Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

Hey guys, at this moment in time, Steven Lisberger, Alan Kay and Bonnie MacBird are trying to get people intereste in their new idea. An idea that started as a concept for an animated film, but now they think it can be done with the rudimentary CGI currwntly in existance. An idea that could be greatly enhanced if used with our new film and CGI developements.

They call it Tron.

We could be the Executive Producer and bring another profitable Franchise to Lucasfilms (or at least a succesful film). And really, what better way to showcase our superior Filmmaking technology than Tron.

I'm down, so long as we also try and get Friday the 13th, which should be shopped around soon.

...I wonder if we can use Apple Offices to portray ENCOM.

Also, I hope we can get the music to a point it's a stellar inspiration.
We could use some references or expies to better insinuate it's them. And we can try and see if we can add some changes as well, perhaps adding some more philosophical concepts about existance and life as Flynn has basically discovered an entire civilization built around humans as their "Gods" in some way. That is going to be shocking as hell. We could also have Flynn do something of a "Hero's Journey" to show growth in the character and make him one of the protagonists that earn their spot.

The music is amazing, and we need the guy who compossed it to work for us.

Say, what do you think are the chances that Jim Henson comes to us for his "Dark Crystal" film? If I recall correctly, one of the main reasons it failed was poor marketing, which Mike will never allow it to happen. Then again, he also never added any subtitles which basically killed the movie as it was freaking confusing. I remember the first time I saw it as a child, and I couldn't get past the first scene as I was not sure what the hell was going on.

no comment.

Though I am going to say this.

You should see the Superman Film quality now... damn. I mean, damn.
I like the idea that our competition is formidable, but I kinda also dislike that they seem to always be biting at our heels rather than being a clear second place.

At least we know we have the edge when it comes to film quality, no way they managed to do the same as George did.

Universal is still the top dog, if I'm not mistaken. And they are looking to be in good form with Napeoleon.

Columbia was given the opportunity for DC comics and it looks like it's going to pay off. Not sure why we will be helping out our competition by trying to make a kickass Batman (or are they doing the Adam West version since this is pre- Dark Knight Returns). But, they will be a serious rival if the Superman movie is as big as it seems to be.

Not sure why Eisner is already seeking a challenge- it's only been a few years at Lucasfilm and it has constantly been changing. But, curious to see what he wants.

Edit: @Magoose can we fund an expansion to Distribution to allow for automatic film distribution without taking an action? If so, how much would it cost?

Colombia Pictures presents Jonah Hex
A/N: I am not familiar with many Native American actors from this time period, a lot of the ones I am familiar with are from later in the 80's to the 90's, so trying to cast everyone here theoretically didn't feel right since I couldn't confidently cast the main antagonist. But do be known, Clint Eastwood is the main guy I'm gunning for as Hex.

Colombia Pictures presents
Jonah Hex

Jonah Hex is falsely accused of robbing a town store and taken to the local sheriff's office, where it was revealed to be a ruse so that the U.S. Special Agent Landon Could could enlist Hex's help in taking down a Mexican bandido by the name of El Papagayo that the government itself cannot be directly be involved in. Hex agrees for a large sum of money, and is able to gain Papagayo's trust after showing up with a wagon full of Army weapons Hex got from Could. It gets revealed the weapons don't work though and that Could set him up, and Hex has to shoot his way out of Mexico in order to survive.

Once he makes it back to the States, Hex finds out that he's been framed for the murder of the Sheriff and his Deputies, actions that were pinned on him by the actual murderer who was Could who turns out isn't a Special Agent but working for some man in the shadows with a golden eagle head topped cane. Hex has to try and survive across as he's hunted and eventually shot, where he comes across a cabin in the woods owned by a blind man named Mr Jacobs and his daughter Faith. Jonah stays with them while he is healing, falling for Faith during this time, before his new home is set ablaze and he finds the true perpetrator behind his suffering.

Noh-Tante, his step-brother from the tribe that Jonah was sold to as a child and eventually adopted by the chief, has come for revenge. Both of them blame the other for what happened to the tribe, and it all comes down to a fight that ends with both of them falling off a cliff, though Jonah survives. At the end it's revealed Faith survived the fire, but she condemns Jonah and curses him to hell as he rides off.

Jonah Hex: Born in the 1800's, Hex has lived a sad, hateful, and complicated life. The man who wears the Confederate uniform yet despises slavery? The man who was raised by an Apache tribe ended up murdering them all? Saved by American cavalrymen at the age of 16 yet shot by the very same just for helping the Kiowa people? One thing is true and commonplace in Jonah Hex's life, it's been filled with HATE. From the way he walks to the mark upon his face, every moment of Jonah's existence is filled with hate. Is he a good man? Is he just as hateful and evil as those he kills? The scariest thing about Jonah, is that even after all he's been through...he's still human.

Landon Could: A man claiming to of the U.S. Secret Service who enlists Jonah's 'help' with dealing the Mexican bandido El Papagayo since the U.S. Government can't be directly involved. As we later learn that's all hogwash as he murders the Sherrif and his Deputies and pins the blame on Jonah, causing a manhunt for the marked Man. We learn that he's been working for someone else in the shadows, a man with a golden eagle head topped cane.

El Papagayo: Or in his native tongue, The Parrot, a gang leader south of the border who's been hitting U.S. outposts and gold shipments and leading a cuthroat crew that Landon claims is also looking to overthrow the current Presidente and throw Mexico into a dictatorship. Jovial man that belies just how cruel he is and how quickly he'll cut down the lives of everyone, even his own men. Takes a liking to Hex after Hex delivers a wagon full of U.S. Army guns that Hex acquired from Landon. This turns sour when the guns turn out to not work and he along with a good portion of his men are killed when Hex has to escape.

Noh-Tante: Jonah's step-brother when he was adopted by the Apache tribe his father sold him to. Noh-Tante now walks with the assistance of a cane due to the injuries suffered from Jonah. Noh-Tante, thought to be dead by Jonah this whole time, has been biding his time to get revenge on Jonah for killing his father and his tribe. This isn't meant to put Noh-Tante in the right completely though, as Jonah reveals that it was Noh-Tante killing White Fawn, a girl from the tribe that both Jonah and Noh-Tante liked, after she spurned his advances and then pinned the blame on Jonah that caused the whole mess. Noh-Tante fires back that Jonah didn't hesitate though, and that the mark on his face is just a reflection of the demon he holds inside. Noh-Tante reveals that after the massacre he sold the land to the government and used the funds in order to get his revenge on Jonah, hiring Landon and putting Jonah through the hell he's suffered through in the movie. Their fight, which is the climax of the movie, moves on through gun fighting, fist fighting, before ending in a Tomahawk battle near the edge of a cliff where both eventually fall over. Though in the end it's Jonah who walks away.

Sheriff Baxter: Sheriff who took Jonah in under false pretenses in order for the town not to realize that Landon Could needed his assistance. Is murdered by Landon to put the blame on Jonah.

Tiny: A large and imposing, yet simple, man who is one of Baxter's deputies and easily man handles Jonah at the beginning. His large size just makes him a easier target for Landon though.

Mr. Jacobs: An old blind man that lives out of the way with his only daughter that Jonah comes do after suffering a serious injury after being hunted by other bounty hunters for the deaths of Sheriff Baxter and his men. Jacobs is a man who preeches that violence begets violence and that all men should turn the other cheek, which Jonah obviously disagrees with. He finds out that Jonah is who he is after some local law come by asking about him, but believes that Jonah doesn't have complete evil inside him. Is killed near the climax when Noh-Tante sets fire to his house.

Faith: Jacobs' daughter and all around sweet young woman. She's hesitant of Jonah at first due to knowing about his wanted status but begins to slowly fall for him as she cares for him. She is in the house with her father when it is set ablaze and initialy thought to have died with him, but after the battle with Noh-Tante Jonah finds her still alive and her feelings for him have turned 180. She despises Hex, calling him a demon and cursing him for ever gracing her families door step, which Hex doesn't argue with and it's her crying in front of the burnt remains of her family home as Hex rides off that closes off the film.

I understand how plot bunnies can implant themselves in our minds and beg to be released into the wild.

As a participant in the quest, I would like to ask those with plot bunnies:

Can we all agree to not request Omake rewards that help the antagonists/obstacles in the quest or make our plans more difficult to pull off?

Yeah sorry I gotta' agree with Schehera

No thank you. Too easy otherwise. I'm looking to have fun, not min-max.

I'm not gonna' actively choose omake rewards that would screw us over or help ruin our movies, but I also believe competition breeds creativity. We knocked out WB remember, we've already slain one giant. Not to mention we've collected a cast of industry stars and once in a life time creators, giving the competition some bonuses ain't gonna' screw us over or hurt us in any way.

Denied. Too easy otherwise. I'm looking to have fun, not min-max.

I am also looking to have fun. I just find it tremendously frustrating when people go out of their way to put obstacles up in a game. In other words: it is making the game more frustrating and less fun for some people (like me).

If you are in the mindset of "f-you. I don't care about your enjoyment, only my own." Okay- I can't do anything about it.

I was just voicing this in case people writing the omakes and choosing the rewards didn't realize how frustrating and annoying it could be for other participants.

Has anyone actually done anything like that yet though?

I do lean towards agreeing with mystery, at least in cases we're more directly involved with. I think it should take a little more consensus to do that kind of thing, even if it's a one time vote to decide policy on it.

Now because Superman is doing so well on the rolls it dosen't need a bonus, and I'm not going to give it a bonus.

I'm just going to give a +15 to SP.
I like the idea that our competition is formidable, but I kinda also dislike that they seem to always be biting at our heels rather than being a clear second place.
But they are in clear second place.

We literally have multiple films that can be the best of all time... in their respective genres, about to release in a year or two of each other.

Like I shit you not, right now, the boys have done a great job with it.

And considering the fact that most of the people we work with... pretty much are the best people in the biz at this time.

Also. you really think I am... doing everything for them.
At least we know we have the edge when it comes to film quality, no way they managed to do the same as George did.
THey can't they are too worried about making a profit, rather then pushing the industry further.

And oh boy... that will be something.

Cause they can't innovate like we do.
Not sure why Eisner is already seeking a challenge- it's only been a few years at Lucasfilm and it has constantly been changing. But, curious to see what he wants.
The thing with Mike is... we've kinda done things so well...

That he wants to do more. Like a whole helluva lot more.

Well I still plan on helping Colombia as much as possible, as they got screwed over in the original time line due to mismanagement and Sony buying them right as the Japanese Economy bubble popped.
