Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

I don't see any reason why The Land Before Time wouldn't be a Dreamworks film here, so it's very possible.
I am catching up, almost there after a day of reading, and I see what you mean now.
that was a good development.

If I did not sleep, I would work on a land before time pitch, because I grew up with that one, and it deserves a good showing of Don Bluth talent like when he made it in our timeline.

I will see if I can come up with a pitch or just get back to my own personal projects.

Video Game Pitch: Snow Wars: A New Kid

Video Game Pitch: Snow Wars: A New Kid
Game Developer: Lucasarts
Platform: Sega Genesis
Director: Jonathan Davidson
Genre: Action, Side Scroller shooter, comedy

Premise: The game takes place in the fictional town of Hoff, Michigan. Hoff is a town where its youth are obsessed with snowball fights and take it to the extreme, launching "Snow Wars" against each other every winter where if one takes a foot outside then it shall be a battle to the frostbite with total suburban winter warfare. Most famous of the Snow Wars is the fierce rivalry between Philip Hart Elementary and John Wagner Academy, home to the rich kids of Hoff and named after John Wagner, a ficitonal version of Henry Ford. Whoever wins the Snow Wars wins prestige and many social rights and priviliges over the town with Wagner unfortunately dominating thanks to their wealth allowing them to purchase many snow gadgets to overwhelm Hart.

The protagonist of the game is Victoria "Vicky" Alonso, a new kid to Hoff who moved from South Texas thanks to her Dad getting a new job at the town. In the opening cutscene, Vicky is "drafted" by Hart when Wagner kids launch a raid during recess. Despite Vicky having no familiarity with winter weather, she proves to be a natural snowball fighter and drives away the Wagner kids in the first level, thus having her join the students of Hart. Her mission, to save the student council president from being imprisoned by Wagner with the private school said to be in possesion of a superweapon which cover all of Michigan in there tyranny.

The game is a fun and loose parody of Star Wars, most particularly the Hoth scenes from Empire strikes back. Gameplay is focused on being a "side scroller shooter" where the player controls Vicky through the various levels, using snowballs against the Wagner students. The base action of fighitng is Vicky throwing a snowball. There is a limited amount of snowballs Vicky can throw with her being able to throw six snowballs at single fire pace. Vicky can refill her snowball meter by digging up snow from the ground, or by collecting snow from defeated enemies.

The health system is 3 hearts where if Vicky is hit three times then she gets a cold "as shown by a humurous cutscene" and loses a life. Vicky can gain extra hearts by picking up extra layers of clothing equal to a heavy coat, gloves, beanie and scarf. There are also health items for Vicky to regain health in the form of hot chocolate thermos'.

The base element sees Vicky traversing through parts of town against Wagner students, moving through a field with various winter decorations, snow mounds or suburban placements as places for cover and minor obstacles for Vicky to traverse with normal gameplay being at more of a top down third person point of view than the flat screen of Mario. Wagner kids are usually armed with some form of Snow gadgets and weaponry with slight advantages in rate of fire. In normal snowball sections, Vicky will can obtain upgrades in the form of either a shovel in which she can fling all of her snowball meter in one giant ball to one shot enemies, or a snowman kit where she can build snowmen to act as defensive shields.

The following are the levels of Snow Wars:

  • Hart Elementary Playground: The starter level where Vicky must traverse through the Playground and defeat the invading Hart students.
  • P.E Initiation: Having proven herself as a worthy fighter, Vicky must traverse through an obstacle course against Hart's best in PE to be selected for the next phase of operations.
  • O'Brian Street: As school ends, Vicky must lead a breakout of the Hart students onto O'Brian street, both to protect the little students as they head home and allow the Hart Snowtroopers to break out from the Hart siege and take the fight to them.
  • Downtown: Vicky is called to rescue students from an allied school downtown against a Wagner assault.
  • Fort Tommy: With word that the student council president has been captured and Vicky's efforts leading to the tide being shifted, Vicky must assault the great Wagner base of Fort Tommy, inserting herself in a snow maze to take the fight to Wagner.
  • Lake Wawapoke: In this special level, Vicky must don hockey gear and traverse Lake Wawapoke, battling against Wagner students using hockey pucks and curling to reach to the other side of the lake.
  • Wagner Forest: Vicky must climb on a steep forrested hill battling Wagner patrols to infiltrate the Academy.
  • Wagner Academy: Vicky must traverse the grounds of Wagner Academy to rescue the Student Council President who has the plans to Wagner's secret weapon.
  • Slopes: Vicky escapes with the President and other captured kids, heading back down the hill and relying on a snowboard to simply escape the Wagner kids.
  • Country Club Assault: Learning of the Wagner kids funding a superweapon that can launch enough snow to cover an entire block, they mobilize on their snowmobiles and assault the country club where it is being built through a run of intense fortifications.
  • Club Wagner: Vicky must traverse the club grounds and do battle with Wagner's most elite students to destroy the Blizzard Gustav. After defeating the final boss, the Blizzard Gustav hits Wagner Academy and then explodes.
The final cutscene sees Vicky be celebrated at a pizza party for her heroics and earning a Hart letterman jacket, with Vicky happy to have found new friends and a place to belong.

Video Game Pitch: Tommy Lasorda Baseball

Video Game Pitch: Tommy Lasorda Baseball
Game Developer: Lucasarts
Platform: Sega Genesis
Director: Naoto Oshima
Genre: Sports

Premise: A sports game similar to Showtime Baskebtall, Tommy Lasorda Baseball sees the player take control of an MLB team and either face off against another player or against a computer. The base gameplay is a simulation of baseball with the player either pitching and managing the field players, or batting and attempting to land hits to gain runs. Players on each team will have similar statistics to their real life counterparts which affect gameplay. Players can choose to alter stats or the conditions of the field in the settings. Base gameplay is either single game exhibition matches, or a 30 match season where players play against a schedule of teams across the league, and can enter a single game playoff bracket ending in the world series with the standings and bracket determined by randomized matches outside of the player.

For AoT you would need to start altering at least from the start of season 4, considering how broken worldbuilding ended up being. Marley treats eldians like germans treated jews but apparently it's one of the better countries? And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I am not even going to go into detail of how inconsistent characters ended up being in season 4.

But yeah i think AoT would be a cool lateral move for a king of mecha. But who would make it?
I think that the Eldians need to be persecuted for the story to work. We just have to find a different way to treat them than jews as that raises some connotations that I don't like. But we can't have the outside shifters be legitimately evil either. Definitely something to work on.

... I may be a little paranoid at the moment, but I hope that this is no way affects "The Stick of Truth".

Don't see why. The two just happen to share a very broad premise with a new kid moving into town and being roped into a fantastical game between the local kids. There's lots of differences like Vicky being an established character instead of a blank slate, no foul or crass humor, the focus on a winter war theme instead of fantasy larping, and of course South Park's large cast of characters and many callbacks to their show. Plus, Stick of Truth is RPG while Snow Wars is a n action shooter.

Wait, she got upset over a teacher not being racist and sexist?
she gave her teacher the death stare for 6 I repeat 6 identical, as in literal cntrl+c cntrl+v panels as a response towards said teacher in that comic. It's so bad.

How marvel figured iron heart to be a project worth giving a show I'll never know. None of the comic geeks I know like her so 0 nostalgia from us and for the casual audiene and the mcu super fans all like rdjs iron man performance and character arc way to much to want to see a replacement.

disney marvel and lucas film does not know it's audiene at all

I do want our boy to live, but someone has to Radicalize and form the Yaegerists, I don't want to assassinate Erwin's character like that.
As for the ending, I do want to improve it, but The Rumbling is a pretty good finale, and I don't think Eren being able to kill the rest of the planet and go home scot free would convey a good message to audiences. Definitely gotta change some stuff tho if we don't want the Rumbling, and I'm pretty sure you can't change ignorance, so maybe they find a way to convert normal people into Eldians.
...fuck. AOT would make an excellent HOI4 expansion. As would a lot of other animes.
I know it's probably because of favoritism, but I just can't imagine Erwin agreeing with the Yeagerists.
Unless that's not what you meant, and I just misunderstood.

You know it was a bad sign that you completely forgot this film existed until you had a conversation with a Yugoslav extra who asked if American vacations were really like how it was in the movie. You took notice of the script when doing some window shopping around Hollywood, wanting to expand the Lucasfilms roster. The company was really lacking in comedies, and you really enjoyed the concept and had some laughs when reading it. It also kind of hit some sort of urge you had as you while you had gone on family vacations, you could never do a road trip with your family until all your kids didn't wear diapers, and such an experience was anathema for working class New Yorkers. So you gave Hughes the okay, and Harold Ramis approached with interest to direct since he was a veteran of National Lampoon Show. Being familiar with the material so to speak and with Ramis being a rising star in Hollywood, you trusted him and was very hands off with the project. Perhaps you should have checked in every now and then.

The premise was simple. Clark Griswold, father of the Griswold family, wanting to spend more time plans a vacation with them to the fabled "Wally World", the stand-in for Disneyland. Clark is adamant that they go on a road trip to bond and make memories instead of simply flying, however after a rocky start, things continue to go downhill and out of control with endless misadventures and mishaps, causing the family to be at odds with Clark determined to have a good trip and go to Wally World no matter what it took.

If you had to describe the movie, it would be good but rough. There are some absolutely hillarious scenes and it's a solid story, but overall the many parts of the film come together a bit awkwardly in comparison to Airplane where all the stars aligned to make one of the greatest comedies ever. There were lots of great jokes, but almost as many rough ones that had a messy landing. The cast was decent but out of sync and most of the main characters had some bad scenes here and there. Ramis' direction quality saw a noticable drop from his excellent debut with Caddy Shack. And production value even if it was just a simple road trip comedy didn't quite live up to the Lucasfilms reputation of excellence. None of this altogether makes Vacation a bad movie, but it's not a great one, just a decent and fun comedy that is largely left to viewer's taste.

Though you have to say that you can see a decent amount of people being turned off by how mean spirited the script can be at times. Never enough to be masochistic, but Hughes unfortunately didn't provide a balance of levity as the Griswolds get constantly pummeled with misfortune and disaster a bit too much without room to breathe, practically with the same if not worse luck than Conan's production. A few noteworthy scenes are when Clark accidentally drag's his aunt's dog across the highway to death (Thankfully off-screen), an action which by all reports caused a number of people to leave the theater in disgust. There was also said Aunt's later death scene where she's then tied to the top of the car on a mattress. Humurous, but a bit much for the movie. Honestly if the Griswolds just had some moments where they were bonding or being happy and we could see that magic spark that Clark is trying so desperately to kindle, then audiences would probably be forgiving.

As it is, many audiences and critics are put off the movie with general polarization and many saying its too mean and nasty to have a laugh at. You can kind of see where they are coming from in comparison to Airplane as while that film had just as, if not more of a dark tone, from the first scene it was clearly shown to be bizarre and unserious as a pure goofy movie. With the Griswolds being a mostly grounded family, all the bad things that happen to them feel a bit real and much and it's hard to get suspension of disbelief.

There was also one thing that personally bugged you with Clark having a running gag/side plot where there's a hot blonde in a ferrari travelling across the country at the same time as them. Clark is a bit smitten and constantly fantasizes being with her, often leading to comedic stuff. Eventually, he manages to meet her at a motel and he goes skinny dipping with her, only being stopped from escalating due to the motel pool being extremely cold and Clark yelling and alerting the family and other guests. Of course, Clark doesn't commit to an affair and rekindles with his wife, but the fact that he was actually willing to go the distance and was only stopped by comedy just didn't sit right with you. As a fellow Dad, you had been rooting for Clark up until that point, and with Sean's temptations not too long ago, that scene really soured the movie for you. Having watched it the first time on VHS when you got home, you stopped the film and couldn't watch it til the next day.

That same night Carrie had been really happy and bashful with you and the two of you had a great time in bed. Guess something good came out of watching it.

Anyways, yeah the film was okay but not the best. Still, it could have found an audience and success, it honestly should have you feel. However, as many would come to term it years later, National Lampoon's Vacation had been the victim of being the first Lucasfilms release after Return of the Jedi, and it showed in the box office.

Another rare Lucasfilms commercial L thanks to a generous budget, the movie only made $20 million worldwide and had lost about 10 million. Not close to the same level of bomb as Sisu or 1941, but yeah it failed. This movie was barely a blip on anybody's radar with a third of its money being made in opening weekend, and the only country outside of the US. it crossed a million in was Yugoslavia thanks to the national buzz of you filming there. Though Canada came close with $900,000. You had thought that surely after three months and a summer of Star Wars that the people would be open to other films, especially since Vacation was an R-rated road trip comedy. Still, in August and September you still had many box offices where half of its theaters were playing Return of the Jedi in packed theaters, and it absolutely dominated the Italian and Yugoslav theaters during that time. Sigh, a victim of success.

National Lampoon's Vacation was not the worst Lucasfilms movie, and all that money lost was but pennies on the $100 bill with the absolute wealth that Return of the Jedi was bringing in. Still, it was an unfortunate failure that perhaps could have succeeded if it was aired at any other time. This really bummed John Hughes who is hoping to make a series out of it and has a sequel planned out. He was also fearful you wouldn't be willing to work with him, but you were willing to give him another chance with his Breakfast Club film.

Also from what you learned from Michael after your first meeting from returning home, there was some drama after release with Harold Ramis. Ramis believed that Lucasfilms set up the film to fail by releasing three months after Return of the Jedi and he's concerned that Ghostbusters will be given a similar harsh treatment next year. He fought with Mike a bit for the release with Mike giving a guarantee of generous advertising, but still Harold is holding off on doing any more work for the studio unless Ghostbusters is a hit.

At the very least, Vacation wasn't a total bust as it had some modest success in VHS. There were definitely millions of people who may have overlooked or not known it had existed during the Star Wars summer that gave it a try during rental, so overall it's still technically profitable and would later have decent viewership on LucasTV. With Lucasfilms' coffers, you could go ahead and sponsor a sequel with absolutely no danger to the company's financials, but you're unsure if you want to go ahead with the risk.

Whelp that's a possible RIP to the National Lampoon franchise. At least the VHS sales were nice. I hope Ghost Busters will smooth everything out with Harold Ramis.

Damn Lucasfilms! Stealing our potential audiences!!

Also, we spent 15 mil and got back 105, of course we're doing sequels.

I am not abainst eldians being persecuted. My objection was to nazi-jew treatment being apparently one of the better outcomes outside of paradis. That's just absurd, hard to believe and makes an already shaky 'both sides bad' argument basically invalid.

Generally, everyone that's not us wants us dead is a kind of lie that dictators tell populace to keep it in line. In AoT it's the truth.

And what do you mean? Outside shifters are evil in canon.

They were brought up in an environment that persecuted them and guilt tripped them into serving Marley for the crimes of their ancestors. Reiner and co infiltrating the walls and not finding blood thirsty demons like the propaganda said there would be shook them. Growing to like and emphasize with the so called demons that were actually just more people was what made Reiner snap and reveal himself and Bertholt as spies. After they get home Reiner is shook by what he has learned.

Neither sob story nor feeling bad changing the fact that they still did those terrible evil things. Reiner and Bert are sympathetic guys but no less evil for it.
The rest Marleyan shifters don't have even that little.

speaking of plitics.
1) what is the next big war USA is involved in at this time?
2) can someone born out of USA such as the goose hold public a office?

1) what is the next big war USA is involved in at this time?
If things follow OTL, then the invasion of Grenada was this year and the intervention in Lebanon was still going on. Next major war though? Arguably the Gulf War, but that won't be until the 90s, unless something changes in between.
2) can someone born out of USA such as the goose hold public a office?
Yes? Literally nothing's been changed regarding that and it was always the case that you can run for President so long as you're a natural born citizen, along with satisfying the other requirements. You don't have to be born in America to be president.
Edit: I know you said "public office," but let's be real, you're asking if he can run for President.
