The Gunslinger(name may change)
A western but with magic. And yet such a description is misleading because a core part of the setting is magic and guns being deeply entwined. With guns being the vehicle to launch the spells of the mage contained in the bullets it fires. For magic is a dangerous art, and while it was channeled in a more conventional manner by a now lost civilization spoken of in legend, it's dangers prevented it to be rediscovered allowing another method to rise, which happened to be guns and bullets. Ancient lore has become highly sought after, for the knowledge of the past has come to be valuable in further honing a gun mage's craft, and as a result can make all the difference on the battlefield through more powerful or different bullets.
Protagonists
A wondering gunslinger trying to find a way through life, while being hunted for the extremely valuable tome that had been passed down by her family for generations. Seeking out lore and resources to improve and diversify her collection of bullets to better be able to defend herself and make a living while on the run from her past. Reserved and quiet, she holds great passion for history and the arcane art of bullet making.
A cowboy whom lost his job after a bad run-in with cattle rustlers. With deep understanding of the land and various creatures from the wilds, alongside familiarity fighting or scaring off the average outlaw. He has adopted some spiritual beliefs from focal groups, and is surprisingly amicable for his intimidating stature.
An apprentice gunsmith and prodigy. He is surprisingly knowledgeable for his age. While not as experienced in any real form of combat, he is familiar with the various types of bullets used in combat and various gun designs. A bit sheltered, having been in the same town his life, he is optimistic and curious. Has also poked around the local ruins looking for things to grab his interest.
Important Groups
The Criminal group (name pending)- Unexpectedly professional and well equipped compared to most groups. They have connections outside the west having sent members to the wilds in hunt for lore to acquire more power like most other factions in the world. They have a prior history with the gunslinger, with said history being why both are aware of the town's ruins being more than it seems.
The Fallen Empire- Largely nonexistent nowadays. They were known to be the premier mages in all history, considering the fact they wielded magic personally and any attempts to do the same since led to dead researchers, killed by the tool of channeling said energies through their own bodies. And yet, they are also known for their artifacts and magical constructs that had been made, with some even surviving into the modern day, even if the process of making such was lost in their fall.
Story
The story at the start revolves around a town in the frontier, in an era where it is rising in importance, with groups going out scouring areas away from civilization for stuff of value, following after those whom already went and set the foundation of the towns out west. The particular town was founded because of the nearby ruins, even though since the founding the ruins have come to be viewed as emptied out, with other enterprises keeping the town alive. Except not, as the wondering gunslinger and a criminal group, both find a clue about said ruins bringing the two to said town. At the same time the gunsmith's apprentice and his friend, an out of work cowboy stumble upon something that was missed by earlier explorers, some sort of key to something in the ruin, setting them on the same path, with one of the items needed, but not the info the antagonists and the wandering gunslinger has.
The story is built around the three sides clashing, trying to figure out what is going on while aiming for the prize. The gunsmith and cowboy wants to protect the town and uncover what they found, the criminal group wants their payday, and are willing to play very dirty to get it, the wandering gunslinger is trying to hide her past, stop her enemy and get the treasure, whatever it may be.
In later parts of the series, after the dynamic between the three groups are established, a lawman and secret agent whom on the surface are allied but have conflicting goals that put them at odds with each other will be introduced. With the latter having ties to the Gunslinger's past.
