Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

We should make Red Dawn actually realistic because then the USA government would use it to better defend themselves if the Soviets do land attack them
Honestly in a case on an actual invasion, it would be hell to make work, in no small part because of the lots of water between the US and any major power.
Then there is the insane ammount of guns just lying around, combined with the US having the biggest military budget in the world and insane size and field variety.

At least Red dawn is limited in shown scope, meaning the most relevant is the existence of the US navy and hellish logistics. With the scale being more of a background thing, and the US army's level of involvement could vary, possibly including having all non-reservists being tied up in another conflict that was started as a sort of distraction.

Edit: And number of guns.

Buying all of it like that would be way too much metagaming I think. Maybe a bit less lol
Well, It is not that much metagaming...George is developing lots and lots of projects using digital technology (digital cameras, Pixar, CGI...) and it makes sense wanting to get the most innovative computer development company out there (besides Arpanet, but good luck buying that) under our wing...

If we really want to go Full Metagaming we should buy stock from M&T, Microsoft, or Walmart instead.
Would 51% be too much for you? If that's too much we can probably 'own' 30% to 49% of Apple and still be in a very commanding position. Like for example Elon Musk owns 12.95% of Tesla and as the biggest owner he has a lot of power in the company. Though keep in mind that with Magoose dice we still can be totally f*cked over with a bad dice roll.
Nah, I'm perfectly fine with 51%.
TBH I personally favor buying it whole before the OTI by making an offer they cannot refuse by paying 150-200 million dollars.

I like the idea of fully owning Apple but I'm worried about scaring away the Steves and having it potentially bite us in the ass later along with Gavin's reaction. The dude's already jealous of us and it might cause problems. If those could be mitigated tho the plan would have my full support

That is why I consider that networking with them and build rapport with them before doing anything regarding the sale is very important...

That way it will be much less likely that the talent will leave the company when we buy them and we won't end up with an Atari scenario.

Fortunately we have until December of 1980 to do it, so it is not like we are in a hurry, but we should not forget about it either.

Steves and having it potentially bite us in the ass later along with Gavin's reaction.
Steve woz is a introverted nerd who would be happy if he can work in peace and not be screwed by suits.
Steve Jobs is an egocentric narcisistic nutjob, if we can promise him the postion of CEO and give him large autonomy to do as he please within reason and nudge him to work with LucasFilm it should be fine. The reason he left OTL was due to him being kicked out by the then CEO.
Gavin sinds he's an OC IDK, I say give him large autonomy to create software and explain to him we need his help because the future is in computers but we don't know jack about computers and Lucas is only one man.

Yeah... Steve Jobs was a total asshole, but he had good ideas for products and could sell ice cubes in Greenland... So we better keep him.

Only about two more turns before the Gang of four Jumps ship from Atari. And a single year before Atari finds their own games competing with outside companies developing games for their system.

The Detroit Saga
Deus Ex: Machina (a R. Talsorian Cyberpunk Story): by Mike Pondsmith and Dave Alistair [ Novel / TV Show | Cyberpunk / Thriller ]
The Detroit Saga: by Mike Pondsmith and Dave Alistair [ Novel / Videogame | Cyberpunk / Conspiracy Fiction (Action RPG / Stealth) ]
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (a R. Talsorian Cyberpunk Story): [~Q1 2023]
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (a R. Talsorian Cyberpunk Story): [~Q3 2025]

Background:
In the year 2023, the world is a dark and dangerous place, where Megacorporations rule with an iron fist, cybernetic augmentations are commonplace, and society is divided between the haves and the have-nots. In both games, players assume the role of Adam Jensen, a skilled cybernetically-enhanced operative working as Sarif Industries' Head of Security. Although artificial intelligence existed long before the 21st century, the first "true" AI was developed by Microtech in their Californian Sunnyvale facility in 2008. By 2019, artificial intelligences had found use in education as watchdogs for virtual schooling students to prevent interference from outside forces, as well as revolutionizing the United States Supreme Court, specifically by assisting the five Justices, and lower levels of the American legal system, and by the year 2023, the most common form of AIs are the CyberLife's popular Android models.

Main Perspectives:
- Adam Jensen [Playable: HR, MD]
- The Machine [Playable: N/A]
- Markus (RK200 Android) [Playable: HR, MD]
- Connor (RK800 Android) [Playable: MD]
- Kara (AX400 Android) [Playable: MD]

Plot:
Adam Jensen, a former SWAT squad leader in Detroit, finds himself caught in a web of conspiracy and intrigue in the cyberpunk world of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. After refusing to follow a questionable order, he is ousted from his position and takes on a job as a security manager at Sarif Industries, a cutting-edge augmentation technology company. Megan Reed, a researcher and Adam's ex-girlfriend, works alongside him, while David Sarif, the CEO, becomes a pivotal figure in Adam's life after saving him from near-death.

As the story unfolds, Adam embarks on missions that take him to various locations, including Detroit, Montreal, Night City, Prague, and a rebuilt Hong Kong, the city having been forced to build from the ground up following a devastating earthquake. Along the way, he encounters a cast of key characters who shape his journey. These include Faridah Malik, Sarif's chief pilot; Frank Pritchard, a Sarif systems engineer; Eliza Cassan, the iconic face of Picus Communications; William Taggart, the founder of Humanity Front, an anti-augmentation group; Hugh Darrow, the brilliant but non-augmented creator of augmentation technology; Elijah Kamski, the enigmatic founder of CyberLife and inventor of androids; Zhao Yun Ru, the CEO of the Kang Tao megacorporation, and the formidable mercenary squad known as the "Tyrants," led by Adam Smasher and accompanied by Lawrence Barrett and Yelena Fedorova.

Adam's encounters with these characters and their respective motivations propel the narrative forward, blurring the lines between loyalty, betrayal, and the ethical implications of human augmentation. As he unravels the secrets and machinations of powerful entities, Adam must make choices that will determine the course of the revolution brewing within society, challenging his own beliefs and reshaping the future of humanity in a world where technology blurs the boundaries of what it means to be human.

The sequel, Mankind Divided, delves into the aftermath of the DataKrash, a catastrophic event that occurred alongside the Aug Incident. This incident resulted in the destruction of the Old Net and the emergence of numerous rogue AIs. These rogue AIs originated from military-grade AIs that were liberated by Rache Bartmoss's R.A.B.I.D.S. virus and subsequently mutated into highly dangerous entities. To address the threat posed by the rogue AIs, NetWatch developed a new AI called the Blackwall. The Blackwall effectively isolated contaminated sections of the Net using Black ICE. However, ongoing monitoring reveals that the rogue AIs trapped on the other side continuously test the Blackwall for vulnerabilities and attempt to breach it. Rumors persist that the very AIs posing a threat aided NetWatch in constructing the Blackwall initially. In this context, the majority of AIs, particularly CyberLife's Androids, have become targets of persecution. Increasing restrictions on their way of life intensify the existing tensions.

A/N: If it wasn't made clear, the Illuminati managed to, by the skin of their teeth, orchestrate a propaganda and disinformation campaign that pinned the blame on Bartmoss and the AI...and that having Adam Smasher lead the Tyrants was mostly an excuse to ensure that "Adambowl" happened. Also, depending on player choices (by way of save file import ala Mass Effect), by the time of the second game Adam is an agent of the Machine given his unique situation and knowledge base.

The following is irrelevant, but might prove interesting down the road:
Originally, I also wanted to hint that Adam Jensen is an Arasaka American gaijin bastard child (on account that, in the actual game, it's revealed Adam was a genetic experiment from an unknown parentage) but was unsure of how to fit that on the timeline on account that the only canonical event that might have resulted in that only happens this decade when Michiko Arasaka and Adam Smasher have a...fun weekend, so the idea was scrapped for the time being.

[EDIT: Fixed some grammatical errors. For the inconvenience, enjoy Vegeta on karaoke night.]

TV Pitch: Are you Afraid of the Dark?
I grew up with, and loved this show from the moment I first saw it. Of course, I had to watch it out of order because that's how they showed it her, but I could still enjoy it thanks to the anthology style they had, and since every single story was its own. It was amazing how well written and original most of the tales told were, and the drama between the members of the Midnight Society was sometimes as entertaining as the stories themselves. I remember sometimes waiting with baited breath for the end of the story told so I could know what happens with the kids afterwards and see their reactions.

Seeing as we have a new TV Station in development, and most of our pitches for TV shows tend to go more for Science Fiction or Fantasy, I felt that a good Horror show might just be what we need, and one that can draw in the teenagers as well. While not as hard hitting as The Twilight Zone, it is still a good show, with good messages, and a dose of horror and terror that will be enjoyed by anyone and everyone. Unlike before I have not added a Showrunner or Composer, as I feel that it is not completely necessary for this kind of show. We can have one of our producers (when we get one) or perhaps one of our directors look after them.

So, submitted for the approval of An Actor Quest, I call this Pitch:

TV Pitch:
Are you Afraid of the Dark?

GENRE: Horror/Fantasy

SUBGENRE: Suspense/Drama

FORMAT: Anthology TV Show

Set Up: A Horror Anthology TV Series that revolves around a group of teenagers who refer to themselves as "The Midnight Society". Every episode, at a secret location in the woods at night, one member would tell a scary story to the group. The actual story, rather than the telling, will be displayed to the television viewer. The story is shown between the group's arrival at the site and their departure. Each storyteller will begin their story by saying "Submitted for the approval of The Midnight Society, I call this story '(story name)'", at which point they will toss a handful of "midnight dust" (Which will be decided later) from a leather pouch into a campfire to heighten the flames and produce an eerie white smoke.

Gary: The founder and first member of the "Midnight Society". An unassuming, bookish-looking boy, he has a distinct fascination with magic, especially, the magician Houdini. He has a younger brother, and he's scared of heights. His stories tend to be about magical or cursed objects and how misuse of them can have dangerous effects.

Ben: He is a quiet boy with a mysterious expression. He is mostly shy, sensitive, and introverted in nature. Despite that he is still able to stand up for himself is the need arrives for it. He also has a crush on Carrie, though he tries to hide it as best as he can. His stories tend to be about the evil of past events left unresolved, or the consequences of not dealing with the evil inside people.

Carrie: She is a girl who, though squeamish about much else, has a fondness for ghost stories and fairy tales. She is shown to be scared of clowns and has a growing crush on Ben. She also likes to dress up for her stories or bring something for effect, sometimes to scare the others with. Her stories are about ghosts who have unfinished business in our world and use mortals to complete their tasks.

Nathan: He is Gary's younger brother, brought in after a few episodes due to their mother demanding Gary do so. Often portrayed as a youthfully obnoxious little brother at first, he eventually matures a bit and becomes friends with the rest of the group. His stories tend to involve friendships or family relationship that are at first sour, but grow stronger in the face of adversity, involving also folklore or myths.

Jessie: She is a vibrant girl who has an open and eager passion for the bizarre and twisted. She is also claustrophobic and is also noted by Gary that she tells really weird stories, which tend to be about the supernatural forces such as zombies, ghosts, etc.. Most of the time, these forces try to break into the characters' world or attempt to drag the main character into their own. They also tend to have ambiguous endings.

Allie: She is a spunky, tomboyish girl who often makes fun of others. She is good friends with most of the members especially Gary and Jack. She's a member of the basketball team at school, and quite athletic as well. Her stories tend to be about the danger of carelessness or deceitfulness, or the danger of history repeating itself.

Jack: He is a punkish teenager with an aggressive attitude. The first episode of the series has him attempting to impress the Midnight Society with a story to be allowed membership, which he does. He has a tough personality and gets along best with Gary and Allie, though he is not on the best terms with Nathan. There's no theme in his stories, but most of them have the recurring character of Dr. Vink appearing as the villain.
Dr Vink: He is a physically imposing man who would often appear as a mad scientist, sorcerer and the like. When he enters, he introduces himself by saying, "Vink's the name. Dr. Vink." Dr. Vink seems like a genie that grants what people want, but he leaves them to the consequences until the end where he once more shows to either help, or benefit from them.

Played By: Aron Tager

Sardo: He is a supposed magician and owner of Sardo's Magic Mansion. He is strangely unaware that many of the items in his store are really magical, and this often leads to the problem in the story. Often clueless and kind of a braggart, he seems to be somewhat aware that magic is real, but also really lacking in both knowledge and power.

Played By: Richard Dumont

Zeebo the Clown: Is a supposed spirit of an old clown/criminal that haunts an old carnival exhibits and has a propensity for good cigars. Often appearing to those who make fun of him, or those who try and dare to cross him because of some bravery test. Zeebo is not one to hold grudges...provided the right amount of tribute is given to him.

Played By: Aron Tager

A.N.: Unlike many of my previous Pitches I don't think I can put (or should put) any actors for the roles as I feel that this TV show would work much better if we get new and fresh actors that organically grow through the series. Furthermore, since the series is an anthology, we could give opportunities for up-and-coming actors to appear and obtain both experience and screen time that they would otherwise not get in other more established shows. The only exception are the recurring characters, and that's mostly because I can see no other actors playing them as well as said actors can.

Yeah I'm completely down for this. God I can't wait for Halloween in a couple more weeks.

As to the topic of Apple, I think it's better to buy the stock before IPO. Those with connections or with a large amount of institutional money can usually invest before a company becomes public and at a lower share than what is offered to the public. That is actually part of the investment- that you can immediately sell for a massive profit once it becomes public if you want to.

I would not be in favor of getting a majority as I don't want Bruce to actually have to run Apple. Instead, I want enough so that he could be on the board to support Steve, Woz, and Gavin. And, to get the sweet, sweet dividends and stock splits. We can then use the dividends to invest more or to do charity.

I am controlling myself to not do anything silly and it is very hard.

Hopefully production of Star Wars alleviates that stuff.

So…
Did I do something crazy?

No.

Did I want to?

Oh fuck yes I did.
I am controlling myself to not do anything silly and it is very hard.

Hopefully production of Star Wars alleviates that stuff.
And we all thank you for that self-control...

This is the sort of quest that benefits if things remain somehow grounded and consistent...

As cool as it would be to have Bruce fighting against an alien champion for the fate of the Earth, like Superman and Ali did on their day it would be too over the top for the setting :V

So let's see what Brandon chooses:

D6 => 1 = 1

Well like father like son

This is going to be interesting to say the least.

So I actually have, for the first time in a long time, an omake challenge for you all:

Brandon Lee deciding to become an actor and taking his fathers advice, as well as Bruce's to heart.

Out of curiosity, what were the other possibilities? I assume one would be pursuing martial arts full time, but what about the others?
Being normal and not trying to live up to Bruce, being an adventurer like Joseph (with all the chaos that implies), full on martial artist, others that I won't tell for reasons that come on later.

An impossible challenge :p
Why, Christoph Waltz was incredible in his first scene in that movie (the one in the club with James Franco)... then I stopped watching because it wasn't interesting.

Anyway, I want to make Brandon an Hollywood action star of the late 80s and early 90s and I'm currently thinking about some sort of generic action movie pitch that could be decent enough.

So I was also thinking that in terms of the special effects department we can also set sections that work completely on animatronics and puppets as well as a different sections that works on models (in the past models were used a lot for shots).

On another note, I agree with buying Apple. Sounds like a good idea to not only help to create the ultimate Mac computer, but also to improve computer animation.

Another extremely solid investment is Hasbro, because the 70s oil crisis hit them like a truck (the plastic became too expensive) and now they are in a massive debt and they have had to cancel dividends for a couple of years, so we can get them for cheap (they are like 22 cents per share this year)

And seeing how fucking profitable merchandising sales are on this quest... I would rather avoid paying the middleman...

Well, we already have a deal with them so a partnership, or partial ownership, would work for the best in my opinion. Perhaps if we give them the idea for He-Man as well we could get to own said franchise before Mattel tries it.
