Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

That moment where you look at many things that have happened.

But choose to hide the biggest event because it won't be important until 1974

No no...

I want to hear this.
Well, the first three that come to mind are:

May 9, 1974: Richard Nixon becomes the first US president forced to resign after the Watergate Scandal.

July 17, 1974: IRA begins bombing campaign on mainland Britain.

Octeber 30, 1974: Rumble in the Jungle begins. Match between George Foreman and Muhammad Ali.

Well, you are wrong on all three.

It's more of an entertainment news that we're worried about. one that may affect us.

Nixon's Resignation, IRA trying to do the Blitz, George Forman vs Muhammad Ali, Stephen King Publishes "Carrie", West German FIFA World Cup, Soviets having a new Space Station, Vietnam Veteran Deserters Amnesty, A Great Recession rising the prices, African Famine, Alexander Solzhenitsyn was kicked out of the USSR with his citizenship revoked.

Added: Godfather 2 was released, Mel Brook's Movies, Chinatown (Detective story on Los Angeles Corruption of the 40s) was released, For The Love of Benji was released.

calling the vote.

All I'm going to say is this:

Oh boy am I excited about what is to come.

Adhoc vote count started by Nate700 on Mar 10, 2023 at 2:44 AM, finished with 130 posts and 20 votes.

  • [X] Plan: A Strong Foundation
-[X]Lucasfilm Unlimited (George's Idea, and considering it was the existing company… wouldn't take much to rebrand)
-[X]A New Distribution Company: Whatever this place was, it was going to try and shake up Hollywood, by doing one thing that hasn't happened, successfully, in decades. Distribute their own movies. And that was something that everyone in Hollywood laughs at because they had no money, no talent, and nothing to help them start it. (Begins a Distribution division of the company, in charge of making sure the films are distributed across the country, and the world. To start one would require an intense investment in resources, but it would also see actors and crew getting more cut of the profits, and if successful, also controlling several different assets that would either be sold off or forgotten about. Will Also show you the quality of the film itself before release.)
-[X]Special Effects Company: George, has been having an idea for a while. Something was ahead of its time, and something he noticed a lot. Where were the special effects? Where were the illusions that made the film so popular, look shooting a bullet at the moon made of cheese, or the illusionary start of trying to create something that is impossible? Most special effects companies in Hollywood wouldn't have the funds or the means to try what he wants to do… So, he wants to make his own. (George wants to create a special effects company/ Division, he calls it Industrial Lights and Magic. Add the VFX, and Special Effects Rolls to all productions under this banner, and gain a +20 to all their rolls.) (George really wants this)
-[X]Marketing Division: You want to make sure that all the films this produces, will be something that is near impossible to miss. Everyone will want to see them. And it will be without question, incredible. (Begin a Marketing Division, something that will increase audience reaction, and make the film more money… possibly)
    [X] Plan Pathetic King
-[X]Lucasfilm Unlimited (George's Idea, and considering it was the existing company… wouldn't take much to rebrand)

And he really hasn't like them that much. What he should see, is the old classics that changed the world. (Begin an animation department and can start bringing in a stable to make some crazy cool animated stuff. Any Animated Film made by this one, once fully staffed... will gain a +20 to all their rolls.)

That's almost always means some incredible happens just hoping it's the good kind.

TV Pitch: Wingmen
Prompt Name: Wingmen
Genre: Action Thriller
Sub-Genre: Adventure
Format: Animated TV Series
General Idea: Follows the adventures of John Wingman in a world where yellowstone has had enough, and he is caught up in a war between The Federation and Cascadia. Actually, it's more like a mute psychotic mercenary fighter pilot inserts himself and his band of quirky mercenaries into a major global conflict for money and giggles.

Wow, There are Now a Lot of Actions Turn 26 (Octobor 1973)
You looked at the growing pile of paperwork and realized something. It was a lot of work trying to get things set up behind the Camera then it was to do things in front of it. Sure you had written some screenplays and had been behind the scenes.

But never this kind of thing. Never this kind of paperwork.

Thankfully, you had skimmed through most of the important bits, making sure that George didn't screw you over. Not that he would ever try such a thing, but there was something that you learned about Hollywood. Always be prepared to be backstabbed or thrown under the bus.

The Lawyer George hired wasn't making anything else easier in the matter, cause you were sure that he was a temp trying to become a retainer. He didn't even really say his name, only calling himself "Mr. Lucas' Chief attorney at the moment". "I need your signature here, here, and here, and then this part of the process is done." He said assuredly as he kept moving stacks of paper around. "Then we can move onto the final bits of ownership and legal…" He then snapped his fingers. "Are you paying attention?"

"Not exactly, we've been doing this for three hours, just writing down signatures." You replied.

But all it did was make things strained and strange.

But hey, now you were part of something new. And exciting.

Reward: You are now a significant shareholder in Lucasfilms Unlimited, and as such, you are also responsible for helping George run and maintain the company and help him. However, as you have no experience in running a company, One Action per turn must be taken to make sure it runs smoothly.

George is currently spending two turns developing ILM, and that is where he is focusing all of his energies on.

Lucasfilms Unlimited Actions:
(Choose 1, or More Actions)

[]Star Wars: So George has a Script he's been working on… Something he calls, Star Wars. That's the Film he's pinning his hopes and dreams on. The problem, it's not a goddamn script. It's just a rough, ten-page outline DC: 0/20/50/60/80/100 (If you want George to develop Star Wars Naturally without your input, wait for two turns, if not you will be part of the writing process, which can lead to... changes)

[]Steering the Ship: George may be off making… ILM, or whatever it is called to pioneer special effects, and to start making the company money. So that means the Day to Day Operations are going to be up to you. For a time at least. DC: ???

[]Hireing Someone to Run the Ship: You are an Actor. George is more of a technical guy when it comes to movie-making, and is energetic about making it. You both have no fucking idea how to run a company like this. So, time to find help. DC: ???

[]Look for Investors: Not that you need the money now, but maybe you can get people on board with this idea you have. DC: ???

[]Distributing Deals: Since you have a Distribution Company, or rather, are one… You can meet the major movie theater companies and strike a Deal with them. Even when you had really nothing to offer them. DC: ???

[]Importing Foreign Films: So… you may have a way to get some films showing in American Theaters. Maybe you can go to other foreign film industries and… well, ask to distribute their films. Sure many of those foreign film companies never expected an American company to distribute their films in the US… but maybe you can get money without producing them. (Linetail where you try to get films from, and if there are any specific films, line tail them below) DC: ???

[]The Ideas of Industry: This action is meant for a write-in to act as a sort of Idea machine for the company. You must linetail what you want to do below this action. This action can be taken multiple times.

[] Do auditions(Movies and TV Shows): You are going to go to some of the casting calls that are in the place where you can find work in. DC: 20(Possibility of only getting a commercial or TV show job, or extra work in a low-budget film)

[]Modeling (High Fashion): So you got a call from a photographer in LA, some no name. But that no name works for Gucci. And he wants you on their next lineup of products. And he needs you to model for him. Which is great… one problem, you have no idea what the hell you are doing. DC: 60

AN: Enjoy.

And Plan format.

Movie Prompt Wild Days on the Acconas
Prompt Name: Wild Days on the Acconas
Genre: Western, Adventure, Action, Characterism
Sub-Genre: Spaghetti Western, Deconstruction and Reconstruction
Format: Movie
General Idea: The movie follows the life of the bar pianist as he goes on to live in the town of Turbucoloi. He lives through the typical times of the sheriffs and outlaws and those who attempt to cause a ruckus in the bar. It was until he was held hostage and at the same time kidnapped that his true Wild Days on the Acconas could begin. This film is focusing upon the ridiculousness of the cheap and typical showings of Western Movies in general and instead places emphasis on a Character's journey, character, integrity, and a sense of true adventure and discovery. (Furthermore is to be discussed later when this is picked)

[]Star Wars: So George has a Script he's been working on… Something he calls, Star Wars. That's the Film he's pinning his hopes and dreams on. The problem, it's not a goddamn script. It's just a rough, ten-page outline DC: 0/20/50/60/80/100 (If you want George to develop Star Wars Naturally without your input, wait for two turns, if not you will be part of the writing process, which can lead to... changes)
I think we should pick this one, as much as I respect Lucas as a storyteller and director, he works much better when he is part of a team who can help him with his shortcomings... (Just take a look at some the dialogue of the prequels)

[]Star Wars: So George has a Script he's been working on… Something he calls, Star Wars. That's the Film he's pinning his hopes and dreams on. The problem, it's not a goddamn script. This is inevitable. Though it'd be fun to see what changes with Lucas's magnum opus. Though we can wait for it on its own.

[]Hireing Someone to Run the Ship: You are an Actor. George is more of a technical guy when it comes to movie-making, and is energetic about making it. You both have no fucking idea how to run a company like this. So, time to find help. DC: ???

This is an actor quest, not a producer quest. While we're involved in running the studio we should have someone else in charge.

[]Investing in the Future: You want to Spend some of that money you made into the company and make the whole thing better DC: ??? (Linetail what you want to invest in, and how much money you want to invest in it)

I have no idea what to invest in, but we shold invest in something.

[]Buy An Office: Working from home seems like a good idea until all this goddamn paperwork starts to get in the way. And you need space. DC: 0 Cost 500,000 Dollars (Linetail to ask George if you want him to help out with it, and split the expenses)

We need an office. It may be boring compared to other options but it's still useful.

[]The Industrial Lights, and Magic: So George has this pet project of his, and you want to see what exactly he has done in the month since he decided to… well show something. DC: 35/60/80 (Helping George can lead to interesting consequences)

If we're not getting involved with the making of Star Wars I want to get involved in Lucas's special effects dream machine.

And we need at least one action of networking with someone.
