Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Dude, I am perfectly fine with having lots of competition with the rest of the Studios in Hollywood (this is called a Hollywood quest) because otherwise things wouldn´t be fun...

But I am also perfectly fine with becoming the dominant player in basically every side thing that we get into just because it´s cool...
To me, it just doesn't make sense for Orion to do this after he pushed for Talsorian support so massively with lots of omakes. This is completely different from Hanna-Barbera purchase because Hanna-Barbera makes American cartoons while Sunrise makes anime and Hanna-Barbera does comedy while Sunrise is mecha and superheroes, and Dreamworks overall handles films. Talsorian and TSR under Lucasfilms would be two companies competing in a niche market. It'd just get ugly fast.
I have to say that it makes perfect sense that Orion (and many others) want to buy TSR... Simply because even if we already own Taslorian Games, no one could dny that DnD and all its settings are pretty fucking cool, and we have more than enough money to buy it (and a Legal team that gives us +50 to negotiations and 2 rerolls) so why choosing when we can get both?.... And as I said before it is completely disingenuous to say that something as common in every industry as buying or creating two subsidiaries with very similar market niches is going to make things go ugly fast (and if you don´t believe me, just take a look at the Trading Card market).

Having said that, and after sleeping, I will switch for the other plan, mainly because the I don´t like the idea of turning The Bruce Lee Gymnasium into a McDojo, and because our main plan maker @Kaiser Chris is not categorically against buying TSR unlike @overmind or @Schehera Zade
. I'd rather one day fold D&D under the Talsorian name which already has a shit load of bonuses to it and we might have an opportunity soon considering TSR's financial troubles on the horizon and customers preference for Talsorian.
, buy TSR when it's in deep financial troubles, and merge it into Talsorian.

I already am iffy on the campus idea but why Ireland? If it was the UK, France, Germany or Italy I could see it but Ireland has a irrelevant movie industry compared to it's european counterparts and against Hollywood it's like comparing a grain of sand against the solar system.

Roleplay wise it fits because Bruce besides being an out and proud American is also a proud Irishman. So he would help his family's homeland

I think that if we buy Ardmore Studios (the one studio in Ireland) like we did with Sunrise and expand it as well, then we get a much better investment and a better way to help Ireland as well.

Movie Pitch Red Dead Redemption
This pitch has been a long time in the making. I remember talking about potentially making this pitch back when I actually first joined this quest. I've since finally been able to make this pitch and y'know what that means? I'm one step closer to putting out the Undertale pitch, another one that's been long in the making and one I've talked about for just as long. Though if I'm being fully honest, the pitch itself is actually done, I'm just working on finishing the cast list descriptions as well as the script and the accompanying omake. I think I should make something clear up front though, and that's the fact that I know nothing about Red Dead Redemption. Like, at all. I just knew that it would make a fucking kick ass film and hopefully bring a bit of a renaissance to Westerns, especially what with Josey Wales having reignited some interest in Westerns. You'll notice that this pitch, despite being titled Red Dead Redemption, is actually about the second game. That was, of course, intentional. The second game is a prequel and I've never really been fond of prequels coming out after the original work(no real reason why, it's just a pet peeve of mine), so I just thought it would be better to make the second game as the first movie. For the director I, of course, choose Clint Eastwood. No need to explain that choice. For the writer, I chose Tarantino, mostly because I couldn't come up with anyone else better and I didn't want to give the writing credit to Mavis. Besides, we know that he'd go on to write a couple of Western-adjacent films, so it shouldn't be too big and issue for him. For the composer, I chose a classic of the Western genre, Ennio Morricone. Honestly, nothing I can say could do him justice, just look up his body of work for yourself. As for the actors? Hoh, boy! I hope you like them, because it took a while, even with help from fancasts online. I'm honestly super happy with the casting and I think that they'll knock this film out of the park. I also tried to include plenty of other alternate casting choices. I didn't include character descriptions though because you got me fucked up if you think that I'm doing it for this many characters for a game I barely know. @Orion Ultor, you'll see that I did not, in fact, make Clint Eastwood Arthur Morgan, just like you asked. I put him under for Hosea, also just like you asked. However, I didn't place him as primary casting for the role, mostly because I didn't think he looked old enough for the role. Richard Harris I thought would be perfect for the role, however. I did put Eastwood as an alternate for Morgan, but I'm angling for Harrison Ford as Arthur Morgan. I think he'd be incredibly strong casting, especially coming off of Indiana Jones, and I think this is a movie that he might enjoy himself with. If anyone has any questions they want to ask, especially about casting, feel free to do so. I feel like I should say more, but I'll leave y'all to it. Without further ado, I hope y'all enjoy!

Movie Pitch
Red Dead Redemption
Written by: Quentin Tarantino
Directed by: Clint Eastwood
Composed by: Ennio Morricone

GENRE: Action/Adventure
SUBGENRE: Western
FORMAT: Movie
SET UP: In 1899, the era of the Wild West is coming to an end as the federal government asserts its control over the lawless territories. Realizing that their fortunes are fading, Dutch Van der Linde's notorious gang plots one last major bank robbery that could set them for life. However, the heist goes awry with several gang members dead or captured and the gang is forced to flee across the country with the law pursuing them. Undeterred, Dutch hopes to pull off one last heist and flee the country, all while the outlaw gang begin experiencing internal divisions that threaten to tear them apart. Dutch's most-trusted lieutenant, Arthur Morgan, sees his loyalty to the gang put to the test as he is forced to come to terms with the changing times and must choose between his ideals or the gang that raised him.
After a botched ferry heist in 1899, the Van der Linde gang are forced to leave their substantial money stash and flee Blackwater. Realizing the progress of civilization is ending the time of outlaws, they decide to gain enough money to escape the law and retire. They rob a train owned by Cornwall, who hires Pinkertons to apprehend them. The gang perform jobs to earn money, as Dutch continually promises the next heist will be their last. Following a shootout with Cornwall's men in Valentine, the gang relocate to Lemoyne, where they work simultaneously for the Grays and Braithwaites in an attempt to turn them against each other. However, the families double-cross them: the Grays set an ambush for the gang in Rhodes, while the Braithwaites kidnap and sell Jack to Bronte. The gang retaliate and destroy both families before retrieving Jack from Bronte, who offers them leads on work, but eventually double-crosses them. Dutch kidnaps and feeds him to an alligator as revenge, which disturbs Arthur.

The gang rob a bank in Saint Denis, but the Pinkertons intervene, killing Hosea and arresting John. Dutch, Arthur, Bill, Javier, and Micah escape the city via a ship heading to Cuba. A torrential storm sinks the ship, and the men wash ashore on the island of Guarma, where they become embroiled in a war between tyrannical sugar plantation owner Fussar and the enslaved local population. After helping the revolutionaries kill Fussar, the group secure transport back to the United States and reunite with the rest of the gang.

Dutch obsesses over one last heist and doubts Arthur's loyalty after he disobeys him by liberating John earlier than planned, naming Micah his top lieutenant in Arthur's place. Arthur becomes concerned Dutch is no longer the man he knew, as he is becoming insular, abandons their ideals, and murders Cornwall. He is faced with his mortality when he is diagnosed with tuberculosis. Arthur reflects on his actions and how to protect the gang, telling John to run away with Abigail and Jack and openly defying Dutch by aiding the local Native American people. When the Pinkertons assault the camp, Dutch becomes paranoid a gang member is working as an informant. Several gang members become disenchanted and leave, while Dutch and Micah arrange one final heist of an Army payroll train.

Arthur's faith in Dutch is shattered when he abandons Arthur to the Army, leaves John for dead, and refuses to rescue a kidnapped Abigail. Arthur and Sadie rescue Abigail from Milton, who names Micah as the Pinkertons' informer before Abigail kills him. Arthur returns to camp and openly accuses Micah of betrayal. Dutch, Bill, Javier, and Micah turn on Arthur and a newly returned John, but the standoff is broken when Pinkertons attack. Arthur aids John's escape by delaying the Pinkertons and Micah ambushes Arthur, before Dutch intervenes in their fight. Arthur convinces Dutch to abandon Micah and leave. Arthur succumbs to his injuries and disease while watching the sunrise, Micah being unable to get to him before he dies in order to execute him.

Eight years later, in 1907, John and his family are trying to lead honest lives. They find work at a ranch where John fights back against outlaws threatening his employer. Believing John is unwilling to give up his old ways, Abigail leaves with Jack. John takes a loan from the bank to purchase a ranch. He works with Uncle, Sadie, and Charles to build a new home, and proposes to Abigail on her return. Learning Micah is still alive and formed his own gang, John, Sadie, and Charles assault his camp. They find Dutch, who shoots Micah after a tense standoff and leaves in silence, allowing John to kill Micah and claim the gang's Blackwater stash to pay his debt. John marries Abigail and they start a new life on their ranch alongside Jack and Uncle, as Sadie and Charles leave for other pursuits.

Mid-credits scenes show the fates of other surviving gang members. Edgar Ross tracks down Micah's killer, which leads him to John's ranch, foreshadowing the events of the next film.

There are better ways to support Ireland then to create a multi-million dollar movie campus to build an industry that is non-exsistant and frankly will never exsit on a scale to justify that investment (the nation is still not very develped in the 1980's, the averge person was not wealthy and it being an english speaking country its media will be imported from the UK and the USA). If he really wants to help them he could use political clout to help the Good Friday agreement come earlier or invest in some other industry that does matter.

Universal’s Triumph
Universal's Triumph:

Universal:D100 => 100

Sid Shineburg was feeling happy today, as he saw the many, many, many films that were failing to Indiana Jones. Now in that front, he was worried. In fact, he was so worried that he almost made a mistake.

But then Mike Eisner talked some sense into him, and of course, everything became much better once he realized… that he was letting Lucasfilms dictate the battlefield. He was letting his rival, the man whom his people allowed to get away and join some mavericks that had no business in the big leagues to become…

Lucasfilms.

But that was for another time. So many things that were finally coming together. And it was something that was going to make Lucasfilms realize something.

They were not going to succeed now. After all, he decided to pull a page out of his enemy's playbook.

Full creative control in a time frame. Lucasfilm could do it, so why not he?

Because it was a goddamn risk, and if he was not careful, it could bite him in the ass in ways that would see his company go the way of Warner.

And he was not going to let his people go the way of Warner. The fact that some of those bastards actually worked under him was something that still drove him insane, and he could do nothing but smile and wave before shoving them elsewhere.

But he had the domino all set. And he had a talented director already, hook, line and sinker.

"Alright, Mister Cameron. Do you accept my offer?" He asked.

James Cameron, thankfully, came to his senses. "Where do I sign?"

Reward: James Cameron has joined Universal.

...Okay....okay, I'm cool.

Look at the bright side....there is no way that he is going to do Aliens now.

We might want to speak to Ellison and get the rights for whatever story inspired the Terminator, that way it belongns to us rather than Cameron.

...And fuck it, I'll make a Pitch for Avatar as well later on.

But I have to say @Magoose that it doesn't make much sense at all that Universal greatest is investment to fight against Lucasfilms is a guy whose only film up to this point is Pirana 2...
Well you are forgetting that he just said, he's giving some guy complete freedom to do what he wants.

And took a gamble on a kid who has talent.

Because say what you want about Sid, he knows how to see Talent.

He saw it in Steve after all, and even in George, kinda.
