Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

I mean, we have a theme going on here; Lucasfilms ia thw movies, we know that when they made their Videogame division OTL they called it LucasArts (which really fits), so calling our TV division LucasTV just continues a naming theme that was already there.
I mean the O'Brianvision is only the production company, so we can still use the LucasTV as THE actual broadcasting channel name to keep brand awareness because which John Smith knows the production company after a show he likes? Also I want to name something after Bruce because I thinks he deserves it after the millions he invested :p. Also I want to ask people about how they would feel about buying ESPN sinds they are being founded in this year in september.

There is more from @Orion Ultor rewards that I just could not find.
The rewards, or his firearms, horse and car?

[EDIT: Also forgot, what's the rule on Omake releases? I vaguely recall something dropping before I got hit with the triple whammy of work, moving to a new state and Starfield.]

Movie Pitch: Event Horizon
Event Horizon is one of those movies that only got popular after their run in the theaters, one that has become a beloved cult classic when people began to recognize that the story shown was not so much about the humans, but about the ship itself. It's a horror story that, while using shock as a way to scare people, once that passes you find that it's still something really horrifying as it touches on what truly scares humanity: The unknown. For all that is found and shown, we still don't know why or how this is happening, we only know that whatever it is, it's trying to pull us back into where it came from. The heroes in the end don't even win; they survive, and as shown at the end will have to carry the scars (both mental and physical) for the rest of their lives.

The story and show is amazing. I will admit, when I first saw it I thought it was like a clone of Alien (I mean, the premise is nearly identical), but it's when you truly watch the film that you notice that the devil is in the details; this is no scheme by a human corporation but something beyond our comprehension. This is no monster that can be defeated, but one that you can only flee from. There's no sinister traitor in the ranks, only victims that can only try to depend on each other. It's a hopeless story that nonetheless compels you to watch it again.

As thus, I bring you:

Movie Pitch:
Event Horizon

GENRE: Horror/Science Fiction

SUBGENRE: Mistery/Thriller

FORMAT: Movie

Set Up: The movie is set in 2047, and it follows a crew of astronauts who are sent on a rescue mission after a missing spaceship, the Event Horizon, spontaneously appears in orbit around Neptune without any explanation as to why or how, only to discover that a sinister force has come back with it from wherever it may have returned from.

Director: David Cronenberg
Composer: Jerry Goldsmith
Writer: Dan O'Bannon

Captain Miller: He is the captain of the search and rescue vessel, The Lewis and Clark. Miller is shown to be very loyal to both the mission and even more so his crew. Not much is known about him other than he is American and was once on a vessel called The Goliath which caught fire. He was forced to leave one of his men behind, which the Event Horizon uses to torture him.

Played By: Delroy Lindo
Alternate: Michael Dorn

Dr. William Weir: He is an Australian astrological engineer who designed the Event Horizon's gravity drive system. The failure and disappearance of the Event Horizon (as well as his wife's suicide) caused him to go into isolation until the return of the ship had him join the rescue expedition. Weir goes insane and is flung into space, though the ship takes his form later on.

Played By: Richard Burton
Alternate: Bruce Spence

Medical Technician Peters: She is a member of The Lewis and Clark crew. She usually got along with Justin, being like a second mother to him, and tried to save him from his decompression death. She died after falling 20 meters through an open access hatch and breaking her neck. Her nickname by the crew was 'Mama Bear'.

Played By: Karen Black
Alternate: Alice Ghostley

Lieutenant Starck: She is a member of The Lewis and Clark crew. An Englishwoman and technician for the ship whose skills save her life on multiple occasions, as well as of the few survivors by blowing half the ship to escape the return trip to the hell dimension. She is one of the three to make it back to earth alive.

Played By: Veronica Cartwright
Alternate: Virginia Hey

Rescue Technician Cooper: He is a member of The Lewis and Clark crew. He somewhat acts as the comedic relief for the group, constantly cracking jokes, narrating his surroundings and even acting very casual and like they're not on a mission. He has a "Big Brother" type of relationship with Justin, looking after him before and after him nearly dying. He's one of the three survivors of the mission.

Played By: LeVar Burton
Alternate: Mykelti Williamson

Ensign Justin: He is the engineer of the rescue team, and a rather immature but smart young man. He's very close to Cooper and Peters. While exploring the Event Horizon's engine, he is pulled into the Gravity Drive and comes out in a state of catatonia, with symptoms of shock, hallucinations, and seizures. He tries to kill himself, but is saved by Captain Miller, becoming one of the three survivors of the mission.

Played By: Don Johnson
Alternate: Marc McClure

Dr. D.J.: He is a member of The Lewis and Clark crew. During the crew's stay on the ship, he apparently doesn't suffer from hallucinations unlike his crewmates, although he's still partly under the influence of the supernatural forces haunting the Event Horizon. His greatest fear is being dissected alive, caused by a botched surgery in his past.

Played By: David Warner
Alternate: David Clennon

Lieutenant Smith: He is a member of The Lewis and Clark crew. Usually going by his nickname "Smithy", he's a pilot selected to take them to the rescue mission. When on a spacewalk to repair the hull of the Lewis and Clark, an explosion caused by Dr. Weir blasts him, killing him instantaneously.

Played By: John Hurt
Alternate: Peter Jason
Captain John Kilpack: Captain of the Event Horizon, his recorded message is all that remains as he repeats over and over "Libera te tutemet ex inferis" ("Save yourself from hell").

Claire Weir: Dr. Weir's wife, she died by suicide years before the Event Horizon went on its first voyage. She reappears in the ship as a hallucination, tormenting Dr. Weir.

Denny Peters: He is Peters' son. He appears as a hallucination tormenting Peters, showing himself as being covered in bloody lesions while calling for help.

Edmund Corrick: He is Captain Miller's former shipmate from the Goliath who was left behind. He appears as a hallucination to torment Captain Miller.

A.N.: So, do you think we can make a franchise out of this? On the one hand, the fear of the unknown works best when it serves as a one off and you don't give any time for the fans to try and justify their theories with further entries. on the other hand, if we can try for a more Anthology based franchise then we can basically have our cake and eat it too.

Deus Ex: Eureka (a R. Talsorian Cyberpunk Story): by Mike Pondsmith and Dave Alistair [ Novel / MiniSeries (Live-Action) | Cyberpunk / Comedy Drama ]

Logline:
With the heaviest of hearts, Deputy US Marshal Jack Carter made the slow road back home from the Canadian Border with his daughter, Zoe, in tow. When he'd received that call from her beyond frustrated mother that their daughter had run away again, this time to premptively escape the draft that would not apply for another four years...he couldn't have been more worried, and when he'd finally caught up to her, just shy of the border more furious. It was all he could do to not lose his composure in front of his little girl, so when the freak accident that brought him to stop in Eureka, Michigan, he found a case to keep himself preoccupied in the face of his crumbling life...if only things hadn't grown more complicated from there. Now, here he was, in charge of the security of Eureka, Michigan, part of a series of successors sites to Los Alamos, towns operated by government contractors such as Massive Dynamics and overseen by the US Department of Defense.

With only his wits and everyman know-how, Sheriff Jack Carter stands as the last line of sanity against a town of brilliant minds who can never seem to ask why, even as we (the audience) step into this thrilling prequel series set before Cyberpunk's timeline. Witness the birth of groundbreaking technologies, unravel corporate conspiracies, and explore the moral dilemmas that helped shape the cybernetic future we know today.

Synopsis:

They must navigate the treacherous waters of corporate greed, government surveillance, and the dark underbelly of the city's criminal underworld.

Each episode of Eureka presents a thrilling blend of cutting-edge science, cybernetic enhancements, and thought-provoking moral dilemmas. Viewers will experience the rise of advanced cybernetics, AI, and other futuristic technologies that define the Cyberpunk universe. The show explores the ethical implications of these advancements and delves into the personal struggles faced by its characters as they grapple with the choices they must make.

Eureka would boast a diverse and compelling ensemble cast, featuring brilliant scientists, rogue hackers, corporate operatives, and street-level rebels. The characters' personal journeys intertwine with the larger narrative, as they strive to uncover the truth behind Eureka's dark secrets and protect their loved ones from the growing dangers that threaten to consume the city.

With its blend of thrilling mysteries, cutting-edge technology, and morally complex storytelling, Eureka offers a captivating, if somewhat light hearted, take on the Cyberpunk universe. And There Is Victory in Strength… and Family Turn 65 Results (December 1978-January 1979

-[X]The Master: Akira Kurasawa smiled as he looked at you and George. "<Well then, I have become a Rounin to two worthy masters>" DC:0 Rolled:D100 => 55

The old master sat at the table, away from you, Mike, and George. He had been sitting there for several minutes now, not even giving Mike a chance to speak to him. But when you arrived, there was a smile. And then he spoke. "<The One without Art… Leave.>" He then pointed to Mike, and you knew what he wanted.

"Mike uh… he wants to speak to us…" Mike was confused. "Only us."

Mike was perplexed. "Why?"

"Because he doesn't see you as an equal." You replied. And that was… well how you interpreted it. Kurasawa was now possibly, one of the most legendary directors alive, now sitting at your table. The man who had, quite literally become, according to critics in America, one of the greatest directors alive.

Yet he viewed you and George as equals. Mike then nodded. "This better be worth it."

After Mike shut the door, the old director was quiet, taking a moment to look at the tea he had prepared. He then took a sip and smiled in contentment. "<I am here because you saved my life.>" He said. "<I am in a debt that I cannot pay.>"

"Kurasawa-Sensei… Uh." George was not the linguist that you were but he was fumbling his words. "Bruce help."

"What do you want me to say?"

"<What is it you need from me, and I will do my best to help you.>" A Smile rose on his face as he said those words. "<You have heard my wish to create a great film, a Shakespearean Epic.>"

That earned a smile from you. "<So I have heard. King Lear?>" You asked.

Kurasawa smiled. "And so much more." He said in English, struggling to say the words. But he was full of emotion.

George was confused. "Um."

You bowed your head to Kurasawa. "<Thank you. We welcome you to our company with the open arms that drove you away.>"

Reward: Akira Kurasawa has joined Lucasfilms for now. He wishes to use the resources you have to create the Epics of Shakespeare that he always wanted to do, but was never able to."

In the next turn, you may give him a budget to begin production of a film that wanted to make but was forced to leave behind. Kagemusha.

He needs tens of millions to finish the film and get the rights from Toho and will be working on it at the same time as you are filming Empire.

George will also be working on the film with Mike.

Something tells you that he has a bone to pick and wants to make sure this film is the cudgel that he will use to make himself so much more than what Toho created.

DC: 30 (Mike will give a budget) Rolled:D100 => 100

John began his War film with ten million and a promise not fuck everything up and ruin everything in San Francisco.

But then he did something incredibly stupid. He took a camera, a crew, and anyone dumb enough to follow him to get real footage.

John… John.

Reward: While also creating Red Dawn, John has gone Rouge with a guilty conscience, and has begun filming documentary films of the Romanian Revolution, learning from the people on the ground of what they are doing…

Um, John is safe, and will be back soon in a month or two to get production going, but… Goodness gracious, he's going for accuracy.

LucasTV…

"George, I'm starting to think that you are a narcissist for naming everything after you?" You asked.

George frowned. "Really? Coming from the guy who punches reporters who come close to him when you walk to the office?"

Fair enough. "You know what, fair enough." You looked at the room that was now the TV headquarters. "Who's going to run this place?"

George shrugged. "Eh."

Reward: LucasTV has been made. You can now begin producing TV shows. Though you may need someone to run this place. Eventually.

-[X]Brandon Needs to Graduate, Part 3: Brandon. Guess what, I'm going to get you through accelerated classes. Good luck. DC: ??? Rolled:D100 => 67

Brandon was never the brightest, and you knew it. But hey… He was going to graduate high school in a year if you had anything to say about it.

He was just more focused on what he wanted. Like… martial arts, acting…

Being a pain in the ass sometimes when he decides to carry Mary around in the Dragon costume because she thinks she can fly.

Things like that.

Reward: Brandon continues to bring about his own high school thing… but the thing is, he's actually doing better. Better than anything actually, because he finds himself under the watchful eye of not Carrie… but Mary.

And her Dragon outfit.
-----------------------------------

-[X]Is there Something you want to say: Brandon looks at you, and you are honestly surprised when he sits down next to you. DC: 30 Rolled:D100 => 96

You had set Mary to sleep, when you looked at Brandon, sitting by your pool, his toes in the water, as he watched the skyline of the city burn with light. He was watching… and then he asked. "Bruce, could you… sit with me?"

You nodded, realizing the young man had something on his mind, and there was going to be something said. "Alright." You sat down cross-legged next to him, and felt something rub against you.

Ginger was seemingly playing referee between the two of you as if she was ready to stop anything. But instead, you scratched her ears, and she purred. And Brandon saw you were giving him your undivided attention. "I'm sorry-"

"If it's about the photo and how you broke into my house, I already forgave you." You gave a smile. "But that's not what you want to talk about, isn't it?"

Brandon curled up into a ball. "Mom doesn't really know what I want?"

"You are young, you shouldn't know what you want, not entirely. That isn't something that should cause you to lose sleep." You chuckled.

"I wanna be an actor like Dad." his whisper was almost impossible to hear, yet you did hear it.

"And how does that help you?" You asked.

"Help me?" He asked.

"Why do you want to do that, when you are smart enough, strong enough, and more importantly, driven enough, to do whatever you want." You asked. "Why do something that is akin to chasing his ghost?"

Brandon then blurted. "Aren't you chasing his ghost?"

You shook your head. "I accepted he died because if I didn't, it would have made my life worse. He isn't a ghost that I follow. Nor is he yours" You looked deeply into his eyes. "He's a companion whose advice and lessons guide you, always by your side when you need it…" You paused. "He became something that I look back on with pride, happiness, and contentment, knowing that I am doing my best. And I think that is what he would want to do. To be happy… not chasing his ghost… but to accept that it can be better."

And that he would be proud of you, just the way you are. But those words remained quiet. "Think about what you want, really, before you choose what you want. Because what path you want, and then go after it with all your heart."

Reward: You and Brandon talk, and Brandon will grow wiser with you.

Unknown, Positive effect on Brandon Lee.

All rolls with Brandon now gain a +10.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
-[X]There is Training: So Brandon, you have been taught by many of Bruce's Other students, well time to see if you're ready to learn from… you. DC:20/??? Rolled:D100 => 92
-[X]Fighting for Fame and Fortune: The LA Winter Martial arts Tournament is coming, and Brandon wants to fight in it. So, you're going to prepare for him to win. DC: ??? Rolled:D100 => 93

When the Tournament came, Brandon dominated the competition in such a way that some people nicknamed him the Dragon… one of his father's many nicknames, something that infuriated him even more.

But it also drove him to be better… and honestly, it was just something fun. Brandon didn't have to like it, but he won because he trained well… and everyone was happy to see him win.

And after he won, it seemed all the world seemed to start to notice him.

Reward: Brandon is now becoming far more comfortable with training, and his training is clearly making him stronger, and faster.

But also wiser and far more confident, and mature than he was before.

-[X]Calling You're Parents: You are going to call your parents and see what they want. DC: 10 Rolled:D100 => 56

Dad was at the door… rather you were at his?

"Wait, Dad, you're here in-"

Your father hugged you with a great big smile. "Yep. The Jumping Whale is expanding. And I'm in back in town to not only make sure my Bar is running smoothly, but also because I want to…" there was a pause. "I'm getting back into acting again?"

That surprised you. "Wait really? I thought after Five Dates-"

"Your mother wants me to not go off adventuring anymore, and thinks that Hollywood is far safer than… anywhere else?"

You laughed. "Dad, she does know it's Hollywood?"

"Eh, I'll be fine. Clint owes me a favor and I'm working on his new Dirty Harry film." He then laughed. "Come on kid, I'll get you a beer."

Your father then led you through the Jumping Whale. "What's mom think about this?"

"Oh your mother raised hell and took away my passport, so I can't leave the country." he smiled. "Also, I wanted to stay out of New York for a while, Donnie is trying to get me to do something so he can do it better to make himself look better, and the true New Yorker."

True New Yorker. "Dad, what have you been doing while I've been here?"

"Fixing potholes, ending some gang violence. Charity work, mercenary business, and fighting for freedom and liberty in Revolutionary Romania before a Russian General threatened to kill me. Things like that. I can't believe Don stole my idea of fixing the potholes in the city. Really pisses me off he did that. They even call him the 'Do it All Don' Even though he filled only one himself because he paid people to do it."

You shouldn't have asked. "I'm going to need whisky to hear this."

Reward: Joseph is in town, and founding a new Jumping Whale… and is forbidden from leaving the country by your mother.

You got drunk hearing your father's insane stories.

-[X]Networking: Well time to start finding out who might actually be interested in meeting you. (Write-in what you want to try and network with)
--[X] Harold Ramis. A writer famous for his work with National Lampoon, you've heard on the grapevine that Ramis is shopping a script of his of a golf sports comedy and he wants to be the Director. Meet with Harold and try secure funding and distribution of it as a Lucasfilms movie. Rolled:D100 => 9

You were beaten to Harold by… Universal.

You swear that bastard Sid had a goddamn spy in your office, and you need to find him!

Failure.
---------------------------------------------------

--[X] Steven Lisberger and Donald Kushner. Lisberger and Kushner are two rookies to the Hollywood game who are trying and failing to pitch a very ambitious film called Tron. Apparently it's supposed to mix live action and animation with the story being about a man sucked into a computer. Not only does this sound like a goldmine for Pixar, but the two guys remind you very much of you and George. Set up a meeting with the two and see if you can fund and distribute Tron as a Lucasfilms movie. Rolled:D100 => 56

But it seems Lisberger and Kushner came to you.

"We-" Steven started.

But you knew everything already. You were the one that called the meeting. "Gentlemen, I'm not going to beat around the bush. We're making this movie. How much do you need?"

They had jaws dropped. "Um… the technology that we're proposing… doesn't exist?"

You smiled. "Oh, it exists. It's called Pixar."

At that, you had their attention, and they said. "Lots of money."

"We have money gentlemen… the question is… do you have a story worth telling?"

Reward: Tron can now be produced… in 4 months.

AN: enjoy.

Swear to God, if we upturn a third European country's government...

Swear to God, if we upturn a third European country's government...
No... hes just going to make Red Dawn into what crazy conservatives in America think it is.

A training tool for guerrilla warfare against the soviet invasion, in addition to being a kickass action movie. :V

I'm not going to make another nation fall into revolution... not now.

Edit: Red dawn is actually a really fun movie. Honestly.

Fuckin Sydney! he's going to get the Ghostbusters at this rate! At least we got Tron...and the TV studio...and Red Dawn...and Akira Kurosawa...

...What was I complaining about again?

Oh well, everything seems fine, though that 10 million budget for Red Dawn seems a bit small. In OTL it ballooned to 18 million, and they were just doing it in America, setting it in a small town in Colorado.

Edit: Red dawn is actually a really fun movie. Honestly.
It is! Aside form it being set in a small town and sometimes thinking the sets (or location) seems a bit too fake, it is a very emotive, well paced, and fun movie with the script they have. I just hope this one can be much better.

WOLVERINES!

John Milnus really is a crazy bastard for picking up a camera and asking which ones of the crew want to follow him into a war zone. Any TV channel would probably be really interested in those war documentaries.

I'm guessing Red Dawn is going to be more urban combat than hiding out in the countryside.

Overall pretty solid turn. Failures were pretty minor, we're still on good terms with the Lees, nothing missed for game show, and Caddyshack is still being made while we are making Tron. Can always make something else with Ramis and our opponents need some Ws to keep up with our sheer awesomeness. Bradon is shaping up to be a good man and we got some nice bonding with Papa Goose with him and presumably Sarah in town to celebrate Mary's first Christmas and birthday.

As for Red Dawn, damn John "Madlad" Milnius sure went all out in making the movie authentic. Hopefully this can lend some support to the Romanian cause and it looks like I may need to start writing Gundam Freedom. Also I would much rather have the film take place in Alaska than San Francisco. It is the most realistic path of invasion without wanking the Soviets too much or making America too weak. We could set it in Juneau for some decent urban stuff and also provide an explanation for how the guerilla war keeps on going thanks to hundreds of miles of frozen tundra and forests to cover the heroes tracks. Although California freedom fighters can work, hope we can keep the same cast.

I'm going to be absolutely shameless and say we crib some scenes from MW2 and MW3 to add into Red Dawn. (World in Conflict is also another good source.)

Just imagine, an all out warfare, door clearing action in the New York City in both over and underground surface.

That scenario is going to make some military theorists drink themselves if they're asked to invade such a location.

Alright, should we try to get a proper legal department to get bonuses for negotiations and other legal aspects of the job, or do we already have that? If we don't, then we should properly establish that department so that another Toho situation doesn't happen.

You know, the "Spy in the Office" does make for a great omake prompt that could net universal some maluses....
