Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

TV Show Pitch: That '70s Show (Alt Title: The Kids Are Alright)
Thought I'd make up a quick pitch for That 70s Show. If the folks here have ideas/criticism or suggestions, please do let me know!

TV Show Pitch: That '70s Show

(Alt Title: The Kids Are Alright)

GENRE: Comedy

SUBGENRE: Teen Sitcom

FORMAT: TV Series

Set Up: Set in the fictional suburban town of Point Place, Wisconsin, during the mid-to-late 1970s, the show follows the lives of six teenage friends as they navigate the ups and downs of adolescence. With humor, nostalgia, and a bit of rebellion, the series captures the essence of growing up in the '70s. The core group consists of Eric Forman, his best friend Steven Hyde, next-door neighbor and love interest Donna Pinciotti, the dim but charming Michael Kelso, the wealthy, popular yet insecure Jackie Burkhart, and the lovable foreign exchange student Fez. Under the watchful eyes of Eric's strict but caring parents, Red and Kitty Forman, the teens deal with school, relationships, and the impending responsibilities of adulthood, all while hanging out in Eric's basement.

Eric Forman: A sarcastic, geeky teenager who is often the voice of reason among his friends. Living under the roof of his strict but loving parents, Red and Kitty, Eric's basement becomes the central hangout spot for the group.
Played By: Topher Grace

Donna Pinciotti: Eric's next-door neighbor and eventual girlfriend, Donna is independent, intelligent, and outspoken. She often challenges the traditional gender roles of the era and is fiercely loyal to her friends.
Played By: Winona Ryder
Alternate: Jennifer Connelly
Alternate 2: Laura Prepon

Michael Kelso: The dim-witted, handsome ladies' man of the group. Kelso's good looks often get him out of trouble, but his cluelessness frequently leads to comical situations.
Played By: Rob Lowe
Alternate: Matt Dillon
Alternate 2: Ashton Kutcher

Steven Hyde: Eric's rebellious best friend with a cynical view of the world. Hyde comes from a broken home and eventually moves in with the Formans. He embodies the counterculture of the '70s and often serves as the group's bad influence.
Played By: Christian Slater
Alternate: Johnny Depp

Jackie Burkhart: The self-absorbed, wealthy, and popular girl who initially dates Kelso. Despite her superficial exterior, Jackie gradually reveals her vulnerabilities and complexities as the series progresses.
Played By: Alyssa Milano
Alternate: Mila Kunis

Fez: The lovable foreign exchange student whose origins are a mystery (it's later revealed that he's Italian/Eastern European/French*). Fez's quirky behavior and unique perspective on American culture often result in humorous misunderstandings.
Played By: Jonathan Taylor Thomas

Red Forman: Eric's stern, no-nonsense father who often threatens to put his "foot in your ass." Despite his tough exterior, Red cares deeply for his family and occasionally shows his softer side.
Played By: Kurtwood Smith

Kitty Forman: Eric's nurturing, cheerful mother who works as a nurse. Kitty's upbeat personality and occasional naivety contrast with Red's gruff demeanor, providing balance in the Forman household.
Played By: Debra Jo Rupp

Bob Pinciotti: Donna's eccentric and clueless father who often finds himself in awkward situations. His quirky personality adds to the comedic dynamic of the show.
Played By: Tom Arnold
Alternate: John Goodman

Midge Pinciotti: Donna's mother, who is ditzy but well-meaning. Her relationship with Bob is tumultuous, leading to various comedic scenarios.
Played By: Morgan Fairchild
Alternate: Priscilla Presley

Leo: The aging hippie who runs the local photo hut where Hyde works. Leo's laid-back and often confused demeanor provides comic relief and a connection to the counterculture of the '70s.
Played By: Tommy Chong

Buddy Morgan: A well-liked, popular and rich young man, Buddy Morgan becomes a close friend of Eric's during their time as lab partners on a school project. A closeted bisexual man, Buddy eventually makes a move on Eric, which makes Eric question his sexuality greatly. Eventually, however, Buddy and Eric decide it's best to remain friends.
Played By: Joseph Gordon Levitt
Alternate: Sean Astin

Laurie Forman: Eric's older sister, who is manipulative and promiscuous. Laurie frequently causes trouble for Eric and his friends with her schemes.
Played By: Heather Locklear
Alternate: Sharon Stone

Randy Pearson: A charming and friendly guy who joins the group in the later seasons, becoming a new romantic interest for Jackie.
Played By: Michael J. Fox
Alternate: Andrew McCarthy

So, seeing as a lot of people have discussed Red Forman, and the general direction they'd want to go with the character, I decided to mock up a pitch for an alternate version of That 70s Show. You'll notice several major changes, but I'm gonna make a quick list and discuss each point as I do:

- For one, you'll notice that Danny Masterson and Wilmer Valderrama are not part of/considered at all for their respective roles. This is because of the repeated and numerous allegations and crimes (of which Masterson has been sentenced for 30 years for) of which they've been accused or convicted of. While I enjoy the characters of Hyde and Fez quite a bit, I feel that their characters are (in some strange way) tainted by the actors who played them. Therefore I have elected to remove them from consideration for these roles entirely, and have, to the best of my ability, found actors who I think could suitably replace them.

- * Fez's origins being ambiguous should, in my opinion, initially remain as such until at least either Season 2 or 3, with my thinking being that since Valderrama was Latino, having a white actor play him instead would make him being from South America be...a bit awkward. So I'm thinking Fez could be perhaps Italian/French or Nordic European of some description. All vague ideas, nothing concrete.

- I should probably put this at the top but I'd prefer if we held off this series until either the late 80s/early 90s, with just enough time passing between the 70s and when the show begins to actually allow the nostalgia to make sense. And also because some of these actors are not yet of age to play these characters.

Hey guys, quick question. What do you think of contacting Dan Aykroyd next turn and see if he's willing to let us produce his script?

It's called Ghostbusters.

-[X]Meanwhile: Mike looked at several things and papers, and all you could see is his notes. The man was going to kill himself with all the work. DC: 45 Rolled:D100 => 94

You looked at Mike and looked at the notes, the man had been working nonstop for films, and ideas for TV shows, for almost a month, and you could see it was finally getting to him, and an intervention was in order.

Well, that and you wanted to get the man to actually go home. He deserved so much more.

"Mike, as your boss, I am ordering you to go home for the next few days."

"The hell I am." He replied.

"No, you are." You ordered. "You want to know why. Because you are losing your edge."

That made Mike stop. "What?"

"I just said it." You replied. "You are losing your edge, and I can't have you screwing anything up by you not being good enough for the damn job. And I know you're better than the screw-ups that got you."

At that, Mike realized what you were saying and sat down on his desk. "Dammit."

Reward: You have prevented Mike from having a mental breakdown, and losing him for a few turns.

New Actions Available.

-[X]So a Side Story Star Wars Film: Mike finally got the news that he can make that Star Wars Film… but honestly, you don't even know what to do, or what the hell to even try. But you might try it? DC:???
--[X]Director: Irvin Kershner Rolled:D100 => 45
--[X] Producer: Ian Bryce Rolled:D100 => 85

To be honest, you didn't think it was even possible to get a director. Bryce was easy, Steve just called in a favor, but Kershner was difficult. And it was almost a failure until he saw that you were asking for him personally.

"You are the one person who understands that the story telling needed to make a sequel not only fine but superior in every way to George's original." And the man then basically signed on, because in his words. "George would never forgive me if I said no."
Reward: The Production begins.
--------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Last Summer Run: Ron Howards Debut, and now you want to see just how good your friend has gotten as a director. DC: ??? Rolled:D100 + 20 => 95

You think it beat the Thing.

Maybe because Brandon was in it.

But maybe and just maybe, Ron was talented as hell.

-[X]The New Blood: So... Who wants to work for Lucasfilms? DC:???
--[X]Director Rolled:D100 => 16
--[X]Producer Rolled:D100 => 28

You were gone, but you didn't get to see them.

But they are waiting.

Failure

-[X]An Offer: So Grace Kelly… Ehem, the Princess Consort of Monaco has invited you to train her family in martial arts, as well as giving you a vacation away from Hollywood. Plus she also has something to… offer. DC: 40 Rolled:D100 => 100

Special Event Roll:D100 => 93

So that was… God dammit, you hate it when you get sucked into intrigues that you want no part in.

Carrie Agreed. Mostly because royal celebrity culture was far different than… the regular celebrity culture.

But hey you solved a problem for them, their kids and staff love you, and well...

Why the hell were you the one having to save peoples lives! You thought you had enough of saving people after MASH.

-[X]A Stupid Panic: You want to look at the people who are raising a stink about the Satanic panic, and the Drug dealers and dumbasses… and look them in the eyes and tell them they are bad parents. Because everything they say, just makes you feel sick. DC:??? Rolled:D100 => 1+30=31

You wanted so badly to make the moral guardians and the other idiots, particularly the insane religious fanatics who thought that kids having fun and wanting to understand the world, as well as fighting monsters with dice rolls and having adventures to deepen their friendships.

It was impossible to really want to stress it. Also, you really wanted to stress that, while evil existed, you knew that with proper parenting, open-mindedness, and if those who were inclined to believe, in the grace of the Lord, any challenge could be overcome. And something as silly as satanic cults was utterly insane.

That was your first mistake, because anyone who claimed otherwise, was going insane.

And every time you wanted to defend yourself, the idiots and your enemies, seem to take it far… far… far too far.

You honestly, couldn't even begin to believe that you were even at the point, because they were trying to smear you. They had no choice, they were idiots who seemed to think you were Satan himself. Some even call you the devil in disguise, harping on about morals when you had none. The old American anti-catholic mindset, one that you had hoped was a very long-buried conceit since Kennedy came rearing its very ugly head…

And it wasn't just the anti-catholic. The antisemitic crowds, the anti-Mormons, and other evil people were seemingly given confidence or just got angered enough to reveal themselves. The people who thought that anyone not like Them… whatever the fuck that meant… needed to be changed to their way.

Or be exiled. That meant even something as simple as a game with friends, battling monsters and being heroes, villains, or anyone in between… was simply a way for satan to win.

And they would take that away, or do something far worse.

You didn't know, but you think it's going to get worse before it gets better.

And you pray for them.

Failure. Try as you might to let logic and rationality… or even just faith and hope and goodness in each other carry the day, your enemies have decided to twist your message of hope into something that has riled up the truly heinous, and truly, vitally evil.

They have rallied against you, and others like you, and want to

Evil will have its day for now… but good will triumph. Eventually.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Sarah's wonderful Art: Your little girl has been standing at the easel… and she painted you and Carrie from a photo. DC: 30 Rolled:D100 => 45

You looked at the art and it was… well it was not a perfect picture by any means, and it was covered in colors and crayons and just more kiddie things that most people would think it would be taken away from it.

But not you, you really really enjoyed it and had it framed in your trophy room. Because that was a far more important treasure than anything that you could ever earn.

Reward: Sarah begins to draw and paint.
---------------------------------------------------

-[X]Joseph's Love of Baseball: Joseph has wanted to go to watch baseball. So you figure that going to a ball game would be nice. DC: ??? Rolled:D100 => 37

Joseph has always been an active child and you were very happy to see that he was loving baseball. And you took him to a game with the family, though as you soon realized, that everyone was not as enthralled at the game as he was.

Everyone was talking, but Joseph was enthralled with the game. He loved everything about it.

Also, he ate two hotdogs and loved it.

Team:D26 => 26
Around the Leauge News:D100 => 90

However, with his love of baseball, he began to learn the game and wanted to see what was interesting was happening.

You checked and learned that some guy named Dave Stieb of the Toronto Blue Jays had thrown a no-hitter. Not a perfect game but it was something.

Huh, neat.

Reward: Joseph has fallen in love with baseball.
----------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Best Friends: So Mary has lots of friends, and she wants them to come over. You need to prepare for that. Carrie, get the cookies. Rolled:D100 => 9
-[X]The Family Time: You need a night out with the family dammit! No more drama, no more work, just you and Carrie and the Kids! Rolled:D100 => 90
You honestly think that Mary had too many friends. This was god damn ridiculous.

(Continued in: Mary the Mighty, the Queen of DND!)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Networking: Well time to start finding out who might actually be interested in meeting you. (Write-in what you want to try and network with)
--[X] Rick Rosner. The producer behind the hit series CHiPS, Rick is pitching an anthology show that follows a lottery worker and IRS agent as they travel the country and interact with various winners, with the audience then following the winners to see how winning the lottery impacts their lives. Sounds like a decent premise, see if he wants it on LucasTV. Rolled:D100 => 76

He took it immediately.

Reward: Can produce.
-----------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Pray: It had been a long time since you went to Mass. You wish for the Lord to give you strength. DC: ???
--[X] Pray for a safe and happy time for you and your family in Monaco. Rolled:D100 => 79+30=99

Well, you got your wish… it only took a few days for it to finally come true.

You think your guardian angel is working over time to keep you safe though, given the fact that you really, really… really worked hard to help the Royal Family with their peculiar problem.

Also, Grace thinks that you are the only reason she and her family are alive after that car accident.

Fucking hell! I just knew the fraking hypocrites would rather point fingers rather then reflect and humble themselves!

Well, at the very least we have that TV Show, though personally, I'd like to use it as a springboard to later try and produce My Name is Earl.

Would we even be able to control a Bill Murry at the height of his powers?
We just have to gat Reitman and let him do his thing. Aside from that, we're golden.

Well we saved 1 royal .... will save Diana at this rate won't we?. Also danm those moral bussy bodies won for now. We will have to deal with them like asap

Whelp it looks like a bunch of assholes hate us. Oh no, please don't./s But seriously it's something we're gonna have to deal with. Star power and getting stuff to be more mainstream by putting out the Forgotten Realms movie and the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon* might be able to cut into it a bit. But as long as people listen to fearmongering firebrands it's not gonna go away fully.

On the bright side It looks like we saved a life. Which is awesome.

*If someone hasn't made a pitch for it they should it was pretty good.

Wait guys I know the perfect way to destroy the Satan panic and turn it into the next red scare ask Regan for help to get rid of these guys and then blame them for being communist or neo facism it will help get rid of those that support them and also exile them from home and the community just like they did to others

Uhhhh let's not go the nuclear route just yet

Bruce when friends of his kids are being bullied by older adults and or their parents because they play DND:

Peace was never an option.

I will let you know, that Bruce is trying to do things in a way that will make people think.

Problem is, these people don't think they are fucking stupid.

These absolute hypocrites!

Let's do the opposite and donate a boatload of our wealth to worthy causes again. They're not worth our attention.

So..... Well.... I think Bruce might have accidentally managed to end up as a hero again and possibly given the USA a good friend in the kingdom he saved....

Also I am totally picturing Mary and our kids charming the pants off of the royals.... Mary O'Brian being the crush of a little prince perhaps?

Heh, could definitely see her wowing them with her brains

Edit: I hit post before I meant to so had to edit the rest in.

I wonder if it would bad if the assassin sent to the royal family were actually sent by the moral group to kill us leading Reagan to hunt them down turning the Satan panic into the religious panic as all religious people against us face the backlash of the USA government

I wonder if it would bad if the assassin sent to the royal family were actually sent by the moral group to kill us leading Reagan to hunt them down turning the Satan panic into the religious panic as all religious people against us face the backlash of the USA government
..... On one hand the government being able to crack down on televangelists and the like would be a MASSIVE help.

On the other that sort of backlash would be something Bruce would be against if only because of freedom of religion.

Though I will admit there does need to be a line in the sand for when religious freedom becomes inciting instability and chaos

I wanted to enjoy this update, there were lots of good things like that nat 100 with the princess and Joseph and Sarah developing and finding new loves and hobbies. But then we had to get this Nat 1, and what's worse is that this Nat 1 was completely avoidable.

Thanks everyone who passed over the dozen of rewards Magoose gave to completely erase the Satanic Panic for meager gains or chose to keep it for fun. Now Bruce is gonna get harassed by crazy assholes, lots of kids growing up are going to be messed up, and our RPG industry is completely fucked. This development was completely avoidable because it was one where we were given an out lots of times and no one took it seriously in spite of the warnings and outs.

Now animation has advanced but roleplaying is uber fucked, we're in for a worse dark ages and Bruce is gonna suffer.
