TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands.
To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.
I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.
I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.
I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all.
Hmm know it's another decade before they exist even as shorts. But picture a world where America favorite sitcom family the Simpsons is owned and animated by us~ 😀
So random thought but what are our chances of guest starring in Mr Rogers neighborhood? Cause that just feels very wholesome and the idea of him doing that in an episode about physical health and fitness feels very wholesome
Alright then, the first in what I hope can become a greater saga of movies about the American Experiment. I imagine this going with different point of views so that we can see how different segments of society, from both the Patriots and the British, saw the revolution, whether they sympathized with it or not, what were their reasons, and their actions which may have contributed to the end. Frankly, I enjoyed doing this; American History is one of my favorite areas of study, and it's been a while since I last read the material again.
Now, I should mention, I envisioned this as a first in a series of movies, but also one that we would start in the 90's, so when seeing the actors chosen, please remember that. Also, I do believe that these movies should touch on the uncomfortable topics (I.E. Slavery) but as the first movie I have not touched upon it yet. I figure we could add another POV and show how the British offered slaves their freedom in exchange for them fighting against the colonists, and put some discussion there. I don't want to sidestep that entire mess, but neither do I want to make the entire movie revolve around it.
Alright then, having said that I give you:
Movie Pitch: An American Saga: Rise to Rebellion GENRE: Drama/Historical
SUBGENRE: Political/War
FORMAT: Movie (Part 1 of 3)
Set Up: A historical fiction movie that tells the story of the events leading up to the American Revolution. The movie spans from the Boston Massacre to the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The events of the American Revolution are portrayed through the perspectives of multiple characters, from loyalists to revolutionaries and even those who stayed in the middle, giving their perspectives and beliefs, how they change or remain the same, as well as the actions taken by both sides as they decide whether it's better to remain loyal to the motherland, or rise against tyrants an ocean away. Friendships are tested, families are divided, and the premise of freedom and when is it necessary to bear arms is constantly questioned.
Director: Ridley Scott Composer: Alan Silvestri
John Adams: A lawyer from Massachusetts and one of the future founding fathers. John Adams is a man who believes in justice, the rights granted by British law, and those granted by the Charter of the Colony of Massachusetts. His defense of the soldiers who shot at the people during the Boston Massacre brings him renown sets him on the path of revolution in the future.
Played By: Richard Kind Alternate: Paul Giamatti
Benjamin Franklin: Postmaster General of British North America, scientist, writer, inventor, statesman, etc. Benjamin Franklin is perhaps the most famous American of the age. He has spent nearly a decade in his position championing American interests in the British sphere and denounced the crackdown on Boston. His actions caused him to be mocked and dismissed of his position by the Privy Council, and now he begins a new chapter of his life.
Played By: Joss Ackland Alternate: Gene Hackman
George Washington: A Virginia plantation owner and Colonel in the Militia. His experience in the French and Indian War tempered him, and his marriage to Martha Custis is one of the bright spots in his life. Though not an eloquent speaker, he's still a man determined to do his duty, one that never even thinks of surrendering or giving up when everything is against him.
Played By: Robin Williams Alternate: Kelsey Grammer
Abigail Adams: Wife to John Adams, his closest friend and advisor. Well-read and knowledgeable of intellectual and political matters, both she and John discussed about them at length during their long and frequent correspondence. She saw firsthand some of the earliest bellicose acts of the American Revolution, and served as a rock of support for both her husband and her children during it.
Played By: Kristine Sutherland Alternate: Jean Smart
Paul Revere: A silversmith and early industrialist from Massachusetts. Paul Revere was one of the original Sons of Liberty and a member of the Committees of Correspondence to coordinate the response against British aggression or overall commercial control. He's seen his colony go from prosperous to oppressed and he's determined to fight to make it free again.
Played By: Mel Gibson Alternate: David Boreanaz
Dr. Joseph Warren: An American Physician, and one of the most important figures for the Patriot Movement in Boston. While practicing medicine he got involved in politics, interacting with members such as John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and many leading members of the Sons of Liberty. He wrote the Suffolk Resolves to oppose Parliament' Coercive Acts, and died fighting the British at Bunker Hill.
Played By: Anthony Hopkins Alternate: Dustin Hoffman
Lieutenant-General Thomas Gage: a British Army general officer and colonial official best known for his many years of service in North America, including his role as British commander-in-chief in the early days of the American Revolution. Born to the aristocracy of England, he values loyalty and efficiency above all, finding himself disgusted with the colonial authorities when he finds none in his opinion.
Played By: Kyle MacLachlan Alternate: Jason Isaacs
Governor Thomas Hutchinson: A businessman, historian, and a prominent Loyalist politician of the Province of Massachusetts Bay in the years before the American Revolution. As the previous governor just before the occupation by the British, and the one who supported it and even encourage a harsher crackdown, he has been referred to as "the most important figure on the loyalist side in pre-Revolutionary Massachusetts".
Played By: Andy Stahl Alternate: Tom Wilkinson
Captain James Hall: Loyalist Merchant who left America during the Revolution. Before that he'd been a prosperous merchant who'd done dealings with the Province of Massachusetts for all kinds of wares and goods which the colonies could not produce by order of Parliament. Among them was tea, which was thrown overboard during the "Boston Tea Party".
Played By: Dennis Hopper Alternate: Bob Hoskins
Major John Pitcairn: A Scottish military officer, beloved by his men and was well respected by the citizens in Boston as one of the more reasonable officers in the occupying force. He fought during the battles of Lexington and Concord where he lost a horse, and met his end at the battle of Bunker Hill, where his men wept upon his death.
Played By: John Goodman Alternate: Richard Dean Anderson
Sentry Hugh White of the British Army: Just a common member of the British Soldiery, Sentry Hugh was on guard duty on the day of the Boston Massacre, and was one of the soldiers who shot against the people there. Though scared and somewhat naive, Hugh sees how the colonists truly feel about the British, and how different they are from his homeland.
Played By: James Marsters Alternate: Brendan Fraser
A.N: Though the movie would have the characters mentioned as the main point of view, that does not mean that other historical figures won't appear; Samuel Addams, Ethan Allen, William Pitt, Lord Admiral Richard Howe, Richard Knox, King George III, etc., etc., Many of these historical figures (and perhaps more) of the time will make an appearance, or at least be mentioned, during the saga of films in order to give a more through picture of what happened. This movie is set during the five years between the Boston Massacre and the Signing of the Declaration of Independence. Because of that, I see this movie being in length closer to either LotR or Avatar.
So random thought but what are our chances of guest starring in Mr Rogers neighborhood? Cause that just feels very wholesome and the idea of him doing that in an episode about physical health and fitness feels very wholesome

The Night Watch (a R. Talsorian Cyberpunk Story): by Mike Pondsmith and Dave Alistair [ Novel / MiniSeries (Animated) | Cyberpunk / Police Procedural ]
Setting:
The West Coast Mobs, including the Mafia and the Yakuza, had a stranglehold on the heavy construction industry in Coronado City, controlling the unions, transport, and government agencies responsible for building licenses and environmental regulations...and they were absolutely livid that Richard Night was going to bypass them all.
Enter Richard Night, a visionary tech entrepreneur who invested heavily in the Partnership, a consortium of corporations dedicated to building a new city using advanced building techniques and materials. The Mobs also invested in the Partnership through shell corporations, hoping to profit from the lucrative construction work and gain an inside track on future gambling, prostitution, and drug franchises in the new city.
However, Night's new building techniques excluded established unions and construction firms controlled by his organized crime partners, including Halsey, Ferris, and Skiv. Short on money, the trio had unwisely joined with the local mob, making them unhappy with Night's plans. To make matters worse, Night's insistence that his new city would be safe and crime-free angered them even more.
The first four years of construction were plagued by daily threats against Night's life. Despite being a proud and self-reliant man, Night typically ignored them. But when the threats escalated to sabotage and intimidation, he called in his corporate partners, who dealt with the issue ruthlessly.
Unfortunately, Night's luck ran out on September 20th, 1998, when he was shot and killed in his penthouse suite at the top of the newly constructed Parkview Tower. His killer was never apprehended. In his memory, the newly appointed City Council officially renamed Coronado City as "Night City" to honor his legacy.
But for now, we explore the direct aftermath of Night's assassination. A-Plot:
Human police officers are partnered with advanced artificial intelligence, called "AIs", to assist them in their daily work. The show follows the story of Detective John Kennex, who returns to duty after surviving a catastrophic attack by an unnamed criminal franchise. Kennex is then paired up with an outdated AI model, Dorian, who has been programmed to be more emotionally responsive and empathetic than other AIs.
Together, Kennex and Dorian work to solve crimes in a futuristic world where technology has advanced to a point where it has become an integral part of everyday life. They tackle various cases involving rogue robots, cyber crimes, and other futuristic threats, while also dealing with their own personal struggles and demons.
Throughout the series, Kennex and Dorian's partnership evolves as they learn to trust and rely on each other. They also face challenges from various antagonists, including the unnamed criminal franchise, and other corrupt organizations. B-Plot:
The aftermath of Night's death as Gideon Reeves, a tech billionaire, takes over a troubled Coronado Night City police precinct following the death of his friend Richard Night and the blessing of his wife, Miriam. Reeves infuses the precinct with his own cutting-edge technology and resources to fight crime in a city where danger and corruption still lurk around every corner. Exploring themes of power, corruption, and the intersection of technology and law enforcement in a world where the line between good and evil is often blurred.
1. Augmented Reality (AR) - used to enhance officers' situational awareness and provide real-time information about suspects and crime scenes.
2. Drones - used for aerial surveillance and reconnaissance, as well as to provide tactical support during high-risk operations.
3. Cybernetic implants - used to enhance officers' physical abilities and provide direct access to technology.
4. Predictive analytics - used to analyze crime data and identify patterns and trends that can help prevent crime before it happens.
5. Facial recognition - used to identify suspects and track their movements.
6. Biometric scanners - used to identify individuals based on their unique biological characteristics, such as fingerprints or retinal scans.
7. Smart guns - firearms that are linked to officers' biometric data and can only be fired by authorized users.
8. Holographic displays - used to create virtual crime scenes and provide 3D visualizations of evidence.
9. Nanobots - used to gather forensic evidence from crime scenes and analyze it on a molecular level.
10. Cybersecurity measures - used to protect the department's data and infrastructure from cyberattacks and hacking attempts.
11. Smart Phones - communications tech.
A/N: Well, was going through a list of things I've enjoyed in the past (dog had an episode last night, kept me up with worry. Don't worry he's fine) and refound the shows Almost Human and APB, which I feel could be an interesting look at future police work, especially through the lense of cyberpunk.
[]The First Step of Something More (Dave looks at the system that Mike made. "I love it")
[]The Meeting of More Strangeness (Mike, Meet Mike. Holy shit Dave, they better not kill eachother)
[]Failure and Success (One failure leads to one success)
I mean in OTL HEMA kind of started in the 60s with some historical recreation groups doing trying to get more realism in their "battles" and several experts studying and translating medieval sword manuals, but it really took off and reached mainstream appeal through the 90s...
So with promotion of an icon like Bruce I don't consider that HEMA reaching appeal a decade earlier as impossible
Woohoo! 2 ready to go! Now, we only need to try and get Treasure Planet ready for that shock and awe factor that Kaiser Chris proposed and we're in business!
We can do Treasure Planet with what we have, right? Or at least at the beginning of the 80s?
You smell that boys... Thats the smell of freedom.

All good options. But in the end, I have to go with:
[X]THe American Experiment is flawed, but it always becomes better. (Unknown Effect.)
Thw American Experiment was never a perfect creation, Benjamin Franklin himself said it at the end of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, but also that it was as good (or as perfect) as it was going to get, and as such it surprised him that a group so divided could have created a framework which would allow them to coexist peacefully while preserving the freedoms for which they fought.
It was not perfect, they were not perfect, but they made damn sure to make it as Idiot-Proof as possible. And for that, it stands among the greatest documents ever created by men.

Holy Shit these rolls are blessed and Based AF. To get a key summary of some of the absolutely glorious highlights.
Conan is going to be Nicolas Cage's debut film as a teenage Coppola. Maybe he'll stay Coppola here.
Conan is going to be Jackie Chan's Hollywood debut and we managed to repay him for saving Mike.
We're starring alongside Christopher Lloyd who is a confirmed Bruce fan.
Sarah Douglas is our love interest, AKA Ursa from Superman II
James Earl Jones reprises his role as Doom from OTL and can hopefully get redemption under Spielberg and a good enough performance to be a regular in live action.
Sophia Loren, one of Hollywood's most famous actresses is in our movie.
Beloved singer Barry White
Brian Blessed as a conniving acrobatic thief.
We haven't even started filming yet and already it's beautiful.

I do have to ask, @Magoose , Barry White gets the role for Yag Kosha, but is this a voice actor only, or will he actually have to act and move? I mean, Yag Kosha is basically a humanoid elephant, so I assume that ILM will work there to create the Special Effects needed.

That may be Bruce's opinion although it might not change thinks with Coppola. OTL, Nic asked him to get him a part for a movie when he was 15 and Francis just silently ignored him, although Nic was being a bit bratty in his request. I can imagine that when Nic heard that Bruce was making a movie he just signed up on a whim so he can get in good with Lucasfilms and debut in a O'Brian-Spielberg movie.
You know, considering her competition were two blondes, I imagine Bruce was being extremely biased in casting and picked Sarah because believes Brunettes are the best women, lol. Actually in regard to that, will Conan and Valeria's relationship contain the sexual elements of the OTL film? I can imagine not since Spielberg doesn't go that route and Bruce doesn't want to do more than kissing with anyone whose not Carrie, not to mention it's his first time having a love interest not Carrie.
Fortunately on this front it's not likely to happen as at this point in her life Sophia Loren's diva days were far behind her. Starting in the late 60's, Sophia intentionally appeared in less mainstream films and chose minor parts because she wanted to focus on being a mother and she didn't care for being an A-lister anymore. So essentially she's like an Italian Debbie.
