.
N/A: A great start-point for others who wants to expand the trend of Consoles, Games, Electronics that would be great for bundle deals..
How did I get the inspiration for Bundle Deals? Look at the title of the first on this post, remove "System" from it, and you can see why
This is actually a pretty revolutionary idea, but it's kinda crazy to have the console and game engine be named after Bill Cipher and Spongebob respectively.

As they say within the Company... Leave Luck to Heaven, and carve your own path into the world of entertainment and Nintendo itself, but here is the twist of fate.
You are NOT Nintendo proper, the Empire of the Yamauchi clan; You are Nintendo of America, and the year is 1980.
YOU are Minoru Arakawa, a Civil Engineer, Businessman, Father and Leader of the fledgling Company.
Within this daunting task ahead you must manage your home life, your company and your very sanity. The task ahead is fraught with difficulty; an unstable market, a difficult-to-please master who is also your in law; and your only refuge being a restaurant a few blocks away, it is a task that is near impossible.
But you are not a fool, nor are you one to give up, you will see this through and find fortune and fame in a land of opportunity.

Current Master: Hiroshi Yamauchi, THIRD PRESIDENT OF NINTENDO, and your brother-in-law. The Nintendo Board of Directors.
The Year is 1982, and you must carry on.
Current Boons and Banes:
"It's On Like Donkey Kong"- With the worldwide and smashing success of the Donkey Kong Arcade Cabinet, the profits and power of Nintendo in America have never been brighter, but with great and prominent success, comes with it, expectations. (Donkey Kong's Sucess in 1981 grants a +15 to all Video Game development rolls permanently as you fill in the new niche, But you have a -15 should you be forced to work outside of the videogame entertainment Niche at this time, THIS TRAIT WILL MUTATE IN 1983)
"The Universal Empires Gaze Upon You"- So with Donkey Kong taking many liberties (some would say outright stealing, you would call it homaging) from the original 1933 King Kong, it has gotten the attention of Sidney Sheinberg, the President and CEO of Universal Studios, and while it hasn't led to a Lawsuit yet, there are rumblings of one. (You have the attention of one of America's Titans of America, and action must be taken to defend your company from it)
Active Quests
(Actions you must take at least three times a year for the Company):
"Gunpei Yakoi and the Quest of Technological Parity"- Gunpei Yakoi head of Nintendo's Design division and unofficial head of technical development, has a need for news on technological development in the West, be it computer software or Operating systems the man would like to know. He has big plans for the unavailing of his work and wants to be on the cutting edge.
Business
The Seattle Shuffle:
The Move to Washington was hard on everyone but the opportunities were boundless, from the slowly evolving technical area of the city to that weird Coffee House everyone was excited about or even going on a stool by the Space Needle. Let us go on a walk, meet some people, I'm sure the men and woman at the office would enjoy their new home, give them (And yourself) time to explore the city.
D100 => 80
The Nintendo of America Staff scatter across the City take to their new surrounding and form connections that will help Nintendo thrive in their new home. Chance to meet someone that impresses you.
Armored and ON Like Donkey Kong: With the name like KONG in the character name you know you are inviting trouble with the MCA and Universal, But this gives you time to BUILD your case on your own terms, but thats just it, you need to prepare accordingly.
D100 => 97
You prepare a steller case in terms of a legal defence, and have the best of your legal defence prepared. +20 to legal defence argument and roll overall.
Convert cabinets – Oh Canada
You have six people available and another Rush Job converting the Last Radar scope cabinets to Donkey Kong machines has just appeared. Donkey Kong is in Strong demand in Canada.
Ah crap, I didn't realize, I must've missed that, but honestly I can totally conform to the show's idea if need be. But yeah, I didn't realize someone already pitched this, my bad.
Anywho, to at least get my creative outlet about this project, I'll just make my Omake here.
The early summer sun shone down on the campus of the University of Colorado Boulder (known simply as CU Boulder to most of the students), casting long shadows across the quad where students lounged, studying or chatting. Two young men and a young woman sat on the steps of the library, a script in front of them and a stack of papers beside them. The trio, each in their early twenties, were deep in discussion about their latest script—until they received a piece of news that turned their world upside down.
"I still can't believe it," said Dennis Lovejoy (the oldest of the trio), running a hand through his fire red hair. "After all that work, someone else beat us to it." The sweat of the summer heat drips down onto the brim of his glasses.
"Yeah, it sucks," replied Andy LaMotta, leaning back against the stone steps and squinting up at the sky. His dirty blonde curls shone in the sun as he leaned back. "I mean, an anime? That's what they're turning it into? It'll be for like...kids! Our script was made for everybody man!"
"Not all anime's for kids, Andy," corrected Amanda Schuman, the third member of the group, curling her hair into a ponytail as they spoke. "But I read the article twice. Same concept: robot boxing. It's even named 'Real Steel', some of the character names are similar, I mean, for God's sake Dennis, they already have a finished script!"
"How is that even possible, man?" Dennis asked, frustration evident in his voice. "We worked damn hard on 'Real Steel'. It was our idea, our baby."
"Hollywood's a big place," Andy said with a shrug, with Dennis feeling that Andy being nonchalant about their months of planning and working being tossed down in the drain was kind of a dick move on his part. "Maybe it's just a coincidence."
"Or maybe someone stole it," Amanda muttered, her eyes narrowing at Dennis. "Remember when we sent our script to your cousin, in L.A.?"
"You think my cousin Mark leaked it?" Dennis' eyes widened in shock and offence.
"I'm not saying it 100 percent, but...it's possible," Amanda replied. "But proving its another matter entirely."
"So, what do we do now?" Andy asked, trying to shake off the growing tension. "Do we just give up?"
"No way," Dennis said firmly. "We've put too much into this to just walk away. We need to pivot."
"Pivot?" Andy raised an eyebrow. "How?"
"Rewrite it," Dennis said, his voice resolute. "Take the core of what we have and change it enough so it's not the same."
Amanda sighed, looking down at the scattered papers. "That's easier said than done. We'll have to change a lot."
Andy shrugs, "Dude, can't we just...sue? We have proof we came up with the idea first."
"Right, Andy, you have the funds to mount a years-long legal defense, I'm sure that's right next to your giant piggy bank where you keep your millions." Amanda replied sarcastically, rolling her eyes.
Dennis leaned back, rubbing his temples. "She's right. Even if we had the money, it could take forever, and there's no guarantee we'd win. We need a solution that we can control."
"Okay, fine," Andy conceded. "But I'm just saying, it feels like we're getting shafted here."
"Yeah, it does," Amanda agreed, her tone softening. "But we have to be practical. We can't let this stop us."
Dennis straightened up, determination flickering in his eyes. "Amanda's right. Let's look at this as an opportunity to make something even better. We've got a solid foundation with 'Real Steel'. We just need to build on it, make it uniquely ours."
"How about we brainstorm right now?" Amanda suggested. "Just throw out ideas, no matter how crazy they sound."
"Alright," Andy said, leaning forward. "How about we change the setting? Maybe it's not just about boxing anymore, but a whole world where robots are used for all kinds of competitive sports."
Dennis nodded thoughtfully. "I like that. Maybe our protagonist could be a disgraced athlete who uses his skills to train robots for these different sports. It broadens the scope and gives us more to work with."
"Yeah, and instead of just focusing on the protagonist, we could have a team," Andy added. "Each member specializes in a different sport. It could be like a 'Magnificent Seven' but with robots and sports."
Dennis nods, and begins to think, before he suddenly snaps his fingers in a 'Eureka' moment, "You guys remember when Bruce O'Brian was in the Olympics and that...that doping test guy tried to rig his results so he could lose? Maybe we can make it where the mechanic in the Robot Olympics is trying to do the same or something."
Initially, the group nod, but Amanda stops, "W-wait, no, that's too limited, what if there's a sinister group controlling these sports, fixing the outcomes for their own gain? Our protagonist could uncover the conspiracy and fight back."
At this, Andy stands up, "I got it! Our protagonist can be like...an athlete who got caught doping, got kicked out and by the time he tried to come back into sports, human sports weren't popular anymore!"
Dennis snaps his fingers again, "So in order to be apart of the thing he loves, he becomes a robot mechanic for the Olympics. And instead of an estranged son, it can be a daughter! Maybe she's a coding genius or something, and they bond over their love of robots and sports, and in fighting against the corruption!"
Andy added, "And we need a real villain. Someone charismatic but dangerous. Maybe a former champion who now runs the corrupt organization."
Dennis wrote furiously, capturing every idea. "This is good. Really, really good. It's different enough from the original, but we're keeping the heart of what we loved about 'Real Steel'."
Amanda smiled. "And it's got something for everyone—action, drama, a bit of mystery. It's perfect."
Andy nodded, a grin spreading across his face. "I'm in. Let's do this."
The trio spent the next several hours fleshing out their new story. They created new characters, designed unique robot sports, and plotted intricate twists and turns. As the sun set and the campus grew quiet, their script began to take shape...

D100 => 80
D100 => 97
You prepare a steller case in terms of a legal defence, and have the best of your legal defence prepared. +20 to legal defence argument and roll overall.
Convert cabinets – Oh Canada

Dang it Negaverse SEGA stop rolling well! And is it wrong that now I want Donkey Kong to spark a war between SEGA and Universal? I know it's unlikely but I like watching other peoples drama.
