Lights... Camera... ACTION!!: A Hollywood Quest

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Hi Magoose here one of the guys helping Duke.

So we have some bad news.

The quest has been canceled as duke does not want to write it anymore.

I'm going to ask if I can take over for it, because I like this quest, and it would be a shame to kill it
TBF, Mags, you have been doing a lot of the heavylifting for the quest, so this will be in good hands. :)

To be clear to everyone, this is just me burning out on imagination of the quest, since my muse has been hitting me over the head a lot with so many different ideas that I just can't find myself too interested in this.

I'll still hang out here, though, since this still does have a sepcial place in my heart.

I'd like to thank you all for making this a wonderful experience while it lasted.

I'd also like to thank @Magoose, @Fluffy_serpent, and @Martin Noctis for doing so much to help prepare and write this quest. I couldn't have done it without you all. :D

I'll see you all around.

With so many regards, Duke William Of.

So, who else is suddenly remembering Cartoon Saloon and their works with The Song of the Sea and The Wolfwalkers and The Book of Kells and thinking this is where they got their first inspiration.

Bonus if the art style, looking like something out of an illuminated manuscript, was used here.

Edit: Cartoon Saloon opened in 1999

Edit 2: At least one of the founders would be a kid right about now.... Definitely could see them seeing this.
I've seen Song of the Sea, and I love it! I was planning on making a pitch for it so that we could have an animated movie made in Ardmore, but at the end of the day, I had way too much respect for the creators, and figured that we migth eventually get them to either work for us, or let us be their distributor.
Movie Pitch:
JoJo Rabbit
Oh man! I was going to do a Pitch about it. Ah well, win some, lose some as they say. It's still good.

Though a suggestion if I may? Christian Bale is going to have his big break in 1987's Empire of the Sun, a Spielberg Classic, so it might be a good idea to have a different actor since otherwise, as the main character in movies dealing with WWII, the audience might feel it a bit jarring.
Excellent! Classical Tale has found its footing(as in the moral outrage footing). What's next? African mythology? Perhaps Chinese or Japanese?
Next is Ancient China, which I'm tempted to skip. No need to give free propaganda for the Commies Scum who tried to kill our family.

I'm thinking of working on Japanese Mythology instead.

Add in an omake about a few of the original founders of the studio seeing this season and getting inspired.... I'm kind of hoping we can hire them on in a few years

Woops! Sorry about that.

I don't really see that as much of a problem since that's '87 and Bale is only in the 80s casting. If the film isn't made by '87, then it's probably not being made in the 80s, at which point, the 90s casting would be more relevant with Jamie Bell. That being said, I decided to take this into consideration and changed it to Jonathan Brandis for the 80s casting of JoJo.
There is a reward I want to see taken before I finish
Alright, alright! I get it, hold your horses. :p
[]I think that this is quite good (The Trilogy can be produced at the same time with no maluses)
[]The Pope wants to see you. Again. (You have been invited to see the pope again)
[]I think that This will scare the shit out of everyone (Give a bonus to the action for this next turn)
It's very difficult to choose, but I have to, so let's do this. The Pope meeting, while interesting, is obviously out. That leaves either the first or third. Fuuuuuck. The question here ultimately is what the action itself is about. Hmmmmmm..... as good as the first is, being produced at the same time is not necessary and the no maluses only comes into play there if the action itself involves them all being produced at once, at which point it may be necessary... although what kind of bonus is it? What is it going towards? The description of the action makes me think quality score, but I can't be certain. Agggh! Fuck it, I'm a paranoid fuck, so-
[X]I think that This will scare the shit out of everyone (Give a bonus to the action for this next turn)
-I'll go with this.

Movie Pitch: Total Recall
It's been so long since I last saw this movie that nearly everything I remember from it is kind of blurry. I do recall having enjoyed the thrill and the adventure of it all though, even if I did not completely agree later on when those theories that it was "all just a dream" or a hallucination of Quaid's mind. It makes for a good mind screw and an interesting theory, but I never bought into it personally. I did like Arnold ion the role, so I'm hoping that we can convince him to take on the part, but if not, well, we have Stallone, and he would be more than willing to take on another iconic role.

That's only if he's unwilling though.

I can see us working on this movie easily from 85' going forwards, though if we want we can still work with an earlier date. I'd still prefer with a later one since it does allow us to use all of the actors selected as options, rather than having only one of them as the final one. Some small changes to some of the actors might be necessary, but I think that most of the ones in there can work perfectly for what we want.

Thus, I give you:

Movie Pitch:
Total Recall

GENRE: Action/Adventure/Science Fiction

SUBGENRE: Thriller/Mystery/Suspense

FORMAT: Movie

Set Up: Earth, 2084. Plagued by vivid visions of colonized Mars, construction worker Douglas Quaid longs for a trip to the distant red planet. To decipher his recurring nightmares, Quaid purchases a cheaper alternative to the expensive journey: virtual recollections of an imaginary vacation to Mars, provided by Rekall Inc., a company which implants memories. Instead, the procedure backfires on him, and what Quaid used to perceive as reality becomes a blur. As the bullets start flying, as loved ones become enemies, and as strangers become allies, Quaid soon discovers the answers he seeks are on Mars. However, how can he tell the difference between reality and fantasy? Is Quaid prepared for a Total Recall?

Director: David Cronenberg
Composer: Howard Shore

Douglas Quaid/Carl Hauser: He is a construction worker with an obsession with visiting Mars who eventually decides to fulfill his dreams with one of Rekall's "Ego Trips," where he will be a secret agent working to save the planet Mars. The procedure goes wrong, and Quaid discovers he actually is a secret agent named Hauser who supposedly turned against Cohaagen after realizing he was on the wrong side and fell in with the Mars Resistance. He'd then been mindwiped and dumped on Earth.

Played By: Arnold Schwarzenegger
Alternate: Sylvester Stallone

Melina: She is a member of the resistance undercover as a prostitute who was in love with Hauser. She was furious with Hauser when they met once more after Carl recovered his memories, as she believed that he had betrayed them, and her specifically. After reuniting, and discovering the loss of his memories, she takes him to see "Kuatu", who is the leader of the resistance, hoping to recover the missing information, and then aiding him in the mission to activate the alien reactor.

Played By: Angela Bassett
Alternate: Maria Conchita Alonso

Vilos Coohagen: The corrupt governor of Mars who uses his turbinium mining to rule Mars with an iron fist. His reign as Governor of the Mars colony is considered questionable at best, as the resistance members hold him in contempt for his mining operations and constructions of cheap domes that caused deaths and/or mutation among people (including children) for profit, and most of the citizens, who are neither part of his forces nor the Resistance, coldly complain about his monopoly of selling air through high prices.

Played By: Ronny Cox
Alternate: Clancy Brown
Richter: He is Cohaagen's chief lieutenant who tries to kill Quaid against Cohaagen's orders to get revenge on Quaid for sleeping with his wife Lori while she was undercover. He constantly goes against Coohagen's orders in trying to kill Hauser despite him wanting to take him alive, losing it completely when she dies. He's constantly belittled by his boss, though at the same time, he's just as obsessed and self-destructive, willing to die if only to kill Quaid himself.

Played By: Michael Ironside
Alternate: Gary Busey

Lori: She is an agent who went undercover as Quaid's wife to monitor him. She is actually Richter's wife, and one of the most dangerous agents there is, giving one hell of a fight against both Hauser and Melina, being a combat pragmatist who is not afraid to go using the most dirty tricks or just going for the groin when facing Quaid directly. She also shows to have great strength, with her kicks being able to go through Hauser if they had connected.

Played By: Daryl Hannah
Alternate: Kim Basinger

Benny: He is a human with a mutation that has his arms go twice the human length, though he can fold them to make them appear common-length. He is a cab driver that helps Quaid and Melina reach Kuatu's resistance headquarters, pretending to be Quaid's best pal, but after the information about the Alien generator is revealed, he backstabs them, revealing himself to be a spy for Coohagen, and the entire life he'd told everyone was nothing but a lie as he tries to kill Quaid and Melina.

Played By: Ving Rhames
Alternate: Mel Johnson Jr.
Helm: He is RIchter's right hand man. He's a pragmatic man who always follows Coohaven and Richter's lead.

Played By: Michael Champion

Dr. Edgemar: He is the doctor in charge of Quaid's memory simulation, an employee of Rekall.

Played By: Robert Patrick

George/Kuatu: George is the leader of the resistance, Kuatu is his parasitic conjoined twin.

Played By (George): Lance Henriksen
Voiced By (Kuatu): Anthony Heald

A.N.: I know I've been using Cronenberg a lot lately, but he is a massive fan of the subject material, and I think he would jump at the opportunity to work with it if given the chance. As for Howard Shore, well, we can consider this his job interview to see if he can actually an excellent movie score, enough to justify replacing John Williams for the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Turn 99 (August 1982):

George Vs Fox: D100 + 60 => 72 vs D100 => 99

The Unexpected Thing:D100 => 6
Reroll: D100 => 90

YOu wanted so hard to see George see his revenge and his rage come through.

But instead, the case was thrown out on several technicalities, even in the civil cases.

You wanted to know why, but there was going to be more than that when George came back, with only a minor notice.

The Legal team did its Job, but there was something else. "You settled George, what the hell, why?" you asked, as Mike and you both looked at each other with befuddlement. "Five million, I thought yo

That was when George smiled and handed over several files. "Seems that we were not the only ones who were given sabotage."

Given sabotage. "George, what does that mean?"

"I mean, that despite me wanting Fox dead, I was going about it far to much, and they were willing to give me everything. Though unfortunately, not enough."

"Alright, what does that mean?" Mike asked.

"Our friend Jack, seemed to have been working as a private investigator for several years doing scouting and security at Colombia, before getting hired by Sony, for, get this."

He handed over the file and saw the stock reports. "Stocks in Sony, along with a pension and payments of 100,000 dollars a year."

"But why does this lead us to Murdoch?"

"Apparently, Jack has a way of getting things that studios want, blackmail, scripts, and other things." George said.

Everything began to fall into place. "Holy hell, he was playing everyone. He was a spy for Sony?"

"Well not just for Sony, he was in the FBI and pushing information along to a joint task force for Japan trying to stop money laundering schemes for the Yakuza, using their film industry to launder their money." George then smiled. "And the Star Wars thing…"

"The Star Wars thing had a purpose?" Mike asked.

"Yes, it appears so…" George then smiled. "Sony, or some of their possibly Yakuza-backed board members, wanted to hold it for ransom."

"And I thought me nearly getting kidnapped by the Triads and being rescued by Jackie Chan was implausible," Mike said. "Alright, so… what now."

"Turn on the news." George said.

The TV flickered on. "And in investment news, several board members of Sony have been arrested for fraud, insider trading, and corporate espionage. As well as ties to organized crime."

"The Yamaguchi-gumi are pissed." George said. "And all because they wanted to get Star Wars money."

Mike then shook his head. "I'm going to get drunk, who's joining me?"

"I am going to my family so I can go lie down." You said.

George then smiled. "I hope this won't cause something crazy to happen in Japan."

You and Mike both facepalmed.

Reward: Fox settled out of court, but thanks to the Lawsuit, and other events happening beyond the scenes…

With the help of George, the FBI, and the Japanese National Police Agency, arrested several members of the Sony board who have connections to the Yakuza… and many Yakuza members were arrested.

Sony has suffered, not a fatal blow, but one that will take a decade to recover.

This Jack fellow sounds like such an absolute madlad that I can't help but respect him somewhat. Like, how many pies did this guy have his fingers in?

So here is what happened, and these were rolls I decided to play with when Star Wars was stolen.

I rolled for Jack being in the FBI, then I rolled for what task force he was on.

Orginized Crime, and then it went to Yakuza.

Then I rolled for his job, and it was undercover.

He built a case over 6 months where he found out several board members in Sony, had ties to Yakuza, and used their money to finance things.

Digging further... he decided to offer his services to get even more evidence.

he works for them as an assumed identity that was an empty shirt that existed on the books but did not exist.

Then he was told to steal from Fox, then turned coat to get more... and then borrowed star wars.

after that, Sony had a house of cards that he was happily willing to push down and arrest several dozen people.

And as for Fox... Well, Murdoch lost millions... and squirmed like a bitch the whole time.

Dude, I entered this hating Murdoch to hell, now I can't help but think two words:

"Well played".

He managed to grease his way out of anything and everyone while keeping his company and his contacts. This man is going to be our Nemesis.

I feel like the NPA abbreviation should be clarified. I know it means the Japanese National Police Agency but for a few moments I thought the abbreviation was referring to the Maoist rebels in the Philippines.

Side note this realy makes jap company's look like they can't be trusted like first Toho now sonny not a good image. Bet the jap pop will demand more gov scrutiny so black companys might not exist anymore

Huh, well we got nothing much going on and Carrie is at the early stages of pregnancy, so this might be a good time. Hope we can do things well.

Eh, I don't know about you guys but I'm not in a mood to pursue it. Like, Mary in spite of all of her genius is 4 years old. It'd be one thing if she wanted to have a sleepover at a friends house, but going to a space camp in Houston apparently for days or weeks is not something that she should be doing. Plus, it rubs me the wrong way of when those creepy scientists came. If Mary is gonna attend any camps, she needs to be older.

Huh, well Mary and Joseph are probably unlikely to enter into the film business, but perhaps Sarah will be our first film gosling through a career at Dreamworks or Hanna-Barbera. Would be a nice new way for an O'Brian to make it in Hollywood and if Sarah is Bruce's heir, having someone co-run Lucasfilms with Wally who has deep experience and love with animation would be good. At least a hypothetical Billie wouldn't have to enter into film alone.

Also fun fact, the Joy of Painting is gonna premiere on January of 1983 so Sarah might have a new favorite show soon.

Eh, I'm fine with it. We have enough actions, and it would be nice to visit Monaco at least once.

I agree. I mean, she's only 4 and she's already moving so fast that at times it seems we (and she) forgets that this is the one period in her life where she should be having fun with her friends rather than just trying to expand on what grown ups and scientists should do.

Huh, never though of it this way, but I can see it happening. Perhaps a future head of animation would suit her.

A couple of things I hope we can do is to get the reights for Umbert Eco's The Name of the Rose, as well as get in contact for the producer of The Fly so that it can be done by Lucasfilms. Both movies could only benefit by having them done by us and with our support they can shine like no tomorrow. Not to mention, getting on the good side of Umberto Eco is crucial if we want to make some adaptations of his works. I have my eye on 1988 and a specific novel.

You know, it would be so fucking funny that Bruce is so fucking pissed about American Televangelism and the Karens who listen to all that Crap, that we make Hazbin Hotel 40 years before its time just to spite them...

Another couple of things that I would like to get relatively soon are the Distribution rights from Once Upon a Time in the Stats from his Creator Albert Barille, they were a massive hit in Europe and it took a lot of time to bring them to America.

And since Herge, the creator of The Adventures of Tintin will die next year, we may want to pick up the adaptation rights from his works because the organization that manages the rights from Tintin is known for being a pain in the ass to deal with... Tintin may not work well in the USA (since Americans for some reason don´t seem to like it) but it has been a resounding success everywhere else in the world so there is a lot of potential in the international market...
